Much of mankind is spiritually bankrupt,which is why its such a sad materialistic world,man ignores the wonderful spiritual potential within him.Its heartbreaking Melancholy man is everywhere. Mike Pinder got it right...well done Mike ,really inspired.

Mike Pinder is a genius
Mike Pinder knew what he was talking about because he was and is a Melancholy Man. By the way, the Isle of Wight concert in 1970 in front of 600,000 played this song and it was great. I've got the DVD of the concert and Pinder at the end of this song was shouting out the lyrics with emotion. Great performance.

It is fascinating . . . listening to this song out of "context" - that is, separate from the album, "A Question of Balance," in which "Melancholy Man" is preceded by the uplifting "Dawning Is The Day" and followed by the transcendental "Balance."
"Melancholy Man" aptly expresses the heart and mind of a representative human who has not yet caught the scent of the CONSCIOUS QUEST for spiritual awareness. But, help is never far away.
Mike Pinder never had a number one in the U.K or the U.S. but I read somewhere this went to number One in France....Great song.

Very Good, very consistent with your Themes so far. thoughts for a Next Video if U have not yet done it. "Cities" is (imo) is a really great song for a video that even the die-hard fan may not have heard before. Seems it is rarely heard and it is such a great, emotive song. Makes U feel like you are in a big city to listen to it !

Great sound quality but, almost unbearably annoying visual effects!!! What on earth were you thinking. I don't suffer from epilepsy, but you almost got me there after 30 seconds.... Slow down for god's sake....
