Best tires made, I've had them on my 2WD for 2 years now and I'd never go back to the stock tires. I have a heat sink on my motor with a fan and never have heat problems. Took some time figuring out the right ratio but once I got it I haven't changed a thing. Great looking ride man.
What gear ratio did you end up with? I'm thinking about doing this with mine. I like running a 3S but my motor likes to overheat. Looking into a Mamba X setup and 2200mkv motor.
I got Rustler and bought Slash (2wheel drive) later just to have one shortcourse truck - loving it how the wide body with wheels hidden under moves when it turns and it jumps nicely as well. Two different trucks and both good to have :)
Nice tires and I do love the new Proline hub changing wheels they looks cool with the screws around the center. These will be my next tires once I wear out the stock tires I think! No more buying tires for me until I use and wear out what I have haha have too many tires in storage

@@joshdunbar9721 Thanks. The Prolines in 2.8 that come with a 17mm hex seem to be discontinued and a bit hard to find. They had F11 rims and 17mm hex. Of course you can buy the 2.8 with 12mm hex buy 17mm hex separately but cost goes up. I actually want them for my Arrma Typhon.
Man I got these wheels for my rustler 4x4 vxl and they look sick but the car is like uncontrollable i just barely tap the throttle and it half backflips and I’m in grass going about half throttle again barely tap the throttle and it flips I’m running a 15 tooth pinion though should I go down or up sorry I’m new to rc if this is obvious
Was looking into getting new tire but not sure what I’m gonna get for shocks! I do not like my factory shocks at all. They’re not good at all. My truck bottoms out
Got these tires, but they wobble like hell in the front, and in the rear they stand so narrow and have so much toe-in that they scrape the body. Guess you have wider arms on your Rustler, but then it would be a shame that I didn't hear about any of that in the video. The wheels themselves are great. It's not their fault they're not fitting.
What size pinion is stock on the vxl? I have the brushed version. Im going to upgrade to the max10 combo sct. The rustler got shelved after two weeks for some faster stuff. I want to build it up for my daughter. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you Sir, I like the way you shoot your videos.
After having this tires for some time now what are your thoughts? I recently purchased some Traxxas sledgehammer tires and they tore my rustler apart. Any negative side effects with this upgrade?
@@KaizerTest the size and weight of the tires just caused lots of issues. At first the rustler seemed almost bulletproof until I put them on. I immediately started breaking axles front and rear. Blew out shock caps and broke steering components and over heated. This was all under the same driving conditions I was driving on before installing the tires. I ended up getting big bore shocks and tekno drive shafts and still bent a drive shaft and broke a cup. Iv since sold the tires on Craigslist and had zero issues on my stock tires but I miss the grip of the bigger tires.
@@ajbirtch7106 Yeah I hear you. I have Slash 4x4 that I had set up with mod1 gears as a speed run car. I managed to get it to 93mph but built a low CG slash and converted my original one back to dirt. BUT I kept it as 6s with mod1 gears. I broke all my axles so put steel one in the rear. Then I put 2.8 Trenchers on and kept breaking front driveshafts almost immediately. Mind you I am beating it silly by jumping it...lol. I will have the vid up in a few days. I finally pulled my Arrma Typhon out to jump it off the same ramp and let me tell you that thing jumps far and flys so straight. I will be starting to drive my Arrma's more now. The Traxxas need too much to make them tough to really bash that might as well get a 6s Arrma from the beginning. I still have a Slash 4x4 dedicated and modded to do speed runs. So far it's up to 105mph but I'm really enjoying the bashing now but it gets very expensive as I am breaking parts every time I go out...lol.

Have you ever tried the actual mini E-Revo (since you mentioned that's what you wanted from this truck)? That tiny thing can easily double-backflip of a tiny jump with Badlands, or triple+ backflip at full send, but sometimes it's just a bit too small so I've been thinking about converting my Slash Ultimate into kind of a mid-point between E-Revo 2.0 and the 1/16 and I don't know if it makes sense to do.
Any issues with over heating running the larger tires? I was after the traxxas sledgehammers but may do these on my rustler instead. Just don’t wanna run it too hot
do you have to make any adjustments to the motor when changing wheel types? im new to the whole RC car thing and i have a rustler with stock wheels that dont last very long.
Have you had any problems with the hexes on these wheels stripping? I have them and they are too big. I've stripped out a couple which I had to replace, but it's useless since it will happen again. Never had this happen before and I tighten my wheels nice and tight with a ratchet, not the tiny Traxxas tool and I also have good brand new hexes. Any tips? Am I supposed to shim them somehow?
Just bought a stampede vxl tsl and these mx28 wheels. Is it difficult to replace the "pinion"? Aren't the different offsets so that the wheels line up like they do with the factory wheels? What are you putting thicker oil in? I just drive mine in training mode and it's plenty fast for me. Just bought it to chase geese and needed these tires to get more traction in grass.
I'm confused with the 2.8 wheels. Rustler and stampedes use 2.8s yet the tire sizes are different. I like the stock rustler tire size. I'd just like tires that won't blow apart.
They will most definitely be harder on everything they are bigger and very heavy compared to stock. The car feels very different but it's fun. The weight and traction make it awesome for offroad and it wants to wheelie and flip a lot. I doubt stock axles will last a more than a couple of packs on 3s.
solving the same issue now - I just put them on but didnt change pinion so far.. will it try on 2s first so motor will not get overheated.. I will appreciate any suggestions - thank you. To be honest Im a bit scared to run it of 3s as the tires are much heavier and it would propably break the plastic shafts etc... lets see
my rustler with a 3s and the 17t pinion with stock tires can do flips off little bumps i dont understand how you mean by it doesnt flip i also i got a triple backflip on only a 3ft ramp
Sorry but going from the cold weather Traxxas a-arms to RPM is a downgrade to saggy less functional parts. You can run any wheel on any RC as long as you can regear back to stock final drive ratio. Altho you will have trouble with the weight of those tires on the Velineon system. You will be forced to use a much slower gearing to use them without excess heat.
Hot racing makes fans for ESC and motor.....that truck overheats big time without the fans, gear it down FYI....I have a video of my fans on my channel....cheesy but simple

I like the colour match of the arms to the green in the body. Thanks for sharing.

If they're anything like the trenchers, there will be almost zero ballooning
