DON'T GO LEAVING THE PHILIPPINES BEHIND YET. STAY FOR ANOTHER 10 YEARS AND YOU'LL SEE THE FRUIT OF YOUR LABOR. KEEP VLOGGING CAUSE PHILIPPINES IS THE #1 DESTINATION FOR FOREIGN VLOGGERS WHO WANTS TO MAKE VLOGGING THEIR PRIMARY SOURCE OF INCOME. PHILIPPINES IS THE #1 ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRY IN THE WHOLE WIDE UNIVERSE AND FILIPINOS ARE HUNGRY FOR FOREIGN VALIDATION WHICH THEY WILL BE SO PROUD WHENEVER SOME VLOGGERS FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES TRY SOMETHING NEW IN THEIR HOMELAND FROM EATING THEIR FOOD LIKE ADOBO, BALUT, KULOT AND SALOT. SEE YOU'LL HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF THINGS TO DO IN PH THAT WILL MAKE YOUR VIDEOS SKYROCKET IN VIEWS AND EARN YOU GAZILLION OF MOOLAHS FROM RUclips. DON'T LEAVE JUST YET CAUSE FILIPINOS ARE SO GULLIBLE AND CAN EASILY BE DECEIVED. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Any country that mandidotes vaggination for entry is not “fun.” You like injecting yourself with future cansour, unfertolity and cardio-related decline? Soon you will need a biannual boosturd for inter-island travel in that gulag. So dystopian by now that YT censors any comment with certain verboten words. So you want to be stuck in Asia as WW3 begins with blockades of the first island chain? The dystopian writing is on the wall. And you better realize it sooner before it is too late for you to escape.

I'm crying right now watching your video. You put in words what I've been trying to tell my husband about how different life is here in the states and in the Philippines. I am from the Northern Philippines and migrated here in the states more than a decade ago and I'm tired of life here. I miss the slow pace of life, I miss having a community who actually wants to know about your well being when they asked you "how are you?" , I miss the warm beach and white sands, I miss the food but most especially I miss the peaceful lifestyle. I am slowly trying to build a business that I hope can support us so we can go and live in the Philippines in the near future. Wish me luck :)

No way would I subject my son to the school system there, the incompetence of people on the job, the lies, manipulative nature of the culture. And yes my wife is a Filipina and feels the same way. I think you need to live there much longer or try working. Your thoughts will change if your working there and not just retired. I'm the odd one out about this. The stress of entering ports I haven't used before is overwhelming for me when I bring a car. Common traits I've encountered with ports is:
      1. Lack of or poor signage.
      2. Unclear prices of ticket
      3. Multiple stations to go to all spread apart ( coastguard, port fees, tickets, etc)
      4. Fixers swarming your car trying to "help" you but only making you stress wondering if you're actually paying the right price or getting ripped off because of #1 and #2.
I've been here 8 years but have only gone on single island hops from my home in Negros because of this. Just the thought of driving all the way to Luzon using multiple ferries turns me off. And that's fine I've been ok with My Negros-Cebu travels.

Dr. Laway: I was in PH million years ago. Your program is VERY informative and thought provoking. I am an OLD guy in California. My adult daughter, a disabled U.S. Navy vet, and I decided to move out of California at the end of June. Imagine, my rent is $3000 per month plus all the utility and other expenses add up to $4000 per month. My car payment and insurance cost another $1000. It is ridiculous paying this kind of money and struggling to live. So we are finally MOVING. It is funny that we thought about Chiang Mai and even Albania which you mentioned. My daughter and I watched your program together. We are inspired. When we come to PH someday, we will try to contact you. Our first stop is Korea. From there we will TRAVEL. We lived in Penang, Malaysia for a year about 10 years ago. And Mexico, for 5 years after my retirement. We went to Russia 4 times. We know the life outside of U.S. I am going to subscribe your channel. Keep up the good work of inspiring people. After Korea, PH is definitely on our schedule as a base camp. Mike from California

I moved to Cebu City, Philippines as a permanent resident in February 2022 retiring from the U.S. DoD after 43 years of military and DoD service. I'm living here with my new family. I have a 3/4 bedroom house, maids room, office, living room, large dining room and kitchen, den, 3 bathrooms, carport, & camera security system, steel gate and protected windows for 30K a month. The two story house is a concrete bunker good for severe storms. However, I agree with you and rather pay less. 15-20K would be great. I also have very high speed internet (PLDT) with 3 mesh units for 4,099p a month, and it works very well for movies, Zoom, business and everything else. I would like to live in a Province close to a major city, such as Cebu City, or outside of Manila. I miss a more rural atmosphere. Although Manila has everything, and Cebu is close, I miss the less traffic and peaceful life of the country. However, unlike Manila, Cebu is close to many of the Philippines' major resort areas that I can reach by taxi, boat, or plane.

It has day/night security cameras in the front, back, and inside the residence. You're right. Another great thing about living in the Philippines is its close proximity to other southeast Asian countries. So if your retired, for example, and want to visit some exotic places, this location is ideal. It's an easy hop from Manila to Bangkok, roughly 3 hours and a 2 hour flight to Saigon. Hong Kong is close along w/ Malaysia and Indonesia. Even such destinations as Australia, Japan, and South Korea are not too far away.

They both have the pros and cons, but I love both countries. They both attract the same types of foreigners, but they are very different countries. I enjoy travelling around Asia but The Philippines and Thailand are the only two I would live in long term. They both have so many positives going for them, at least for my lifestyle.

Not sure exactly where you are in this video - but I'm surprised to see that there aren't a ton of people around! Living in any of the larger cities, we never had a problem finding US brands etc (this is 2 years ago). When I was there back in the 90s though, good luck finding anything like that outside of a handful of stores specializing in imports. I agree with you about infrastructure as well as things like reliable sanitation services etc. Bacolod City where we are is much cleaner than it was a couple of decades back.

About 3 years ago when I was travelling in Davao, the internet was terrible. It's like all the mobile carriers and 'home adsl' was running off the same network and when it went down, it would be down for all. I discovered there are a few pricey apartment buildings around the Philippines which have fibre, but didn't consider it feasible. Loved the vibe there though, and would consider it for a working holiday in future.

Great video. 'Glad you're stayin'. I'm planning on coming over for good in November. The first thing I'm planning on doing is to buy a motorscooter, new one. Honda. What are the hoops you have to jump through. AND most importantly, what is the situation with getting a driver's license. Is a US license good for a period. Can you do the whole registration / insurance thing in one go or is it a long drawn out process. SECONDLY, I'm in N.C. so I'm appreciating the accent; hold on, secondly as I said, why did you go to Mindanao. It seems EVERYONE is going to the Dumaguete area and Mindanao sees like the dark continent. I've never been to the Philippines except to fly over it once but I've lived in Mexico so I appreciate the concept of time and bureaucracy and it seems to be a Spanish trait the Philippines has picked up nicely. I'm VERY patient. What are some prices for a two bedroom in Mindanao? Is there an English speaking community in Mindanao or is most of your time spent at home. Questions, questions...... Thanks a bunch and enjoy your day. All the best, Greg
