A lot of the music I react to is from Artist/Bands from outside of the US. Phenomenal music...so I don't believe the old adage that in order to be successful they have to be successful here. There is just so much more out there all one has to do is look.

Most of it, but yes, that's how you feel the music...let it touch your soul :)
Shakira has a broad range of styles and all of them are worth it live. Her roots as an artist came from rock in Spanish and solid ballads, then introduced the Arabic sounds 'cause her father is from Lebanon and she does belly dance since she was a kid. When she broke through the Anglo market she introduced the Latin sounds, so you can see her singing a lot of styles and dancing along. I'm not a fan of what she was doing since she became worldwide, I rather her first works, but I'm amazed at how she managed to make great live performances with her very manipulated voice.
She is very talented and you can see/hear the multiple influences when she sings, it is one of the things that makes her truly unique.

She has other songs in English like her tribute to Aerosmismith, Gypsy, Underneth your clothes, objection, waka waka......but my favorite is her song NO live where she is wearing a red dress (is in Spanish, but you can find the lyrics in English in her website.
Her Oral Fixation albums are like her thesis. She's described them as such and you can also feel it. Volume 1 is in Spanish and Vol. 2 is in English. Please consider reacting to Vol 2. It's her purest form
