In this beginners guide tutorial I show you how to install the new Expansion AI DayZ PC Mod - an add-on that allows you to spawn in NPC patrols that can be friendly or aggressive, and can move around set waypoints or guard locations.
I show you how to install the mod on your local and remote community servers (using Nitrado an my example), and some basic config guidance, including how to access the debug mode so you can spawn AI in game.
Expansion AI is a work in progress, but it looks pretty good so far, and I'm looking forward to see how it develops next!

9:02 I've been playing on a server where AI and zombies spawn together at heli crashes. It's fantastic! As soon as the heli-crash spawns in, the AI gunshots alert you, the player, to the location when you are 2 kilometers away in dense forest. The zombies are usually dead by the time to get there.
This AI mod is really good for pvp practice, and soooo much faster to copy paste onto a local server than waiting for it to upload to my Nitrado Servers. Great Video Rob!

So I'm having an uissue a small one but maybe are you still using this mod? All my AI have my username everyone of them are Koolbreeze.
This is amazing, my only gripe is.....why didn't the developers just add this from the start???? I am getting really tired of games of this nature not having AI options

Like right now, I have AI up and working. Waypoint patrols working fine, the preset object patrols are working fine (heli's, police cars, contaminated areas) I tried to take things a step further as you implied and assign object patrols to a few things, like repeater rifles, colt1911, green wellies and a couple other random objects so there would be random groups posted up throughout the map...... Problem is, I'm teleporting around with ESP and I'm not seeing any of these AI actually spawning in? I have min distance radius set low so thats not an issue. Any ideas?
Try spawning in a working car, drive away from the spawn point for about a mile, then drive back to the spawn to see. Also check the mods discord.
@@ScalespeederGaming What I ended up doing was creating like 150 waypoints all around the map using the editor and assigned a patrol to each of them (in addition to the 20+ multi waypoint patrols I already had set up) I set the min/max spread to 150/250 so they spawn some distance away and walk to the waypoint instead of just spawning in on it and remaining static.

For whatever reason, whenever I start up the server, it starts using an insane amount of memory. I have 16 GB of ram, but as I watch the server in task manager it just increases until the memory use reaches 99% and then crashes. Don't know why this is happening.
AI literally counts as a player, and each player who would join your server, would also take a chunck of memory. Also they eat a bit of server fps also. As usual it is a balancing act, like everything with DayZ
This mod is pretty sweet. Those bots are stunlock masters lol
Can anybody help my steamuid is in my aisettings JSON but I can't access patrol admin menu in expansion settings (controls) something has to be up cus my ai is abit buggy too

Can you put in the objects actual stuff that is already on the map? For example one of the classnames of tower antenna? I tried it but for the moment the AI are invisible for some reason.
I've got this mod to work, all except for the debug menu. I checked and it is bound to T, and I have my id put in AISettings.json
Is there something else that I should be doing as well?
Don't forget to put quotation marks around your steam ID number
I have my server AI's set up with specific names but they are not changing in game/world. They are stuck as " Survivor" Please help

I am having an issue where the Expansion folder is not showing up in my config folder in order to put my steam ID. I have not found a solution to this, how do I fix this?
Hey man, so "Expansion" folder isn't being created in my config folder. Keys are in place, .bat is correct (with the same order as yours) and required addons are installed. Idk what's happening. Game/server starts/runs smoothly, so I assume that Expansion addons are not being installed. Got any ideas?

Its crashes when i open the bat file cause it runs out of memory
Not sure why, as i have the mod loaded properly and in the correct order - but my debug console doesn't show up. Server runs, and sees the mod though.
So what does this mod do exactly? I want to get dayz but my internet has always been really slow, and Id just like to play on a local server with zombies and ai bots, is this possible?
I cant access the in game menu, i hit the "T" and nothing happens, ive added my steamID to config file..im stumped
for some reason my pc as my laptop gets this error where when the server starts it gives me this error saying out of memory and than some sort of requested amount in KB and than something about footprint KB

but as of right now i can't get the Expansion mod running at all on my local server.
as it keeps running out of memory on start up even though I've got 16GB of ram it there any way to over come this with out having to buy more Ram?
You failed to either notice or mention that both the Expansion-AI key and the Expansion key are both "Expansion.bikey", making it impossible to copy both over to the server folder without not including one of them. This detail, as trivial as the answer may be or seem, one could consider to be "key".

All my AI have my username everyone of them are Koolbreeze how do I change them? These mods are weird cause they have no files to add to the types.xml, the vehicles mod there copters all despawn and they are not in the types.xml and I don't really understand how these mods do things in comparison to other molds where you add stuff to types.xml like the trade mod you add rubles.
Well, I also have a Nitrado server, but no matter how much I set the order, the server stops after half a minute and it doesn't work like that!

Thanks for all the info mate. Just one question - I can make myself admin just fine, but how about adding another Stream ID so a mate and I can both be admins? I want him to be able to spawn AI too if he wants too. I haven't been able to figure it out yet..

You don’t mention it, but several mods have the same key naming… you have to overwrite to add other. I assume one key works for all, but might be a nice add in note to video of how to deal with it

might be the wrong place to ask, but none of the documentation for expansion mentions it, and comments are disabled, and i refuse to join a discord to ask one question, that should be clearly stated somewhere.
is there a way to do this on experimental? i know most of the dayz expansion works, but the ai part hard crashes the server on boot as the only one. there is an "experimental" version uploaded, but nothing mentions if this is just the dev branch, where they add features, and polish it before it gets added to the main one, or if it's to get it working on the experimental servers that some of us are forced to use, due to no linux support from the regular server(even though it has worked fine in experimental for years at this point)

another detail that is happening is that the BOTs/AI are not attacking each other even with different faction and different groups, something was changed or put in the mod that I am not able to solve, I have a server and the people are complaining a lot about the bots being like shit standing still without any reaction.

I can't seem to get the AI to spawn. I have spent weeks trying to get it to work. I am on the expansion discord and have asked for help and everything they said seems to be correct within my files but for whatever reason my custom AI on chernarus wont spawn. I set my own coordinates up, posted my AIPatrolSettings.json file which is valid into the discord and they don't know how to help further. This is a fantastic mod and I understand it's in early stages but people have working AI on chernarus. Any idea why I'm having issues?
Can you access the Debug Menu (press T in-game)? If not, and you have followed the instructions on the Workshop Page, it could be the MOD isn't installed correctly. Also, just create a custom object spawner json that spawns in a uh1 heli crash - AI will spawn in with it.
@@ScalespeederGaming I uninstalled DayZ, deleted all my files and local server, reinstalled DayZ and made a new local server, new batch file, basically started from scratch and I got it to work, AI now spawn with my own coordinates. I don't know what was wrong but I got it working. Your videos are very helpful and I've used them to help setup my DayZ server and the mods. I appreciate the reply to try and help.

Good night friends... I'm facing a little problem with this mod, after some updates the BOTs/AI are not attacking anymore, before they just appear in an open view no matter the distance within a radius of 1000 meters they shoot or come up, now some only come up or shoot me before 100 meters and some only attack me if I attack them, does anyone know how to solve this?
well my friend , seems like they screwed things up. and i think they probably wait for the new update to solve this.
its a bit silly question , but nonetheless . i am running server on my laptop and play on it at the same time , have like 15 mods . specs are i5 9300h 2,4gh-4,1ghz 4 core 8 threads , 8gb ram (maybe that was the problem , another 8gb module is on the way!!!) rtx 2060 6gb and 512gb ssd . till i installed the expansion ai mod (only expansion core + expansion ai) everything was running fine , got around 60-80 fps depends on areas , no lag at all , could drive cars with no problem . but now as i installed the ai mod , it lags . not everytime , but often . could that 8gb ram be the problem and would it solve the another 8gb module ? or its solely cpu problem ? once i disable the expansion , everything is running as before , no lag at all (btw the fps are still the same , only difference is that lag). cause my ram usage is around 7,5 gb out of the 8gb . thanx for answer
I'd imagine Expansion AI uses a lot of cpu power.
list of mods i am using : Community framework , Dabs , expansion aI , expansion core , more materials , dayz navigation , additional medic supplies , airdrop upgraded , role play mod , plus 200 recipes , mortys weapons , pvzmod the dark horde , much stuff pack ,more food , banov . most of them are tweaked for the banov map (by myself) + created "hordes" + new spawn points for zombies etc.
so yeah , i saw in your video that your memory usage is around 4 gb , so i assume once i got the another 8gb module its going to be good . hopefully
@@ScalespeederGaming well , today i recieved the additional ram , upgraded and works perfect without lag , before it was using 7,500 mb out of 8,000 (together with system , server and game) now it eats up to 12gb (together with system ,server and game) got less stutter , and lags are gone . nonetheless thanx for response and for your videos . did help me a lot ;) wish you all the best

I'm curious if the Expansion Ai mod will work on servers not running DayZ Expansion. I noticed on Steam that DayZ Expansion was not a prerequisite but can anyone confirm this?
It only needs Expansion core and then expansions AI, that how I run my servers.

Make sure you have all the mods you need, some require another mod to work. Zomberry requires that you run CF for example. For DayZ-Expansion-AI, you need DayZ-Expansion AND DayZ-Expansion-Core.

never. in order to do console, you have to be able to mod the console files themselves. no mods can run on consoles.
im getting an odd error when trying to launch the bat. "addon dayzexpansion_structures_walls requires addon dz_structures_walls" and i cant find anything about fixing that. it wont successfully launch the server without that. if you dont have a quick idea, can i message you on one of the discords you're on? we spoke a few months back on a big mod's discord.

Hope you read this. I have been trying to get the AI to work for a few hours and noticed there are no updated tutorials for the AI when downloaded as part of the bundle. There is a new line added here

Check their discord or wiki for updated instructions.
both Expansion AI and Expansion Core has the same name file for keys, should i overwrite or keep both in the keys folder for server?

ive been on servers that run this AI as well as the selective spawning mods, so i think if theyre done right, it should work

i dont have that main config folder inside the main dayz server folder..., but also without them the server work fine
I got the same issue, hoping someone else knows about it. If you find a fix please let me know. ive already played in the server everything works but i cant get the config or settings folder to appear.
Edit: Got the folder to appear but still nothing other than config.vdf is in it. It appeared after loading into the world and logging off turning off server and me coming back the very next day.

I doubt anyone is sharing that after all the time you have to spend to get them working lol. You have to do like he says and use DayZ editor to drop survivors where you want your waypoints. Then export that to "object spawner." You then find and open that file with notepad++ and copy over the coordinates, using the same exact format. Something else he doesn't clarify is that you cant leave anything blank, faction, formation, loadout and waypoint interpolation all have to be filled in or it wont work.
