I still have my first pickup, a 1976 ford F-250 highboy 4x4. I bought it in 1979 for $3,000 It had a 300 six/ 4 speed that i swapped for a 429 TJ about 1990. Just been sitting up here in Montana since 2000. I just can't sell it!! One of these days Ill get it going, it ran fine when I parked it so it shouldn't be too tough.
Cool truck. My girlfriend. Back in 1974 Add a 68. It was yellow, so they call little yellow. I think we're gonna go anywhere Down around the river through the gravel. Add it three hundred six Three owner three. Back in northern cal. Good old trucks background. Here's later I had a sixty eight bronco .🤙👍😎🙋♂️
That is one sweet truck. Love the old bumpsides. 390 FE is just icing on the cake. Trucks like that are non-existent here rusty Canada. The Falcon right behind is not too shabby either. A good buy Ramon. Thanks for sharing
True blue Ford dude! Nothing wrong with that brother! No GM HEI type distributor. Use a Ford electronic distributor triggering a GM HEI type module firing an E-core coil. Simple and cheap plus reliable.
Nice truck. I bet after getting that old gas out and running some good gas ran through it, it will be nice. Keep gears as is, that way you can tow without issues. 😊😊😊😊
My adopted family Munoz and I are all Chevy guys we have one renegade, my God Daughter's man Eddie Lopez, aka Edford, the only ford guy in the fam.. we love him so we put up with him🤣🤣. Gotta admit that is a cool truck. Shh don't tell my family.
Love the Life maybe a good idea to do more often the microphones are pretty good I did hear some like overspeeds from maybe the lag of one of the phones or whatever it was around you could hear a double voice of you but other than that the sound and the quality was awesome And as far as about the event you went to I actually like it I love burnout competitions especially Robbie Layton when he does his burnouts with his new pacer and Cletus as well maybe you should bank you a burnout vehicle or turn your truck into a burnout vehicle never know project project but you do your programming the way you do it I love all of it
Awesome, thank you for the feedback. We are talking about making a dedicated burnout truck. Not a lot of people know this, but I have a twin turbocharged Chevy S10 drag truck. Complete with racing seats and roll cage. We have been considering finishing the truck and making it into a competition burnout/skid car like Robbys. The truck is about 75% done as it sits. It's been sitting in my backyard for 2 years, just waiting for me to do something with it.
Love my Bumpsides! And with an FE to boot!! Now your yankin on my heart strings, Hec. 😊 Oh BTW.... Earlier Bumpsides, like '67-'68 ran a Borg-Warner T18, reverse was over and up. NP435, reverse is over and down. Now we need to talk about Ramon's Falcon. 😉
Awesome 👍 I thought the np was over and down. I had no idea about the t18. That's cool and good to know. That's his wife's falcon. He plans to put a 351 Cleveland and a T5 transmission in it. It runs and drives as is with the original engine and 3 on the tree. They drive it all over how it is now. Little car is in great shape.
Hey, congrats, little brother! That's one sweet old Ford!!! I'm more of a Mopar/GMC guy, but I would be proud to be cruising one of those myself! Thanks for sharing this with us, Hector!!!
Hell yeah that is an AWESOME truck bro, would love to have it. I've always liked the older ford's. The one I would really like to have is a 54. Love those truck. Thanks for the video bro can't wait for the next one.
Gotta love old Fords. Got me a yard full. So yeah, I either run the glass packs backwards. Or if you're way old school, double stack. A great day to y'all.
Man!!! And Carolina Blue too!! I had a 69 F250 w/360, Camper Special 4 speed, quickly changed out to a station wagon 390, 4brl and Blackjack Headers... Converted it to 1 ton suspension and GMC 18" duals by enlarging axel holes and fenders for clearance. Top end unlimited. Out ran the cop's with that puppy...
Nice daily, there aren't many of those here in Australia, everyone here scrap all the older cars, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
I had a 69 same colour as this one. It was basic as you could get. In-line, 3 on the tree, arm strong steering, standard brakes. It didn’t even have a radio, 2 wheel drive but it would go thru pretty much everything a 4 wheel drive would go.
When I was 19 I had a 67 bumpside with a 390 4 speed, I loved that truck.man this video brought up some feeling😅 thanks Hector," honey where's the checkbook"
I wouldn't bother disc brake conversion. I found all the spring kits, shoes, drums, etc and rebuilt the brakes. Stopped REALLY well. My 460 auto worked REALLY well with 3.00 gear. Pretty sure that would work well for you. I had a spare third member with 3.70 gears which was more fun but more gas.
Yes, it is as far as we know. But we don't really want to change much. He just wants to drive it as is. Mostly, he just wants to upgrade the brakes, is all.
Man, I really hope you don't CV that one. swap the beams out for 73-79 disc brakes and power steering, best thing I ever did was add those to my 66 F-100. If you find a power steering truck for parts, pull the column, inner and outer firewall brackets. they are different from non PS trucks. Cheers!
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I've been told in the past that they did put them in the camper special pickups. We were told by the previous owner that it was a 390. Either way, it's an FE engine for sure, and it runs really well.
Pull the #1 and #4 plugs. Bring either piston to TDC (its counterpart will be at BDC at that point). Measure difference in stroke to a solid referencing point. 390=3.785” 360/352=3.500”
I agree there's nothing like a old truck like the truck's from the late sixties and the 70 s
👍
Brings back High-school days memories. Yep. My buddy Johnny. His bumpside was red.
This is a nice Ford and it has one of my favourite Ford engines in it.Nice deal.😊😊😊😊
Sweet ride! The 390 is a beast as well.

That is awesome. I would do anything to have my first one back. I absolutely love those trucks.
300 inline 6? Hell ya! No downshifting, just hit the accelerator and go.
Bad ol pickup Ramon!
Miss my 61 uni sb.
292Y, 312 heads, granny 4 speed......good Truck.
I love the unibodys I sold one last year. It was a 62 short bed. I'm really regretting that now..
Awesome 69,, love that lite blue paint,, if your bro needs some it called sky view blue,,
Awesome, thank you
Cool truck.

Awesome. I love the broncos, too
Sweet little Ford dude. 🎉

Thank you.
Now that's a proper truck. Great score!
If that gearbox is an old Np435 don't need no dang clutch other then stop/start once he gets used to it.
Those rear main seals though are something else to deal with.

I had a 1970 special Custom with a 360, granny 1st. Damn I miss that old ford😢
Wow man id love to find an old Ford like that.
He has been looking for a long time.
I believe the “propper” terminology is “all two of em” on them diffs. Sweet lil Ford.
🤣👍
nice clean old ford, look better if you pin stripe it, and lower it 2 inches.
Good idea!

Thank you, man. We appreciate you

I'm a ford guy and have to agree, Hector, a cheap hei all the way. Best move I ever did.
Great truck!
I've done it a few times, and it just makes them so much more reliable. 👍
Sweet truck guys
Very good work horse I watching your channel from Australia 🇦🇺 all best in your next venture
Awesome! Thank you!

Thank you. I truly do appreciate that very much. Thank you

Man!!! And Carolina Blue too!!
I had a 69 F250 w/360, Camper Special 4 speed, quickly changed out to a station wagon 390, 4brl and Blackjack Headers...

Niice 🤣👍
Love old cars, love this content and we love howlin’ wolf garage! 🎉
Thank you so much
Definitely an upgrade . Beautiful old rig
My 96 Bronco have those rims on it.
you could also put a crown vic front end under it
Super nice find, nothing like this left up here in the rust belt.
I would paint both of those old trucks that same color also with the trailer same color
That would be cool
Pertronix under the existing distrbutor cap. Done. EFI.. Holley or the one Rory uses, no fuss no muss.
Awesome
Nice daily, there aren't many of those here in Australia, everyone here scrap all the older cars, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Thank you. That is sad they are all mostly scraped.
Sweet Ride. Would love to find on that nice around here.🧐👍👍✌✌
I had a 69 same colour as this one. It was basic as you could get. In-line, 3 on the tree, arm strong steering, standard brakes. It didn’t even have a radio, 2 wheel drive but it would go thru pretty much everything a 4 wheel drive would go.
They are definitely some good tough old trucks. 👍
I’m jealous 😊
Hey Hector u guys should name that truck UNCLE JESSIE from dukes of hazard the old man drove a Ford truck like that lol 😆 😂 🤣 😉
When I was 19 I had a 67 bumpside with a 390 4 speed, I loved that truck.man this video brought up some feeling😅 thanks Hector," honey where's the checkbook"
I light have to find me one now..lol
@@rockabillychavez or just find a 68 chevy and challenge him to race 😂
That’s awesome!
Dad had same truck but in Red with the 360 3 speed on the tree and lasted forever
Replaced the dog 360 with a 390 in my 76 High Boy. All the difference in the world.
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Sweet truck !
Congrats my friend
That makes me want to get my 71 going
thats a beauty old truck up here in ontario canada they all rotted away years ago great video
SWEET!
Love Black Label Society sticker!
Nice truck you need to get a gas station to feed that 390 😂😂😂
🤣👍
Yep 👍
Bad ass
Love that truck!! Y’all got good taste.
Throughout this whole video I was imagining all the things I would do if this were my truck. Is the drivetrain original?
Yes, it is as far as we know. But we don't really want to change much. He just wants to drive it as is. Mostly, he just wants to upgrade the brakes, is all.
Have not seen a video from you in two months
I put one or two out every week. I'm happy you came back to see us.
Nice truck! Don't need nothin GM under that hood. Keep Fords all Ford and Chevy all Chevy.
I'm a 390 fan
Man, I really hope you don't CV that one. swap the beams out for 73-79 disc brakes and power steering, best thing I ever did was add those to my 66 F-100. If you find a power steering truck for parts, pull the column, inner and outer firewall brackets. they are different from non PS trucks. Cheers!
Awesome, thanks for sharing. Other than disk brakes, it's probably going to stay the way that it is.
yee Haw!!
Pftt didn’t even test the horn! How are all them slow old Chevys going to get out of your way in time? 😂
😂😂
I'm gonna say Leave The Distributor Alone!! Just put in a Petronix Electronic Ignition Kit in it and go, A Lot Cheaper and Easier!!
You like to steer vehicles? Not drive them. Your brother can get a crown Vic front end, for that power steering and a modern suspension
That would be a cool swap on down the line for sure.
It’s pretty easy to and surprisingly cheap at the junkyard get rotors calipers everything
Ford did not put 390 in pick up
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I've been told in the past that they did put them in the camper special pickups. We were told by the previous owner that it was a 390. Either way, it's an FE engine for sure, and it runs really well.
The 390 FE was an option in gen 5 series F series pickups. Because it has a two barrel carburetor it could be a 360.
They offered the 390 in pickup's up till 1976
Pull the #1 and #4 plugs. Bring either piston to TDC (its counterpart will be at BDC at that point). Measure difference in stroke to a solid referencing point. 390=3.785”
360/352=3.500”
Nice truck, but it could also be a 352
