@@Nirsterkur you are so right my brother, you are like a walking encyclopedia on Thor, and his number one fan, hope you're doing well, keep up cheering on Thor and get him back to the top.
.... Ok... Odin's changed since I last saw pictures. On a serious note, that's massively impressive. Grip strength is so important and I try to train it frequently.
By the look of the thickness of the shaft, I would guess that it is like the Thomas Inch dumbbell, requiring both strength and a very long thumb/hand capable of putting that strength into action.
@Papaspronator no therr isnt. Theres episodes where he challenges his dad to strength feats but none of him casually training. He doesnt casually train anymore. He did when he was younger though.
@ no he does train. There are multiple videos where he talks about and shows his dad’s training regimen and fitness goals that he does regularly train for. Maybe you have missed those but I have not. Obviously he doesn’t train as hard or as regular as Thor so maybe that is what Thor meant by he doesn’t “train”.
Dad and mom strength is very real. I actually felt myself getting stronger when my son was born. My arms are visibly a inch or so wider in diameter too
yeah old man strength is definitely I think, you made laugh out loud though since it sounded like the excuses I made forgetting to mention atleast the inch added to my stomach :D
I know a guy named Andy that has his dads build. About 6'4 220 lbs and a monster. He works on oil rigs and I've never saw anyone do things Andy does. I feel like Andy could do this too. Just a pure athletic specimen.
His grip is so strong because he has actually done physical LABOR in his long life. No gym will ever develop a body like being in a position where you must use your body daily to make your living. ( opinion of a 53 year old tradesman with 15 years working out in a gym, in my youth)
Size of the hand also play a major role. When your like 6"10' like Thor or his father you have gigantic hands that allow you grab that extra large handle.
I can lift a garrafon(5 gallon water jug that they put into the machine) straight up onto a table but the cap but then I tried to lift something where I cannot completely wrap my hand around the cap and I couldn't do it. I think it was largely my ability to wrap my hand around
Very impressive and world class strength. Luke couldn't pick it up and he held it longer than Tom so that's not his limit. Luke is a multiple time WSM finalist and Europe's strongest man two years ago. This is an exceptional feat of strength by itself but is even more exceptional when factoring his body composition and the fact he never competed in strength sports.
@kevbulaj7259 hes in a few videos competing against thor in strength competitions that thor puts together. But never has he casually trained in a video.
I would not believe it if I hadn't seen it. The path never taken...he gets to live, vicariously through his son, in the Strongman world though - that there is Thor's genes, inherited and proof that good genetics are a thing
Considering Thor's dad was a champion arm wrestler in Iceland, it's really no surprise he lifted the Thomas Inch barbell with relative ease. Insane grip strength!✊️
Having big hands is insanely important to this lift. He’s very tall with big long hands and probably grew up doing at least a little bit of manual labor. For some people, that’s all that’s needed to do this.
2 muscles are important for grip strength. Everything else helps though. I take it, this dude dad has a trade that requires a lot of that. Strong men push and pull to lift, grip strength just comes with. As to this dude dad, he’s probably been using certain muscles for a while. Idk XD
A lot of it is hand size. He's skinny, but he's got big paws. If you can get your fingers around it and wrap around your thumb, then you need a lot less grip strength.
Gotta remember, he's almost seven foot, so he's got proportionately big hands/long fingers which go a long way to addressing the grip issues posed by the thick bar. He may lack in size compared to these guys, but he also does train a lot with Thor. Impressive no matter how you look at it.
Grip strength is easier for people with long finger hence why mark felix does so well in grip strength, ime sure luke would pick it up with longer fingers
@@Mr.Sr.Jr. But it makes perfect sense. Younger Stoltman lifted more and held the 65kg? much, much longer than his older brother. Aslo, look at who, pound for pound, have the craziest grip strength: rock climbers. And they're some of the leanest people wyou'll encounter.
As a former judoka would occasionally come across this super rare, I can remember each one even though a lifetime ago, luckily none were very good at judo, but ridiculously strong,
Thors dad with a wild sleeper build
That’s where he got his strength from his dad
