I was 16 in 83. RTR was our sabbath moment, my family never missed it. The era of Bodie and Doyle, Open all hours, Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy and Grange hill. Awesome memories.
Far out this is cool. I remember Saturdays, I think 6pm?? I would do nothing else until I had caught up with RTR ...it was my weekly ritual. 83 I was ...ummmm ...16! Holy! Nowadays you can listen to and watch any video and time any where. Kinda takes the excitement away.
Certainly an interesting lineup in that countdown. Good to see a few Kiwi acts (DD Smash and The Narcs), as NZ commercial radio had major cultural cringe issues at that time... And while "She Blinded me with Science" and Falco's "Der Kommisar" (interesting to see After the Fire's version there too!) were released elsewhere in 1982, releases in the pre-internet age often took months, if not years to reach New Zealand!
I'm thinking June 1983. I remember David Bowie being number 1 in May 83. Beat it then became number 1 for ages and was eventually topped by Bonnie Tyler's Total eclipse of the heart. Great show, just had to put up with watching an hour of Emmerdale Farm beforehand on a Saturday evening!

Thanks. I couldn't read the caption, that's why I was curious.
Charts in New Zealand for May 29, 1983
This takes me back. I was living in NZ in '83 and watched RTR religiously. I remember at one point Bonnie Tyler was number 1 for weeks

The Narcs, a top NZ band (who had ambitions of making it big overseas but didn't quite hit fruition...) of the 80s...
