Today we are going to learn how to play one of my all time favorite songs to play on the Ukulele, or any stringed instrument, La Canción del Mariachi, made famous by the intro to Robert Rodriguez film, Desperado. The song was written by Los Lobos and in the intro to the film Antonio Banderas shreds a solo while kicking bad guys right in the face, awesome. It is because of this song that everyone in Medellín would also go "uh oh, el desperado llegó" when I carried my guitar case around town, I heard a lot of jokes about it being full of machine guns.
One of the coolest parts of this song is for sure the epic intro riff, we will break that down as well strum pattern because another massive part of this song, and música latina played on the guitar is the rasgueo, known in Castellano (the word for the type of Spanish spoke in the Americas) as the strum pattern. In addition I will teach you how to play all the other pieces to the song so by the end of the tutorial you will be able to play the entire song.
