Out of curiosity, why the N54? I remember when that engine came out. People hated it because the NA stuff before it was just so awesome. That said, the N54 is pretty decent.
unfortunately these hondas had a pretty poor gas measuring system, it wouldn't ever tell for sure how much u had. I never ran out of gas in mine and i'm usually running low by the gauge.
Gauge probably isn't powered. Might be broken. Either way, once I got down to the red area upper limit mark on the fuel gauge I could usually go about 40 miles if I baby footed it... no craziness. I had one engine detonate when the fuel pump got weak and it went super lean during a rev bounce launch. To make it worse there was little fuel in the tank, so the extra weight of the gas wasn't helping get fuel into the system thru the weak pump. I'd assume that might happen if you ran out of gas in some cases.

Did you ever get around to it? I had a setup like you're describing with a B16A Civic. It was incredibly loud. Unfortunately the cam lobes went flat QUICK. It would scream at 11KRPM, but the oil wasn't enough I guess, or maybe the dual coil springs were just too much pressure for the lobes. They basically disappeared. I always kept clean oil in it after it was built. Never banged it unless I knew it had reasonably fresh oil.
Nice engine and a good fuel consumiption 100hp for liter its excelent for a 1.6 but i see to much blocks borken for oil presure problems our high temperature

It has intake, headers, straight through exhaust with a mugen twin loop, lighter flywheel, HD clutch, p30 ecu tuned with ECtune making over 160hp at the wheels but it won't get over 195kph. I think it's not that fast in general. It had a b16a2 in it but was pretty tired so after searching found a gen 2 jdm. It's got great compression etc. Any thoughts?
its the gear ratio man... lol... if you added 6-th gear or make the gear ratios longer. you could go way faster... also it depends how you tuned it... and you have a lighter flywheel also.
do not buy a new engine. opet the engine up... it may have a lot of carbon residue... maybe the compression is not right so you need to adjust the valves. has the engine been opened?
Wheel speed doesn't care how much power an engine makes. It all depends on the engine RPM, final drive ratio and gear ratio. Power just determines how fast it gets there for the given weight. If I'm lying, how can a 20hp shifter kart reach 150mph and beat any street car in the quarter mile? The answer is : gears and weight.
Did you ever find what was wrong? My old 1st gen legacy did 116MPH all stock with lots of miles. My Buick Century with the 3100 engine did 110MPH. My D16Y7/Y8 Civic did about 105MPH.
@@greenbassboosts8872 yeah so the ecu wasn't bolted down and been a analogue signal when it went over a few bumps( pretty much as soon as it came out of the dyno) it messed with the signal and it reverted back to a stock tune (so 114hp@w vs 168hp@w) so pretty much the entire time I was driving it after getting all that work done and hours on the dyno it was just running rich and pulling a ton of timing lol. Only way I found out was I took it back to the dyno and he pick up straight away on the first pull something was off. Completely different car now. Alot faster than before. How I thought I should go is how it ended up.
Don't think it could crank this high without at least some dual coil springs. That's all I needed to get to 10k (with the rev limiter removed). Never floated a valve, but the heavy springs ruined my cams in a daily driver. They wore down to nearly flat.
@@GoldoBuilt call it a well educated guess, The B16b and B18C both start to drop off after 8000 and 8200. Stock B16a wont produce better results. Ive seen enough dyno sheets to have a general idea and the video seems to confirm that acceleration does slow down.
Your setup should be B20b not either high or low comp just a crv block if came out of awd even better … CTR pistons with upgrade on oil pump .. stocks rods .. high performance head gasket ARP studs with skunk2 ultra intake manifold AEM fuel rail.. old school MSD coil .. definitely OEM ITR ECU chipped skunk2 3inch WITH RESONATOR. Very important. 250whp 140ish torque
Snice when was the driver side of the civics on left, the driver side on civics are on the right, unless made in the USA, other places besides london or any territori of the us or UK use the MPH unit, that car clearly is in KMH
@@MrS22222go do research on what back pressure is. You lose power with back pressure. Back pressure would imply a smaller diameter more restrictive exhaust. You want about a 2-2.5 inch exhaust diameter for best flow in which a vacuum is created by each pulse leaving the exhaust basically leaving a suction to suck the next exhaust pulse from the header. Back pressure would be the opposite of that creating exhaust pulses pushing into each other creating in equal disruptive flow pushing pulses back towards the headers and you start to lose torque and horse power now that the exhaust is struggling to move out of the way for the next pulse
I have ctr cams and more modifications and it does not look like yours by far. yours works very well. I do not know what may be failing. B16A jdm is mine
Don't know why you would turn the engine to 9500rpms with just ITR cams? It's pointless ! The ITR cams only have a duration of 243 degrees which would only make power to about 8500rpms at the most and that's stretching it!
