Guy Pearce is criminally underrated. Dude has had an incredible career.
criminally underrated indeed.
How can he have had an incredible career and be underrated? Do you just use that word like everyone els, because you can`t think of anything more constructive? Everyone says underrated these days.
He has starred in quite a few major movies, some he carried single handed. He has also been a supporting player in many other famous and lesser known but excellent films. His performances are all unique and masterful, almost invisible. Almost nobody knows his name. He has won no major awards besides a Primetime Emmy. He is almost the definition of underrated.
Somebody just give Pearce an Oscar and put the Academy out of its misery for continually snubbing him!
Absolutely! He needs to be celebrated more.
I loved him in L.A. Confidential, and also The Proposition.
He might have a chance with The Brutalist
Totally agree.
Looks to be a good movie. The biggest plus is that they didn't hire the "rock" to play any part in this movie!!👍
Guy is good..like his flicks..
or Kevin Hart
Or John Cena
I don't know what this guys on about, I saw a bunch of rocks in the trailer.
@@DSAK55especially Kevin hart…
This type of trailer that basically showed as entire movie in 3 mins.
I was hoping this was a series not a film. A long, immersive series would have been better. But it’s got Guy Pierce so I’m still excited to see it.
Ditto
I remember seeing Guy Pierce in the awful Australian soap, "Neighbours". He acted the rest of the cast right off the screen, and I remember thinking then that this young man would go far. He should have had an Oscar by now.
I’m a simple guy. I see Guy Pearce, I click on it.
Simple girl here. Me, too.
Any movie with him is worth watching
I just recently rewatched Ravenous and it`s still a brilliant movie.
Pretty much🤷🏿♂️
@@blakehammerpack4710 I see Guy Pearce, I see greatness, I click on it. Simple; that's my style sir!
If Guy Pearce's extraordinary take in The Proposition is anything to go by, then The Convert will be another tour de force of a performance by the actor
Absolutely! He is the kind of actor who can carry a film on his performance.
I’d forgotten about the Proposition and how good it is Thanks for reminding me
Pearce is a great actor, quite underrated in my estimation
LEE TAMAHORI. GUY PEARCE...enough for me to go see it in the theatre.
Remember seeing the trailer of this a few months back, really miss these sort of genre films, historical epic, are increasingly rare. Especially the sort about Westerners getting involved in the frontiers and fringes of the world they're familiar with, and getting into conflict with cultures unfamiliar to them, hopefully nowadays films like this have a more revisionist perspective than older ones ofc
Guy has been a great actor for decades.
Yes indeed! Not that it matters, but he should have a couple of Oscars by now.
Wow, looks like another masterpiece from Lee Tamahori.
Guy Pearce just keeps getting better and better and better, and he's been pretty damned good from the get go.
One of the most underrated actors of Hollywood must be Mr. Pearce.
Yes. He should have at least two Oscars by now.
Finally some fresh air.
Most Underrated Actors
#1: Guy Pearce
I look forward to this. It will be interesting to see how accurately it portrays things.
I see Guy Pearce, I click
Terrific cinematography!
I second that.
Guy Pearce fait de tres bons choix de movies , dommage qu’il ne soit pas plus reconnu 👏👏👏en France .
Excellent movie , great acting by all.
Guy Pearce is brilliant
"peace cannot be achieved through violence" every great unifier disagrees completely
Amazing idea for a movie .
2:13 the Maori didn't pound on random chunks of broken wood. The drums were carefully made and passed down.
the Movie looks good.and hey Guy Pearce is a good Actor and Lee Tamahori a good Director. So it can only be a good Movie.
Looks good and interesting...
Plus Guy Paerce...
Then this movie is a YES.....
Guy does a good line in playing straitlaced characters suffering physically and morally testing situations.
This looks good.
Guy pierce all over the place these days!
I was worried that the Day of the Locust had come to Hollywood. The sequels of films that should not have sequels had me depressed. This movie will quell my fears that movies are done. Eventually we may see the full synchronization of Movies to Xmas again.
can't wait
An anti-colonial movie, is perfect for today’s world situation. It will be a massive hit! And yes, I understand the hypocrisy coming from an Australian. We’re not all the same.
Looks good
Yes, it does.
Ohhh this looks good!
it sure does!
It's from the director of Once Were Warriors. I already saw this and quite enjoyed it. Definitely not as much of a downer as Once Were Warriors.
To my mind it is clear that Maori people are almost alone worthy of respect. WIthin two generations from contact with the British, they had printing presses, cannon, muskets, steam power. And that's why New Zealand is today the syncretic nation it is. Because the Maori were the smartest people not colonized by others.
Last of the Mohicans vibes here in a big way. That makes me very excited for this.
Yes, even I thought that it reminded of LOTM.
Great movie indeed
This looks amazing and I for one can't wait to see it
Great movie 🍿
Great to see the R Tucker Thompson in another film.
1:58 I beg to differ ,sadly peace can only be achieve with power
Great movie. Brushed over the idea that the slaughter didn't continue, or that the Maori continued to eat all their victims and the slaughter was genocide.
Good movie - but repainted history.
2:30 silly shot right there.... Maui xD
yep i wanna see it
Yes good cast. Last line is articulate “we die as warriors.” Better than living as slaves.
Always rated Guy since "Momentum"
Memento
@Pedro91795 yeah my spelling ain't great. Top film though.
After this preview, count me in. Interesting story, and I do like watching Guy Pearce.
This movie looks most promising.
Yes, it does. Love Guy Pearce in anything, particularly when he is rugged.
Good to see Hollywood still thinks cannon balls explode.
The natives had a heck of a good choreographer.
One of the finest movie.
I wonder if they will leave out the cannibalism part?
Absolutely cannot wait to see this film.
I would have barked so much during the battles
Sooooooo…this is basically New Zealand’s “Dances with Wolves”.
When releasing ?
It released on the Digital on the 14th of October
Guy Pearce is amazing. I saw The Proposition with my friend who is Guy's Doppleganger. I have some Danny Huston stuff a wee bit. We saw it at Landmark's Lumiere on Polk. The whipping scene is to Mr Cave as a body being struck by a car is to Mr Friedkin.
Some of the demographic would have the stomach to watch a few stripes.
This was not the case. There was wincing and gnashing of teeth. Having a well stocked library while executing bushranging, having John Hurt (RIP) expressing Darwinian pronouncement about the Bush Rangers origins, the cruel colonial administrator seeing to it that John Bull's foot stays firmly on the neck of anyone anti British. The aboriginal trackers assessment that Danny Huston is not just feral but completely dog. What is Cave cooking up now?
When a car hits a body as Billy Friedkin did it in Jade there is the possibility that the theatre goes gets up and checks into Urgent Care.
why now a trailer? I saw this movie months ago
Good question. It was on the occasion of its digital release which was on the 14th of October.
@@highonfilms you mean October 2023?
DVD and Blu-ray release date was set for October 8, 2024
it went digital release on july 2024
basically this is Dances with Kiwis
Más peliculas así es lo que ace falta,no tanto wokee ni superheroes .
OK lol. White man convinces a native girl that her father is not as civilized as them and talks her into fighting him. Very original.
Wow - Moana 2 looks much better than the first one.
all those sentimental films about warriors......gosh - we should be just glad that those most gruesome times are done and over with, mostly.
Moana 3 : Dark Side?
Fuzzy wuzzies with sharp sticks.
Lol ! The presence of a single company of the 73rd Rgt. of Foot would have vastly diminished the duration of the film to about a minute, a minute and a half ...
Neighbours gone Kiwi...
Well this looks like total bollocks.
The narrator uses the word “enormity” as a synonym for magnitude. The film is set in 1830 when “enormity” meant “extreme wickedness”; the. Idea that it means magnitude is a recent meaning because of its similarity to enormous. If they cannot get the vocabulary of the period right, what is the rest of the film like?
Unless “extreme wickedness” is what was being conveyed in the line.
@CordsZ A reasonable suggestion, especially in view of the fact that Guy Pierce’s character is a lay preacher, but the rest of what he says makes me think the context is the expanse of the sea and the size of the earth.
Interesting observation. These are details that makes a good film great and vice versa.
You have a bunch of women fighting alongside men and being part of war dances. Maybe at this moment of eminent defeat and scarcity we had this things happening, but we are not sure. So you cannot ask for historical accuracy when they want to "modernize" the tale.
I wonder how revisionist this film will be?
It’s directed by Lee Tamahori, so…
This is what happens when your culture is permanently destroyed. This is what they make to show for their culture.
Where's Kevin Hart ....
Guy is a guys guy.
At least he’s not a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.
The Maori bested the British Bayonet. A Shark tooth club must be something else.
Naah. Looks like an excuse to do a movie around the Haka.
reminds me of last of the mohicans
Another imperialist movie where they act like they were civilized and the natives were mad. SMH alabaster lies
Lame
boring
Clearly that white horse is not going to make it, thus I will not be able to watch this film.
from the director of: One of the Worst Bond movies from the last 40 years, XXX2 State of the Union (IMDB Rating 4.5...) and a 30 year old okay movie....
This movie 👎👎👎
The Horror, the horror
Great actor. Horrible script
Looks kinda corny.
Imagine telling these stories, without the need to put an unnecessary white character in them....damn... it's 2024
🤢
So this is how the Israel vs. Palestine conflict started!
Moana 3
Seems like a good movie. I stopped watching as soon as the spoilers started.
