Or in English - Nothing Really Matters, it starts off with a woman dancing in white while Shakira sings Arabic scales before getting into the song which is done acoustically.

YES! I was waiting for this reaction from you ever since that compilation video with female singers with unique voices or something like that. Shakira is seriously underrated as a vocalist, since she actually can sing. Her voice lends itself better to the folk and rock songs that she started off with, instead of the more pop songs that she is more globally known for. Her voice is actually quite high and breathy, and has a youthful timbre to it. But she tends to force this deeper sound especially when she belts, which has become her signature "goat" voice. I really hope you react to more Shakira songs, especially her live performances! I think she may surprise you, and there's quite a lot of songs from her both English and Spanish (and French, Catalan, etc) that are honestly vocal gems. I look forward to reactions to her live performances of No, Ojos Asi and Inevitable one day! Peace!
It's funny I have loved her Spanish music since the 90s when she came out and as much as I love her unique voice, inflections and tones, I don't like it as much when she sings in English. Not sure why.

The issue with her is that she is not a formally trained singer, reason for her technical failures and little control, her way of singing is influenced by many genres so different from each other (arab music, rock, Colombian folk, Latin music), but they have something in common, style, flavor and emotion are the main thing. her voice is all the time modulating and changing the way she vocalizes and projects her voice, creating contrasts, sometimes they work well and sometimes they turn out very, very bad.
