Hey, I think the best option at the moment might be the Stanton STX. The Reloop Spin might also be a good option, but not as good as the Stanton. The Numark pt01 is very capable but really requires a few modifications to get to the level of the other options I mentioned. Hope that helps :)

Hi I want to get me this turntable have unfortunately not seen so many tutorials. Could you recommend the turntable? And can you also listen to normal vinyl bsp. to take away in the record store ? Lg
Hi, yeah I would definitely recommend this turntable. An alternative you might want to look at is the Reloop Spin. And yes you can listen to regular vinyl on both of these turntables
Hi Kit, I just got mine pt01, and I am wondering if it is normal that I got sound with my tonearm even when I turn off the audio button, thank you very much for the reply
Hey, yeah it's perfectly normal to hear the sound of the record even with the power off. It's just the vibrations from the record reverberating through the turntable
Thanks heaps! Yeah they are not exactly cheap but if you consider something like guitar strings cost about the same and they break all the time. But a record will last for many years before you’ll notice any wear. Also there are many records for under $20 and sales on a few times a year.
You can also go for a second handed record that might have a sentence before the song begins that you can scratch on,but that's quite rare in 7 inch vinyls.
I want to up date my fader on my numark pt01, please any suggestions on what to get and how to install. Please and thank you. I'm into hip-hop alot if that helps w needle choice or anything. Thanks everyone.
So I have the old JDD fader, I made a short video with it ruclips.net/video/sj4zF5bI7uc/видео.html and here is an installation guide ruclips.net/video/CIW95dmwIcI/видео.html This is the only pt01 I've used but as far as I can tell all of the compatible options seem good
Are there royalty free 7 inch battle records? I am thinking about getting into scratching because I would like to use it in my music, but I also want to make sure I can put my music out on Spotify without having copyright issues. Awesome video by the way!
There are but as far as I know they are not very common and it is sometimes hard to find out which records are royalty free. Scratching has been in a grey area for some time now. It is incredibly unlikely for your music to get flagged on a streaming service when using battle records, I have never heard of it happening. That said it is technically possible for music to get flagged. Hope that's helpful :)
Yeah definitely. You'd just need some kind of audio interface (to get audio to your pc) and some way of recording it (a DAW like ableton, fl studio, etc)
There are cases you want the needle to "jump" to get specific sound, but guys in case you wonder the needle ain't jumping the way you want. The ring is kind of needed, it's not impossible to scratch without, it's actually quite possible.
I think this is the one I used www.amazon.ca/Improved-turntable-PT01USB-ICT09RS-CZ-800-10/dp/B01JJ73BGY You can get cheaper ceramic ones but I would recommend getting a diamond one.
Hi nice cuts! I got a pt 01 a couple of days ago, and i am getting a loud shhhhh sound when i open the fader, can you help me? I can't find any information on net about this problem that i am having
@@TheKitComplete yes, from both, it sounds like when you have the volume too loud and nothing is playing, just a shhhh sound, do you know? Hahaha, i can try and send a video to you
If I use this with my normal records, will the stylus spoil them? (Assuming the cartridge and stylus is similar to the crosleys) - my main purpose is to learn how to scratch but just wanted to make sure
Yeah the stylus is just like the crosleys (or most other portable turntables). Just plastic. I don't think it will damage your records but the sound quality isn't very good. You can upgrade the stylus though. This is what I use amzn.to/3jkYl4W
So the fader is from jessedeancustoms.com/ and the needle is off amazon amzn.to/3jkYl4W But the tonearm is just stock and I'm not sure what you mean by metal plate.
You are the man! I wish i had a picture to show you this setup but I did manage to use a guitar cable hooked from the turntable to my audio interface, but behold it worked! I can use the switch and record into my laptop! Thanks !!
Not really. With the Jesse Dean mk2 fader it is possible but requires a bit of effort. If you are only going to use it with an external fader/mixer you could always get a regular pt01 USB
@@TheKitComplete why? Letting the fader open and connecting rca output it should work as a regular table. I’d like to use as standalone or with mixer depend the situation. I saw videos using pt scratch with mixer and seems to work fine...
Yeah this is the original JD fader so just regular. And I did remove the capacitor. I can't actually remember if I tried using the fader with the capacitor still in place so I can't say if it made much difference but I did it because Swiftstyle recommended it
The Kit Complete good to know. Thx man. I stupidly bought a DDJ-800 and Pioneer table and some Rekordbox vinyl today (for DVS) when I should have just gone this route haha. I think I am going to return it and spend $275 on your setup.
That’s a big purchase for sure. I don’t know if it was stupid but the pt01 is def cheaper. If you want something digital you could also look at the sc1000/500 portablismgear.com/sc1000.html
Kit Complete I’m using the stock one it came with, when I record a scratch it plays back the full scratch without me using the fader. I just bought a red/yellow cable to usb though and I’m hoping that solves the issue.
Rodney Makowski oh are you using the USB output on the pt01? When you use the USB output it bypasses the cross fader so yeah it won’t work. I’m not sure if that cable will work (I’ve never used one), if it doesn’t you’ll might have to look into getting an audio interface. A cheap option is the Behringer UFO202 Audio Interface
Would you say the pt01 is a good buy, even though you need to upgrade almost every feature it has? I’m just starting out and a wondering if it’s worth getting into, or maybe it’s better to start at a higher level of a turntable…
It is a bit of a tricky question. In short I would say yes it's worth it. Even with all of the upgrades it is still a very cheap way of getting into scratching, possibly the cheapest. One thing to keep in mind when you're looking at full sized turntables is that for scratching you don't want to go with the cheapest model, especially avoid anything that is belt driven. You'll want to look at direct drive turntables. Plus you'll have to get your own mixer which adds to the cost. Depending where you are you might find a good deal on second hand goods. There are definitely pros and cons either way you go. For me going portable was the best option as I don't have the room for a permanent setup so being able to quickly and easily move/setup/pack away was a big factor in my choice. Hope that all helps
It is definitely a great upgrade. For me the fader is just so much more natural than the switch. It's not completely necessary but if you like the pt01 it's an upgrade you certainly make at some point
You can play 33 and 45. But I think you are probably asking about 12 inch records? You can definitely play them but scratching with them s extremely difficult
@@TheKitComplete ooh thank you for your prompt reply. Will get one next week and might try my hands on turtablism. Your video tutorial is very concise and to the point. Greatly appreciate it.
I got the old Jesse Dean fader. The new one is a little bit more expensive but has some good features the old one doesn't have jessedeancustoms.com/collections/portable-turntable-fader

Yeah the Omni looks amazing. It's quite a bit more expensive than the pt01 though. For anyone who wants to start scratching I would def still recommend the pt01 or the reloop spin. The Omni is more for experienced portablists, it's def some next level stuff.
The fader is from jessedeancustoms.com/ The platter upgrade is from bihari.bigcartel.com but hasn't been available for some time so you'll have to look for alternatives And the needle is just off amazon

With the new JDD fader I don't think you have to remove the capacitor anymore
There are cases you want the needle to "jump" to get specific sound, but guys in case you wonder the needle ain't jumping the way you want. The ring is kind of needed, it's not impossible to scratch without, it's actually quite possible.
Bruh, for 100 Euros... what needle do you expect.
Maybe you can change the system and put whatever you want?
Im having sound issues with mine. Seems when im using the practice yo cuts record, you can BARELY hear it even at full volume
Is it just that record?
Thats the only record i have at the moment. When i plug my ipod up to it, its pretty loud, but the records always quiet.
@@AcousticSerenity Ok, well it is unlikey that it's the record. And if the iPod works it's not the speaker. Could the needle be damaged?
Didnt think about that actually. Do you know what to replace it with?
I think this is the one I used www.amazon.ca/Improved-turntable-PT01USB-ICT09RS-CZ-800-10/dp/B01JJ73BGY
You can get cheaper ceramic ones but I would recommend getting a diamond one.
just got my fader whenever I cut out I get a popping noise when bring it to the side to cut out if anyone knows how to solve this problem
Which fader did you get? You might want to contact the manufacturer
@@TheKitComplete got the Jesse Dean contactless
Hi nice cuts! I got a pt 01 a couple of days ago, and i am getting a loud shhhhh sound when i open the fader, can you help me? I can't find any information on net about this problem that i am having
Hey, thanks! Without seeing it I'm not sure what the problem might be. Are you getting the same noise out of the speaker and the headphones?
@@TheKitComplete yes, from both, it sounds like when you have the volume too loud and nothing is playing, just a shhhh sound, do you know? Hahaha, i can try and send a video to you
Hmm I'm not sure hey. If you're on Facebook there is a pt01 owners group that could prob help out facebook.com/groups/1165167453538446/
Where to buy tonearm, metal plate, etc.?
Also the fader too?
So the fader is from jessedeancustoms.com/ and the needle is off amazon amzn.to/3jkYl4W
But the tonearm is just stock and I'm not sure what you mean by metal plate.
why does the scratch switch not work when im connected USB??!
It's just the way the turntable is set up I'm afraid. The USB output bypasses the scratch switch
How do I record my scratches into my computer using the scratch switch? Or any way to record them ?
@@hudsonconner3279 You'll need to use the audio out of the PT01 and record into some kind of audio interface
You are the man! I wish i had a picture to show you this setup but I did manage to use a guitar cable hooked from the turntable to my audio interface, but behold it worked! I can use the switch and record into my laptop! Thanks !!
@@hudsonconner3279 Awesome! Glad you got it sorted
can u bypass the internal fader connecting to an analog mixer?
@@ignitore Yeah of course. That's not actually bypassing the fader though. But yes the setup you mentioned would work fine
@@TheKitComplete ok thanx :)
@@ignitore No problem. Sorry if I confused the situation :)
Everyone please be sure to master all the basic cuts before getting into all the flares and such. You'll be much better in the long run.
True
Hey bro did you remove the capacitor as others suggested, with the JD fader? Also is this the Contactless one or the regular? Looks regular. Thanks!
Yeah this is the original JD fader so just regular. And I did remove the capacitor. I can't actually remember if I tried using the fader with the capacitor still in place so I can't say if it made much difference but I did it because Swiftstyle recommended it
@@TheKitComplete Thx! How did you remove it? Solder? Tweezers? Such little info out there overall haha.
@@DopamineOverload I just used a pair of scissors. I was pretty nervous about it but it's actually a lot easier than it seems
I love this thing but I’m having trouble recording scratches with it, it’s not picking up the mutes
You mean like your crossfader is bleeding? What kind of fader are you using?
Kit Complete I’m using the stock one it came with, when I record a scratch it plays back the full scratch without me using the fader. I just bought a red/yellow cable to usb though and I’m hoping that solves the issue.
Rodney Makowski oh are you using the USB output on the pt01? When you use the USB output it bypasses the cross fader so yeah it won’t work. I’m not sure if that cable will work (I’ve never used one), if it doesn’t you’ll might have to look into getting an audio interface. A cheap option is the Behringer UFO202 Audio Interface
Kit Complete sheeeit alright I’ll just hope for the best
@@rodneymakowski7353 Yeah let me know how it goes with the cable
Hope that all helps
can you use the pt01 to scratch 12” as well?
It's technically possible but I wouldn't recommend it
I subbed just because of this video. Thanks man.
Do you recommend changing from the switch to the fader for a beginner?
It is definitely a great upgrade. For me the fader is just so much more natural than the switch. It's not completely necessary but if you like the pt01 it's an upgrade you certainly make at some point
Oh and thanks for the sub :)
Seems cool, but can you use 33 also
You can play 33 and 45. But I think you are probably asking about 12 inch records? You can definitely play them but scratching with them s extremely difficult
can i use it as a normal vinyl player if im not scratching?
Yeah it will work just fine
@@TheKitComplete ooh thank you for your prompt reply. Will get one next week and might try my hands on turtablism. Your video tutorial is very concise and to the point. Greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
What crossfader did you buy?
I got the old Jesse Dean fader. The new one is a little bit more expensive but has some good features the old one doesn't have jessedeancustoms.com/collections/portable-turntable-fader
where is the version for left handed djs ?? :(
Check out the Reloop Spin
Yo so I can just mod with any diamond tip stylus replacement and be good?
Anyone that works yeah. This is the one I bought www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01JJ73BGY/
Thanks
@@gabe7987 No worries!
Hey , thx for your helpful guide 👍ordered that numark now. Can you set some links of your mods? Thx from Berlin , germany
Thanks! There are a lot of places selling mods but if you're in Germany I would suggest starting with portablismgear.com/
@@TheKitComplete Thank you ! I found some sites i Can find all the Stuff. I already installes the Jesse Dean Fader , another needle and a Stabilizer ring. I am actually thinking about ordering another tonearm and a Start/stop Button , But installing those itmea seems to be too complicated for me 😂
Did. you change your tonearm and you think it is necessary ?
Would this be a good turntable to learn on?
I think it's great. And it is by far the cheapest and easiest way to get into scratching
Can I plug this into the mpc and sample it?
Yeah, it's has a line level output so you can plug it straight into an MPC
@@TheKitComplete thanks for the help 🙏👍
Where’s the links for the upgrades ?
So it's jessedeancustoms.com/ for the fader, bihari.bigcartel.com/ for the platter stabilizer, and the needle is just off of Amazon. This is the one I bought www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01JJ73BGY/
The Kit Complete thank you so much dude
@@BlackPoisonxD You're welcome!
How do u connect mk3 to pt01
I just run RCA out of the pt01 to 1/4 inch ins on the Maschine
I brought numark pT01 but it's has normal cross fider
No problem :) So the fader I use is from Jesse Dean Designs (jessedeancustoms.com/collections/portable-turntable-fader/products/jddx2rs-a-contactless-fader-for-numark-pt01-scratch)
@@TheKitComplete thanks how much Indian money sir
Is there a way where I can play pt01 in flstudio?
Do you mean to record it in to FLStudio? Yeah of course. You just plug it into your audio interface and you’re good to go
can you use all the vinyls to mix?
To do a regular DJ set? No you would need 2 record players and a mixer
The Kit Complete I mean for this pt-01 scratch. Thank you
@@paulionutz Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. If you want to mix records (mix from one record to another like a regular DJ) then no you can not do that with the pt01. You would need 2 record players and a mixer
The Kit Complete I mean I have this device for pt-01 scratch but I don't have vinyl for it. do I need a special vinyl to be able to scratch?
@@paulionutz Oh ok. You can technically scratch any record but I would highly recommend getting some 7 inch scratch records. I got mine from shop.portablist.com/ and jessedeancustoms.com/shop/ But some other good places are www.stokyoworld.com/ , scratchbreak.com/ and www.turntabletrainingwax.com/ depending where you live. Those are some good places to start, or just google 7 inch battle records and you'll find heaps
But did you change that crossfader or is it standard?
Yep, swapped it out for the Jesse Dean fader 0:48
This is a great video thank you

Does anyone know the name of the scratch record he is using for this video ?
I do! this is the record but you can find it at other stores as well www.turntabletrainingwax.com/practice-yo-cuts-meets-serato-7-inch-blue-1
Kit Complete awesome thanks! Keep up the dope beats much love and respect to you 👊
Explicit no worries bro! And thanks heaps for the support 🙏
wht the hell is fader on the right side?
goddamn zordan why is the fader on the right side? I dunno man, just a design choice. You should have a look at the Reloop Spin. You can put the fader on either side
Great demo. I liked this video.
Thank you!
Bro where you get the fader??!
It's the Jesse Dean fader and I got it direct from the man himself jessedeancustoms.com/
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
THIS IS SO DOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a lot!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 thanks bro!
@@TheKitComplete Do you still recommend this "wannabe-scratch-Dj" kit, today?
Have you seen the "Omni Headache Sound" mini-scratch turntable?
Yeah the Omni looks amazing. It's quite a bit more expensive than the pt01 though. For anyone who wants to start scratching I would def still recommend the pt01 or the reloop spin. The Omni is more for experienced portablists, it's def some next level stuff.
@@TheKitComplete Thanks for your opinion! All the best!
please post the links for the mods
The fader is from jessedeancustoms.com/
The platter upgrade is from bihari.bigcartel.com but hasn't been available for some time so you'll have to look for alternatives
And the needle is just off amazon
@@TheKitComplete thanx for sharing the links ..
I love it!!!!!! Those records look 45rpm m i right???
Can i buy scratch records from your link in description?
Thanks! So a lot of 7 inch records are 45rpm but because these are made for scratching they are actually 33rpm. And yeah you can buy them from the links in the description. Cheers!
What a nice tutorial! Thanks a lot.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just got the gear.but my first attempt l was so bad .thought it was simple
Bro I have felt that way many times. I can only say stick with it hey. I have found for most people learning the basics of scratching is far easier than most instruments so I'm sure in a little time you'll learn enough to just have fun with it.
