If you are new to DayZ whether that is on Console or PC and you are looking for a detailed walkthrough then this is the video for you!
I will spawn in Fresh on an EU First Person Only Server (DayZ EU DE 1297) and explain what thought processes go through my head as I incrementally try to find the loot that will give me the best chances to not only survive but to eventually go inland to thrive and find even better loot!
In honesty I wanted to make a series of videos I wish I had been able to watch when I first booted up DayZ on Xbox Series X 3 2 years ago or so and I intend to do a lot more of them using different spawns to give everyone a chance to see what I would do regardless of what situation I am put in.
I record these unscripted and unedited and in one take. Whatever happens in the life goes in the video so expect some epic fails from time to time!
We Stream every week day except Wednesday from 10am (UK time) to 2pm and from the new year will try to release recorded content such as this one on Wednesday Evenings and Sundays!

I kept wanting to yell “Make a Bone Knife!” For those who don’t know, if you have 2 bones you can craft a bone knife. That being said, this is an excellent, and yes, very detailed introduction to the game. I wish I had found something like this when I started playing.

Yes but to get bones you need a knife or something similar to cut up an animal or human 😂 just get rocks, any 2 handed weapon can get you a rock and then sharpen the rock on the bigger rock and now you have a stone knife.
Bone knife is literally the first goal...can't find a knife? Hang out by the rail tracks for 5 or so minutes...a small stone will show up that you can craft into a stone knife....one will show up in the vicinity. Or, use a crow bar. Food will be beat....but you will still get bones.
you can also only use one bone if you face a boulder to make the knife so your char is grinding 1 bone on the boulder

Constructive feedback only - perhaps explaining how to block and what keys to press for power hits, etc would be useful. I realize some folks are great at figuring it out on the go, but not all of us are naturals at that (I have to have explanations because I'm old LOL).

Yeah gear management is something I'm still working on.. i tend to hold on to too much. Gear fear. But that's why I'm wanting to make a few stash spots here and there across the map. And only hold whats necessary. But I'm learning.. only have 500 hours.
Yeah once I lost my "gear fear" I started to enjoy the game a lot more and if you are collecting stuff for an NBC run for example a buried stash is a great way to go imo!

Everything on console is the same as official PC servers apart from the inventory management and the fact you are using a controller!

Early game tip for anyone, try and make improvised hand wraps ASAP when you get a few rags. This will help prevent you from eating with bloody hands and getting sick early on while trying to get your vitals up

Mushrooms in your description is a 50/50, you yourself spawn them. Now if you run up on many, then yeah someone came through before you.

I like to head straight to train cars to get warmer clothing and tools and work my way north eating mushrooms.
Train cars are great for early loot.

Step One: Find Chicken.
Step Two: Kill Chicken.
Step Three: Find a gun with ammo.
Step Four: Head to Tisy.
Step Five: Get used to dying.
Humor aside....Look up at night. The major constellations are correct. Find the Big Dipper....Find Polaris: A line straight down to the Horizon: That is North. No big dipper? Find Orion, his sword pointing down to the horizon mostly south....closer to exact south if you line his sword pointing straight down on your left thumb knuckle held out at length. Find south...you know North...find North, you know South. East and west fall in place. Go Northwest. Livonia? Go South. Some people talk about where the ocean is depending on your spawn location. Ocean on your Right: You might be going East or North. Ocean on your Left...you might be going South or West...you have to know Cities with this information to know if you are on the South shore or the East Shore. USE THE STARS.
While more difficult...shadows work as well if navigating in the day. These two aspects alone made me really appreciate this game. If you are lost....it's because you do not know how to read a compass, a map, or the very stars over your head. (one of the three you spawn in with) Once you play long enough to know where the Major cities are...you will always know where you are on the map...and the heavens will point the way. Honestly...the biggest challenge in this game for a new player is knowing where the hell you are. There are huge swaths of emptiness out there....and if you venture into them with low stats and no sense of direction....you will run in circles and die under a bush....alone, cold, and hungry....wishing you had something to end it all with. DayZ can deliver on the slow death too...
Stay on the coast for awhile...run along the beach, you will find fishing poles and lures for getting guaranteed food....so long as you made a knife from that chicken I was talking about earlier to dig up bait (and collect kindling to make fires to cook that food)...do not depend on looting to feed you....feed yourself. Explore the coast....get to know it...then go inland. When you die...( you will die) you will spawn and find a town and immediately know where you are without a compass or a Map. Do you want to PVP or just play the best Survival game of all time? Survive first....PVP when surviving is easy.
I have survived in the same town for more than half an hour...I have survived in the same town for almost 30 in game days....just learning. I know every building in the town...I know where I can be seen, and where I cannot be seen. Come into my town...I got a lame BK that says "Thanks for delivering loot" Pros say leave the coast....don't stick around....Gear up! I say...hang out, learn the lay of the land....do not gear up. yet...learn to survive the environment....then learn to survive the survivors.
This guy went from n00b player to loot goblin real quick. Love loot Goblins. They do all the hard work. #ratlife ftw.

You can eat one or two bites of rotten fruit, not more! Then throw it away and look for something else. You can not eat something else that is rotten for a period of time

I didn't have a mic at first.. but still finally met a friend. I tried my best to listen and give signs and point to where to go.. once we got some food heading outta chernog, everything was looking good. We ran into a small military convoy.. and I was smart by jumping up on to them crates.. but he didn't? and sadly they killed my friend!! It was the saddest and loneliest feeling I've ever felt so far in the game. I since got a mic but prefer just going solo.. mostly exploring. Thinking about building some stashes? Haven't had any luck since finding a decent person on official.

should you be able to attempt to loot all the zombies? loaded up for the first time yesterday, thought everything was lootable.. first 10 zombies i killed i couldnt even enter the inventory/loot mode, just said infected.. is that normal? you seemed to have the option to loot the first one you killed, think my game was buggin.. oh and i agree with everyone, legendary walkthrough mate, your voice is soothing and makes learning in a frustrating game very enjoyable!

I disagree about the map, I wandered around aimlessly for a long time, never having an idea of where I was because even if I knew I had been to a place before I had no sense of geographic relativity, after starting to use izurvive I have begun to rapidly learn the map and build up the web of locations in my mind, immersion is one thing but I honestly think the scale of the map and all the signs being in Cyrillic is one of the things that makes new players feel like making any significant progress is virtually impossible, and you can be pedantic about it not being how you think the game should be played, but knowing which direction will lead to the best potential outcome will increase your chance of survival by an order of magnitude, that provides a huge sense of reassurance and confidence which is what you want, especially early on.
Exactly dude..just play and learn the game whichever way gives YOU the most fun/enjoyment.
Im a new player on this game on ps5, im gaming since my 8, but i was keep dying in the beginning, very hard game this is if your new.. but now i keep survive for now.. haha, just don't pick everthing up.. go slowly.. and focus only food/water/clothing/repair kits for clothing/backpacks/sharping stones, the special stuff come's later when have backpack or something.. otherwise you going short in storage, and get in trouble.. and combine clothing along the way with something sharp to get rags.. to make some clothing/make fire.. really thank you for your help video.. it did helped me more to survive 😊
Only 1 questoin i have is when you are full gear up.. and you make things like chestbox to hide in a place.. you stay around that village/city? or going travel explore futher far away the map? (to be honest dont know if it is possible.. but i will like settle some where around 1 village or something is that possible or?
I like to explore that maps and not stay in one place but or a base or a stash for some extra loot is definitely a fun way of playing ots just not for me. I prefer to treat each life like a new adventure!

Does anyone have tips for getting knives. I've played probably 3.5hrs. which isn't a lot I know (died SO many times). Ive literally never found a knife, and found 1 rock that entire time (searched dirt roads and railroads for what felt like kms trying to find a second and couldn't.). Didn't know at the time I could use 1 rock against a big rock to make one.
Is there some easier way? Seems like its a very important tool for just about everything
If you are looting all houses and sheds around d spawn and killing g zeds that can drop knives it is off you can't find d any? Also with a hammer or pipe wrench or meat tenderiser or a crowbar you can mine small stones from a larger boulder to make small stones that you can then combine to make stone knives! Bones from animals and dead players can also be used to make bone knives just gold a stack of 2 or more bones in your hand and you should get the prompt!
I like to to run to high fences when being chased by players. Climb over it and its a patt situation. If the other guy climbs over the fence too, you can use the second it takes for the character to get up again to get the first hit in. If he tries to get around you just climb the fence again. So you need to be positioned in the middle of a straight fence or in the corner of two fences meeting. Cheesy and safe.
PS: Its rare to see a "live-guide" and its super refreshing, makes you way more credible than other players.
Edit: if you crafted a bone knife out of the bone I think you could have carved a hook as well and have a nice for worms, yikes?

I’ve only played on an official server and the graphics look more basic.
4080ti with a 1440p monitor
Monitor is 1080p Dell Monitor and GPU is 1650 GTX...tou don't need a fancy PC or Monitor to run this 10 year old game fortunately! The server details are in the description of this video too!

Do bone hooks take less space in the inventory compared to a pile of chicken bones?
Yes a bone hook is 1 x 1 slot and the bones are 2 x 2

No lie it took me about 10 deaths by numerous factors before I finally landed just outside Prigorodki. Finally managed to get hunger and hydration up to white. I traced the online map to the water well and kept going for apples. There is FAR too little food in the game as it is. Most of my deaths were due to hunger and not being able to find jack sh*t anywhere. One of them, I see Dubovo high rises in the distance. Go there and search practically the entire area and there was jack sh*t. All the apartments, nothing. Used to play the Arma DayZ and the supermarkets should have some stuff in them. It only makes sense to find food around there. I really don't like the fact food barely ever spawns in them anymore.
Loot doesn't spawn in apartments on Cherno so don't waste your time looking. Fishing is the most sustainable way to deal with food I've said this repeatedly and will die on that hill!
The reason you’re finding no loot is because you’re in a place of a map that has had a TON of people run through it, from new fresh spawn, to people who go in, grab some stuff and have to log off, get out of the spawn city asap, grab a tiny bit of food, I tend to look for fruit trees and mushrooms, I spent 5 minutes in my starter town and left with 8 mushrooms and 5 fruits, without going after zombies at all. After that, food is splendid, it’s hard at first but learn what to do and where to go and you’ll find food super easily
Thank you for making this. New to dayz and it's crazy. Only have played twice. I think I might just want to play 1st person mode. I got mine on my razer kishi on xbox game pass. Don't understand why my galaxy a15 can play xbox1 graphics but not arena breakout mobile and the lite version is worse than the reg version. It makes zero sense.

@codfatherofsoul and also I found out that xbox dayz you can't talk on mic idk why? It sucks, got a mic. I press left on the d pad and the mic symbol comes up but they can't hear me. I read something like the update messed it up or they took it out??? It's weird as hell. Was playing a lot and I love this game now. Still learning and don't act like I know how to do everything still. But it has got easy easier for me since I got the controller down
@6:20 My brother has that issue where he has a mic it works in discord but it will not work in DayZ. He even bought a new one thinking it was the mic. I have seen that a lot of people have this issue in DayZ and lots of people can not figure out how to make their mic work in DayZ. If you have a solution i am all ears.
I've never heard of that issue where multiple mics just "won't work" sorry dude.
its most likely some setting on there pc or in game that needs changed or something with the type of mic they used doesnt let it be used for more then one app at a time

You can either find a radio each and arrange to meet that way or if you don't mind breaking g immersion get in a Discord call with your friend.

My go to is loot my way to a hoe, water bottle and some seeds. You can, normally, survive until you get some crops harvested. Oh, you can punch zombies through windows. It's not easy at first, alot of cuts, but you can round up a few, run inside, shut the door and take your time lining them up.
That's a very legit strategy...planting crops etc but I just haven't got the patience to wait! All personal preference though!

Is there any hardcore servers for PS5?
I think there are variants of hard core on console but I couldn't recommend any sorry as I'm on PC.
As a longtime CS and Planetside 2 player. I could work with this.
The slight problem with this game - its often a running simulator and becomes rather boring
In my experience you never have to run in-between points of interest for more than a few minutes and it's not for everyone it's open sandbox and most of the time you have to make your own adventure.
@codfatherofsoul maybe the game shines during PvP interactions but PvE content is just meh. If you haven't encountered that player at the start of the video, the first 40 min would be you finding 2 soda cans and fishing rod.
All I'm hearing is the game is not for you and that's fine dude. Thousands love it billions don't. We move on.

another important beginners maneuver i/we need to learn is how to QUICKLY run through a doorway and close it behind you. also what u can and can not jump up on to get safe when your in a jam w infecteds. oh and how to light fires. nevermind the fires you just covered
