Yes, it is very difficult to lose love ones and not be close by to assist in any way you can. There are many families in the same situation and many families who are located very close to each other. I am sure that this will stay in your mind when you return next year for your extended stay. It is good that your family is very close and can support each other. Continue with your projects as it will help you to overcome any grief that you are experiencing. 😎

I’m sorry for grandma’s passing away. My sister just passed away and it was so sad for me because she was in the US while I am still in the Philippines. We were able to google meet during her memorial service.

I remember how my Grandma (Lola in Tagalog) and I had lots of unforgettable memories when we lived together before I came to the US. I live in Phoenix AZ, 40-45C in summer months. I remodel/flip houses. IMO we don't design houses properly for the desert and I see the same problem in modern PH house. In both cases people want a style of house seen in N Europe. Here in the US we build exactly the same house in the desert as in the arctic. Traditional PH house knew to build a gap between roof and wall to let heat coming off the roof out. N European homes have no need to let heat out, they want to keep heat in. Here in Phoenix the attic gets to about 66C (150F). No matter how much insulation is installed that heat will push through into the living space which has to be removed by AC. Whereas in the shade temp can be down around 38C (100F) during the hottest times.
My next house will have a flat roof with EPDM and then a little above that a metal "shade roof" which will be pitched a bit and have gaps to reduce high wind lifting force. Metal helps reduce radiant heat penetration. The shade roof will extend enough to shade walls.
Thank you so much for your advice my friend. We never suffer from heat here as there is good spaces between the ceiling and floors with great air flow always. Quite often in the evenings we don't need fans at all 😊

Adam and Jane, the purple yam fruits are for seedling, you can cook them as well. But the one in the ground is much bigger, you will know when to harvest it when the leave has dried up then it is the time to dig the one at the bottom.

Yes, distances are difficult, lost a mother and aunt while in Thailand but they held the services when I arrived..otherwise, a lovely sunrise or sunset and some daily activities and looking forward to some tasty garden produce, thx for the vid 🙏🏻👍🏻🇵🇭

Appreciate the energy saving tips, energy prices are indeed increasing even more so in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces. It's also getting so much hotter, and passive cooling is definitely great but in "cookie cutter" houses or condos, these aren't always possible. So the energy costs can sadly be at least 2-3x higher than Php3k with airconditioning. Very sad times.

My parents died, it was my sister who informed me thru letters, first our father died very sudden, then 1 year later our mother died, both times my sister writes to me about that and she's the one who settles all things in England. I'm in the Philippines, married here with children and I have never been back to the UK in person, only on my Laptop via Google Earth. Thanks as my life and story continue on.

We do suffer too high electricity bills here in Western Mindanao Zamboanga del sur..We even have frequent brownouts which make us feel bad .
