    Translation for anyone whos interested
    Poi
    Swing out rhythmically, my feelings
lean out beside me, so deceptively.
Swing round and down, spin towards me
    just like a fantail.
Swing to the side: swing to and fro
    zoom down, wriggle,
climb up above, swarm around me
my whirling emotions, my poi, Yeah!
    Oh my feelings, draw near,
Oh my poi, don't go astray
Oh my affections, stick to me
Oh my instincts, take care of me
Oh my emotions, be entwined around me.
    Oh poi, our love...
    Oh poi ...binds.
    Poi.... my poi, yeah!

I watched the awesome movie for this song and at the end they had the English subtitles for the song I think these have more meaning made me like the song and movie even more hope you like it too😊
      Take flight
My sweet. Young fledgling to distant shores
      Which will challenge you
And should you ever doubt yourself look deep inside and dance with the joy of a fantail.
      Bobbing and weaving
      Shaking and swaying
      Spinning and twirling
      Moving and grooving
      Moonwalking to the heavens
Fanning out your tail to the world my one and only sweet. Precious child
      POI E
      Stay close to me
      POI E
      Never lose your identity
      POI E
      Embrace your culture
      POI E
      It will see you through
      POI E
      Let it always be
      POI E
      Our love for each other

Wow! This brought back some sweet memories and a few chicken skin.
I was in high school when I first heard this in our Hawaiian Club in school. It was an instant fav at the time for us young teens.
I’m guessing the reason was, as I still feel today, it was cool and refreshing to see, and hear, our Polynesian brothers and sisters present to the world part of their culture and willing to have an open mind to the world by blending part of what was happening in music at the time.
Yes, it had a little hip-hop. But, it was ALL Maori Mana. And it was amazing.
I’m looking forward to seeing the movie of how it all got together.
Thanks for bringing back some truly sweet memories of my youth.
