that one is from Dark Records, they aren't an AI channel and do their research (they usually cover other disasters like fires or crowd crushes) That is compilation video of several accidents happening with amusement rides, the thumbnail and title is misleading but the information about each accident is decent (though I don't know if entirely accurate as they aren't ride enthusiasts as far as I can tell)
these types of videos (the ones you’re talking about, not your video) are also disgusting by the way they sensationalise a tragic accident that has taken lives without any real consideration to the victim/their family
It should've been obvious from the get-go that these clickbait amusement park accident channels don't give a flying damn about the victims. All they care about is money and how much they make.
I used to work as a ride operator at an amusement park, one actually mentioned in this video (Darien Lake). It was after the accident you mentioned with The Ride of Steel, but well before the second accident that resulted in a fatality on that same ride. That would actually be one to cover. Anyway, I've seen a lot of these rollercoaster accident videos and whether they're AI or not, they all tend to follow a similar format. Most of the accidents I've seen on them (not all) were due to something stupid done by the guests. Yet the video creators would blame the manufacturers, the operators and the park. Rides have restricted areas that are fenced off for a reason, and more times than not even the maintenance workers who are certified to go into those areas do so when the ride isn't in operation. So as tragic as those accidents are, they're also 100% on the people who shouldn't have gone into those areas in the first place. From just my time being a ride operator I could tell you dozens, if not hundreds, of stories of guests being stupid and compromising the safety of their ride while on the ride itself. Lesser common accidents occur when the operator isn't as attentive as he or she should be. I've seen that happen before, but not that often. Then there are issues that do arise where maybe a maintenance check wasn't as thorough as it needed to be, or issues with a ride are reported but not taken seriously. In my opinion those are much more rare but not unheard of. Some smaller, regional parks might not commit as much money to maintenance as they should and the quality of their rides suffer for it. Other accidents are just so bizarre there is no readily available explanation. But those accidents also tend to be extremely rare. Overall, you're generally safer on a rollercoaster or any other ride than you were getting into your vehicle to drive to the amusement park. What bothers me so much about these tragedy videos is not just the facts they get wrong, but that they're profiting off suffering.

Jesus christ this is the sort of utter scaremongering bull that makes me scared for my mum browsing facebook all day. I appreciate the attempt at a format, but man I can barely watch these videos. "Debunked", but with a more professional tone and overall higher quality. While I still miss the Debunked series, I do appreciate the higher-quality videos that cover the same thing.
The Debunked series is how I found this channel, and I'm glad that it came back for a video! I can't stand videos like that because its done for clout without proper research or respect for the victims and their families
Good video. The only thing I would change is a way of showing when the original video is playing(the footage of unrelated rides) vs what you added due to copyright. I know some channels make their added footage greyscale with a note for example, but even just a decent sized caption would help.
I love your channel, two years ago I went on Wild Eagle at Dollywood, which for me was my first big roller coaster, and leading up to it I was a nervous wreck, however I ultimately still went on it because I thought about your videos and how I have nothing to fear and that I’m perfectly safe. So I went on and I haven’t been afraid of roller coasters since. Thank you so much for that
I much prefer your in-depth and more technical breakdowns. The amount of research you put in really shows. This breakdown of the breakdown format is very meta....keep up the great work!
Currently trying to sort out the "Smiler"-Accident. People can't even decide if the train was going 90mph or 15. Guess I'll have to go look for something like an official report.
Well, I can rule out 90mph. It's top speed during any part of its run is about 53mph. The 90mph figure that gets thrown around is stated that the crash had the equivalent kinetic force of a 1.5tonne car impacting at 90mph Considering where in the ride layout the collision happened, it will have been between 20 and 25mph
I also like it when the mainstream media call *any* ride a "roller coaster" (with the space in between roller and coaster, yes). As if they do not know any other type of ride? I can't believe anyone is that stupid.
I am so cautious of channels anymore. I thought i found another smaller one i liked, only having some minor inaccuracies, until they did a video on the two El Toro incidents. They claimed with the first one, the trail derailed, fish tailed the last car, then when it vallied, that the car was "left hanging off the side of the track" and that the people sustained life threatening injuries. For those who don't know, the last car had **A** wheel assembly derail, which did cause a very rough ride and valleying, the people were mostly physically fine, and you can even google photos of them sitting in the car after it stopped. They're not gorey, they're just sitting there, most likely recovering just from getting the ever loving crap scared out of them. Of course that creator simply ignored people's comments telling them that they were wrong, and then all of their videos started having worse and worse misinformation. Its disgusting to see this pattern of behavior.
I know it's off topic but I don't see how adding an "Extreme Danger" sign would make much of a difference since it's already fenced. Like, if a person was adamant enough to climb over a whole gate, what makes you think a sign (one that even states the obvious peril) would stop them?
I would really like to see a What Really Happened on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld, Australia. It is a national tragedy down here, and you would be one of the best people to clear up some misinformation about it.
That channel popped out a lot in my recommendations lately. The only thing that did to me was rewatching your debunked and what really happened and waiting for your Video on them Edit: I love how it went from "standing near the ride" to "he jumped over fences and entered a forbidden area"
The thing is, when you mentioned that it sounded AI generated, the voice actually does sound like a really good AI voice, unlike those shitty ones that people use.
Another thing I’d like to mention about the Orlando Freefall accident is that reportedly, Tyree (I apologize if I spelt that incorrectly) was far above the weight limit to ride the freefall, but from what I’ve heard, when he was declined to ride, his parents had a fit and the operator was forced to let him ride. I’d say it’s a form of both parental and operational negligence.
@@easyenetwork2023as a ride operator parents don’t give a toss they try get little toddlers on rollercoasters sometimes and tell us if anything happens it’ll be their responsibility… NO you’re not going on you just have to deal with the agg and tell them to go somewhere else
Ah this was nostalgic. The original debunked series was one of the things to teach me about rollercoasters when I was just getting into them. I like the new format!
This is the sort of trash youtube should be censoring.... I've seen so many of these terrible videos, with such bad info... It's nothing but laziness... Glad you're calling them out... anyone who thinks it's okay to use AI to generate youtube content, needs their head examined.
This video brings me back. I've been following this channel since about 600 subs and it's great to see debunked have a successor all these years later. Love your stuff
The clickbait thumbnails surprise no one at this point. Also, the guy talking about the boy who was decapitated from Batman at Six Flags Over Georgia said the "accident" happened in 2015, but it was actually 2008, which you mentioned a while after when the guy was talking about New Texas Giant. Just a minor wrong detail. However, thank you for giving a better perspective and understanding of these other videos that either miss key information or completely over exaggerate the story or all of those things together.
Something cool that could be done could be analyzing different amusement park accidents that occur in movies, and discuss how likely or unlikely they are. I know you wouldn’t be able to dive into the amount of info like you do for these, but I just think it’d be cool. Especially if any were based on real incidents
Cant believe a simple but effective seatbelt connecting the shoulder harness to the seat wasn't used on the Orlando Freefall. A few extra dollars would have saved a life.
Potentially, but not in the way you think. Seatbelts that connect into the harness that way have nothing to do with keeping you in the ride. That is not their purpose. What it does is to serve as a visual check for operators. If the seatbelt is unable to be buckled, then you are too large to ride and the harness is not closed properly. If the harness is closed properly, it is not going to open if the rider is within height/weight range for the ride. There are multiple redundancies in those latching systems. But the harness and/or lap bar is the real restraint. In Tyre Sampson’s case, had there been that type of seatbelt, it shouldn’t have been able to buckle because he was too large to ride, which could have prevented him from going on the ride and saved him in that way. But ultimately, it was the park that failed him, not the ride itself. They had modified the restraints to allow larger people to ride against the manufacturer’s specifications. Even if there had been seatbelts, who is to say they wouldn’t have just modified those too, and the same tragic outcome would have ensued? Or something nearly as gruesome, had his full weight landed on that belt. But in general, those seatbelts connected to harnesses are redundant at best, and at worst, nothing but a pacifier for the general public who think they actually do something. Harnesses and lap bars, on riders within the height/weight range for a ride, do not fly open. In fact, they cannot even be opened outside of the loading zone without special tools. If they raise slightly while riding, that is only up to the point of the last “click.” But they will not go any higher than the previous “click“ where they locked. In poor Tyre’s case, it wasn’t properly locked to begin with. What happened to him should have never happened. But it wasn’t a lack of a seatbelt. It was negligence on the park’s part for not strictly adhering to specs for that ride and allowing a young man of his size to ride. Poor kid.
I am actually glad to hear that the free fall accident is still being investigated. Even with knowing what caused it, i hope further into it will allow the company and more to make more preventive mesures. (As we have seen in the past.)
I was at the Blue Bayou park a few days before the accident on Extreme. The day we were there, they were having issues with the unlocking mechanism under the cars. Many times during the day, they had to go under the tracks in the station to unlock one particular car. Why they didn't pull it to the service track and out of service?? I'm guessing it was a busy day and didn't want any down time. Needless to say, we refused to ride in that car and waited for the next one. A day or two later is when the woman fell to her death.
This clickbait crap is nothing new to me. The amount of nonsense clickbait videos about Thomas and Friends that claim that “Henry died in the tunnel” is insane. Seriously, to all those who do clickbait crap, make legitimate content and do legitimate research. It’s not that hard.
the henry one is especially funny because it shows they didnt actually watch the episode, at all. that episode about henry was a two-parter, and the second part of that episode would always air/play right after the first, showing henry was completely fine and was let out of the tunnel not much later
I still want to see you get on the Well There's Your Problem podcast for an episode about amusement ride disasters. I've been trying to get them to do a two-parter on the son of Beast and Rattler coasters, as the absolute stupidity of both parks and RCCA would be a fun topic to discuss.
To be honest, my biggest issue with videos like this isn't the misinformation, but the fact that they do a great job perpetuating the myth that rides/roller coasters are truly dangerous.
It’s weird because it should be common knowledge that the certain entity isn’t dangerous, but the people in charge could make it dangerous… like the mindset ironically leads to more of this happening
Pretty funny seeing the video in question here recommended to me, and getting to hit that "Don't recommend channel" button. What you're doing is helping fight misinformation, when misinformation is probably one of our biggest problems worldwide right now. Sure, as someone who has only one local theme park that rarely gets mentioned online, and Disneyland once, I don't run into rollercoasters often, and thus don't fear them even when I hear about tragedies like the ones seen here. But the attitude towards easily digestible "retellings" like in the Echoes video is a really good one to learn-- what do other sources say about the event? What do official sources say, if available? Remember to strip out the fantastical language (you see x y and z terrible things happen, oh my! vs "the rider fell and was injured/killed") and notice when footage is staged, like using film clips, vs people's home videos-- when emotions aren't being purposefully heightened, what actually happened? (Oh wow, that sounds very similar to this series on RUclips I like called "What Really Happened"! What a funny coincidence!) So even if the video you're watching is about some other event, the tactics learned here are important to implement. Thanks for making this :)
Amusement park rides dont scare me at all. Traveling carnival rides snapped together in an hour scare the living crap out of me. I KNOW it sounds weird, but I get more anxiety on an open 2 seater Ferris Wheel than I do on any other ride on the planet.
That's not weird at all. They are safety inspected less, and it's highly unlikely that they are assembled 100% correctly at every stop because of how frequently they move.
My grandpa actually told me the story about a boy hopping a fence to get his hat, and getting decapitated by a roller coaster. I believed him, later didn't, and then was shocked to hear that not only did it happen, but it's happened more than once
but isn't there always something that can go wrong with anything? You know the plane your on could crash, a tornado can hit your house, even an asteroid could hit the earth.
The funny thing with final destination 3 is that the things that happened on the movie made ride could never happen IRL. Also they used a ride in Canada as well as a motion machine to get the shots they needed. I'm a fan of horror movies because of awesome special effects but you have to remember it's all fake
i LOVE straight to the point videos. you and el toro ryan are some of the only youtubers i can stand because of how factual your videos are … maybe it’s the true crime listener in me, but if it’s not factually based? i don’t want to listen to it!
**not saying that fake stories can’t be funny but in this case they’re disrespectful to victims and those involved and to the industry, plus it instills a lot of fear in people
RUclips far needs more critical content like this, and less reactionary BS. It’s the difference between what someone like you does-critiquing other peoples content through a factual lens-and what Sssniperwolf does, which is strictly entertainment. Also, that channel is *definitely* being voiced, and probably written by AI. “The six flags network?” What??
I'm not a rollercoaster fan, however I watch your videos and learn from them They are very well researched and documented. You also make it possible to see documentation itself, where other people just sound like they're pulling 💩 out of their butts. These people rarely if ever sound legit in my opinions. If the thumbnails looks like clickbait, I don't watch the video. Never have, never will. Even if it's legit, your thumbnail and title make it sound like BS to me. Yes people will watch whatever. They usually care more about drama, than substance and facts. The news for example. People don't want to do reasrch, they want to be told what to think and be told what is going on, even if its fake.
These Photoshoped photos are so obnoxious to see years ago vut it gets worse when people keep using the same images that have been debunked years ago on accidents that don't reflect the incident. The fact that photos like that get so much usage is exhausting to say the least. And as for the AI channels and their view counts.... don't be surprised if those views go beep boop too and are bots.
maybe if enough people talk about it, we can convince these ai channels that someone just flew into the air and died while standing in line for a super dangerous ride.
My dad has seen a video with a clickbait thumbnail where an entire cart from a ferris wheel was being flung out at high speed. I don't think I have to tell you that it was a fake picture. lol
I think that you need to do a better job of saying "This is what they said happened, and this is what actually happened" Try and make your judgments comparative instead of simply saying what happened, I had a hard time understanding at some points.
Honestly would be interesting for you to talk about thr Alton Towers segment from ThatCreepyReadings video about 9 Creepy Commercials since the Smiler accident is talked about in that video.
My best guess about getting the information about the ride of steel accident wrong is that he was confusing the accident at darrion lake with the accident at New England. The rider on the New England accident could only have his seatbelt secured in the front row and was ejected on the final turn before the break run.
Do you have any plans to do a What Really Happened episode about the 1999 incident on Drop Zone: Stunt Tower at Paramount’s Great America? It’s one of the most under-discussed incidents in the amusement industry.
I know this is a really old accident. But I'd love a what really happened fire in the hole accident when people were accidentally taken into the maintenance shed and were struck by a steel beam. One sadly died
I feel like as soon as you unironically use a final destination clip in your supposedly "serious" video talking about real rollercoaster accidents, your credibility immediately goes out the window

Good video. The only thing I would change is a way of showing when the original video is playing(the footage of unrelated rides) vs what you added due to copyright. I know some channels make their added footage greyscale with a note for example, but even just a decent sized caption would help.
Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the feedback!
Currently trying to sort out the "Smiler"-Accident.
People can't even decide if the train was going 90mph or 15.
Guess I'll have to go look for something like an official report.
Well, I can rule out 90mph. It's top speed during any part of its run is about 53mph. The 90mph figure that gets thrown around is stated that the crash had the equivalent kinetic force of a 1.5tonne car impacting at 90mph
Considering where in the ride layout the collision happened, it will have been between 20 and 25mph
Yeah, the people just look kind of shaken up, maybe a minor injury, like EXTREMELY minor.
I know it's off topic but I don't see how adding an "Extreme Danger" sign would make much of a difference since it's already fenced. Like, if a person was adamant enough to climb over a whole gate, what makes you think a sign (one that even states the obvious peril) would stop them?
Hence the barbed wire
I would really like to see a What Really Happened on the Thunder River Rapids ride at Dreamworld, Australia. It is a national tragedy down here, and you would be one of the best people to clear up some misinformation about it.
That accident has an amazing accident report, it's huge! The video is in the works, if I had to guess look for it in Q1 of 2024.
That channel popped out a lot in my recommendations lately. The only thing that did to me was rewatching your debunked and what really happened and waiting for your Video on them
Edit:
I love how it went from "standing near the ride" to "he jumped over fences and entered a forbidden area"
The thing is, when you mentioned that it sounded AI generated, the voice actually does sound like a really good AI voice, unlike those shitty ones that people use.
Those bad ones are very annoying
He might be reading the script, using his voice, not an AI voice over.
I would tell them, if you ride and die, I told you why he could not go and they might shut up.
@@easyenetwork2023as a ride operator parents don’t give a toss they try get little toddlers on rollercoasters sometimes and tell us if anything happens it’ll be their responsibility… NO you’re not going on you just have to deal with the agg and tell them to go somewhere else
I have heard that mentioned on quite a few of them. With some of them saying they didn’t know how he got on board.
His parents were not present in Orlando with him. He was on a trip with his football team from Missouri.
this is the exact kind of misinformation that gets spread around with no research
The sensationalism of these crappy videos is so annoying. Thank you so much for all your hard work in ensuring accuracy.
Ah this was nostalgic. The original debunked series was one of the things to teach me about rollercoasters when I was just getting into them. I like the new format!
Aww yes! The series that got me into Coaster College is back for a special! Good old classic Debunked!
This is the sort of trash youtube should be censoring.... I've seen so many of these terrible videos, with such bad info... It's nothing but laziness... Glad you're calling them out... anyone who thinks it's okay to use AI to generate youtube content, needs their head examined.
Showing footage from different rides is one of the most confusing things ever
It makes me cringe.
It's how these parasites game the algorithm, by making their video as exploitative of said algorithm as possible.
This video brings me back. I've been following this channel since about 600 subs and it's great to see debunked have a successor all these years later. Love your stuff
Wow, thanks!
Literally not what happened.
This is the danger of these clickbait videos, people with less than a handful of braincells believe them.
Couldn't agree more.
the henry one is especially funny because it shows they didnt actually watch the episode, at all. that episode about henry was a two-parter, and the second part of that episode would always air/play right after the first, showing henry was completely fine and was let out of the tunnel not much later
I still want to see you get on the Well There's Your Problem podcast for an episode about amusement ride disasters. I've been trying to get them to do a two-parter on the son of Beast and Rattler coasters, as the absolute stupidity of both parks and RCCA would be a fun topic to discuss.
That would be awesome. Love listening to WTYP.
I figured right away it was an AI channel. The accent of the narrator is so ambiguously American, and the word choices are weird
Loved the video! Its a throwback to the GP to Enthusiasts days of the channel. Hopefully this is the beginning of a new series.
There is a reason I always forcefully push on my restraints in the station before launch lol. I'm a bigger guy at 6'6" 275 lbs. I always make sure lol
What a throwback! These videos are how I found the channel in the first place :)
I’m from not far away from Baton Rouge (Blue Bayou accident), and I was genuinely shocked to see it even made that video. But yes please cover it!
I thought this was pretty informative, and I liked that you id some research to debunk the claims of the video. Overall I think this format is great!
Throwback to the days of "Jiga coaster", "Furrry three hundred twenty five", and "Dangling coaster".
What video was the "jiga coaster" moment in?
What the hell? Grabbing his hat??? THEY WERE TRYING TO CUT THE LINE and he got his head kicked off
This is why I don’t watch those “Top 10” clickbait videos… I’d loose brain cells.
Lose
@@Icebearhaswares Thanks… I cannot comment on how awake I was when I typed that comment 🤣
I think I almost had a panic attack on a local fair’s Ferris wheel
I roll my eyes every time I hear the hackamer story on these types of videoes. They always leave out so much information
My grandpa actually told me the story about a boy hopping a fence to get his hat, and getting decapitated by a roller coaster. I believed him, later didn't, and then was shocked to hear that not only did it happen, but it's happened more than once
Funtime and Orlando Slingshot are in no means connected, then only customer and manifacturer. Just like any other amusement operator.
The series that first got me interested in coasters, debunked is back for one final ride
but isn't there always something that can go wrong with anything? You know the plane your on could crash, a tornado can hit your house, even an asteroid could hit the earth.
You're content is awesome! Never stop!
2:09 I Think This Creator Telling The Orlando FreeFall Accident Stole Someone's Video From Coaster Studios
The funny thing with final destination 3 is that the things that happened on the movie made ride could never happen IRL. Also they used a ride in Canada as well as a motion machine to get the shots they needed. I'm a fan of horror movies because of awesome special effects but you have to remember it's all fake
Honestly I thought the kid was trying to grab his hat before I watched your video. Every other source on RUclips got it wrong
Same
i LOVE straight to the point videos. you and el toro ryan are some of the only youtubers i can stand because of how factual your videos are … maybe it’s the true crime listener in me, but if it’s not factually based? i don’t want to listen to it!
**not saying that fake stories can’t be funny but in this case they’re disrespectful to victims and those involved and to the industry, plus it instills a lot of fear in people
Thank you!
6:18 Did he steal your thumbnail?
RUclips far needs more critical content like this, and less reactionary BS. It’s the difference between what someone like you does-critiquing other peoples content through a factual lens-and what Sssniperwolf does, which is strictly entertainment.
Also, that channel is *definitely* being voiced, and probably written by AI. “The six flags network?” What??
I dislike when channels lie about coasters, like its not hard to do some research
I'm not a rollercoaster fan, however I watch your videos and learn from them
They are very well researched and documented.
I frickin HATE those stupid click bait pictures.
debunking is back
It’s the British English words with the American accent AI voice for me
maybe if enough people talk about it, we can convince these ai channels that someone just flew into the air and died while standing in line for a super dangerous ride.
It's so disrespectful!!! I'm glad you cover things like this.
I've left several nasty comments on this guy's channel for playing it all for the horror and not information. Appreciate your channel very much.
Those dangling coasters are super dangerous! Nothing is more deadly than a dangler!
That vid-thumb is AWESOME!! 🤣
My dad has seen a video with a clickbait thumbnail where an entire cart from a ferris wheel was being flung out at high speed. I don't think I have to tell you that it was a fake picture. lol
I think that you need to do a better job of saying
"This is what they said happened, and this is what actually happened"
Try and make your judgments comparative instead of simply saying what happened, I had a hard time understanding at some points.
Honestly would be interesting for you to talk about thr Alton Towers segment from ThatCreepyReadings video about 9 Creepy Commercials since the Smiler accident is talked about in that video.
Love your Peridot pfp!! Im a steven universe fan too!
I used to watch these when I was younger quite a bit
Same lol, I remember first getting interested in the industry and binging videos like this. I guess that's what got me here lol.
Can you do the 2001 canobie lake Yankee cannibal accident when 2 carts collided
Does an accident report exist?
@@CoasterCollege a news report exist on RUclips when you search "Yankee Cannonball accedent 2001" from 2001
@@RealandrearealbutitsfakeYour username is apt.
3:07 when you are working on that video can you put small guide on how to know if the restraint is low enough?
Yes, but it would be specific to the Icon park drop tower, as every ride is somewhat different.
I like this new format! Definitely a spiritual successor to Debunked!
I've never heard anyone call a coaster car a "coach" either. There's no way this channel isn't AI lol.
Nice video. I can easily see getting I for wrong easily. Especially if a video is made in the first couple of weeks after an accident.
Rides like Icon Park... WHY do those restraints NOT have a "seat belt" style strap that connects between the legs to the horse collar...
You are too nice to these assholes, and you deserve a medal for that.
Gotta say, i miss your debunked style videos!! I remember when the channel name was GP to Enthusiast and u would get really mad when stupid yters would call inverted coasters "dangling" ☠️☠️ good timez
it's a good format. still missing Flat Ride of the Week
Yeah I loved that
1.2 Million people were misinformed. Thank you CC :)
