    Interesting video Pete! I've seen these on the shelves and been wanting to check them out (love their branding), but honestly had no idea where to start. Appreciate the cheat sheet!

      @@UnclePete I'm keeping my eyes open for the Austrailian one after this!

    I recently picked up a bottle of the Australia and was very impressed as well. It's unique compared to Caribbean pot still offerings and to me is somewhat reminiscent of the Plantation Fiji but more refined with a little more depth and flavor. I was thinking of getting the Panama as well and I think you might have convinced me. Really enjoyed the video. Thanks for the excellent content.

    OMG..Andrew's at your house? I'm so close, I woulda drove on up! Fun collab and so, so much information here. I eventually make it up there. I'll hit you up on discord for the store or stores you procured the Jamaican and Australian! I got the location of last one! I find 5 yr rums to be middle of the road for me. I do like the barrel in there but just depends on the day really! LOL..I love Jamaican rums I believe the most really! So many rums to try, so little time! Thanks U.P!

    Hello Uncle Pete. Malécon 13 rum is really good with a nice aromatic power despite a small addition of sugar. Otherwise Mézan 2010 is greedy and subtle without addition or filtration. Cheers 🍸

    • @UnclePete
      @UnclePete  Год назад +1

      Oh thanks! Looks like I could get Malecon 12, There are a couple of Mezan available here, thte Xo which is Jamaican I think, and a Guyana, so I'll have to keep looking for that.
      I appreciate the recommendations!

    • @philgringo2438

      @@UnclePete Malécon rums are of high quality. Mézan XO has Worthy Park and a banana flavor but is quite sweet and not very complex but Guyana 2008 and 2011 are of good quality. Rum Nation and Rum Plantattion have some Panama too. Tcrl Worthy Park must be very good too but is unfortunately no longer available, especially since WP is my favorite distillery.

    • @UnclePete
      @UnclePete  Год назад +1

      I have a feeling that TCRL will release more WP bottles, It has to be pretty popular.

  • @gocatbert
    @gocatbert Год назад +1

    Great side by side comparison of TCRL offerings. May have to pick up that Worthy Park next time I am in Portland. Similar to you, I find many of the younger WPs to outshine their older siblings.

    When it comes to Panamanian rum looking for el Ron de Artesano is worth it. They are importing Panama rum to Germany and experiment with high quality barrels. They are also in the process of launching an own distillery in Panama

    Where's Aunt Susan with the dubbing? A still on a ship seems pretty useful. I wonder if they alternated between desalinating water and making booze.

    • @UnclePete
      @UnclePete  Год назад

      Good question. It seems like it might be a little dangerous to have on the ship as well.
      I might have to see if we can do that auntie Susan dubbing gag again....

    Are you telling me you visited the Bay Area and didn't come to the best bar in the area? (that'd be my bar) For shame! 😄 And why is it the best bar in the area? Because it's free. 😁

      @@UnclePete Perhaps reasonable that your visit would focus on people you actually know 😉 I'm in Albany, just north of Berkeley in the East Bay. About a 20 min walk from the El Cerrito Plaza BART station, but I'd gladly pick you up there on your next visit, if you want to come by. 🙂 We also have some great food and drink here! I rather suspect you'd love The Hotsy Totsy (dive bar with awesome drinks), and Juanita & Maude are fantastic for a treat meal + cocktails.
