Imagine writing and performing a song and lyrics where about 20,000 people are singing the lyrics back at you. And the call and response from 20 thousand fans is awesome.
I hope you do go hear the original 90's version of Betterman, Its almost my favorite song by PJ. It's beautifully melancholy and the album version is slightly slower. Its one of the few songs Vedder sings where you can understand every word. The song was written about his mothers relationship with his stepdad. Heres a link to the best live version, that stays loyal to the album arrangement - ruclips.net/video/kPBhbCbWrY4/видео.html
The ‘don’t run away’ section in the first version is a portion of a song called Save it for Later by the (English) Beat that PJ tags into during Betterman pretty frequently. If you’ve seen the Adam Sandler film Big Daddy it’s in the soundtrack at some point. They did a Sleater Kinney song in 2003 for shows that SK opened for them on, and Picture in a Frame in their 06 European leg. But that’s why he went into ‘Better now’ in the one with Post Malone, it’s an open portion of the song to insert whatever is fun into at the moment.
Missed this one when it was posted. Must be such a great feeling standing there listening to the fans sing your songs. Even in countries where they don't speak English.
The Post Malone one was from a charity show for EB Research, it was also a tribute concert to Leslie Jordan, who was also heavily involved in the EB Research charity.
EDDIE VEDDER WROTE THIS AWESOME SONG WHEN HE WAS 15 YEARS OLD IN HIGHSCHOOL. IT'S ABOUT HIS MOTHER, HIS STEP FATHER ABUSED HIS MOTHER. THIS HAPPENS EVERY PEARL JAM CONCERT FANS ALWAYS SINGS BACK TO THEM. AMAZING!! I LOVE THAT POST MALONE AND EDDIE VEDDER DID THIS TOGETHER. I THINK IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT. POST WAS SO HAPPY ESPECIALLY WHEN EDDIE STARTED SINGING HIS SONG "BETTER NOW" THIS IS FOR CHARITY. EB RESEARCH 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 🦋 A TERRIBLE SKIN DIEASE THAT YOUNG PEOPLE, CHILDREN. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MOMENT!! I DEFINITELY LOVE YOUR REACTION NIKKI!! THE EVOLUTION OF EDDIE VEDDER IS AMAZING!! 😊🩷🤘✌️
I really admire Eddie's contributions over time especially to different causes including the Kelly Slater Foundation for raising awareness of environmental causes. Aside from that, I just love Pearl Jam in general.
Live performances are great, no doubt. I would be going to 90s performances for the goods on these older songs. Personal shoutout to 9/11/1998! Otherwise, I would definitely do the studio versions.
The one with post Malone is very close to how it is on the original record then when he does it live with his main band it rocks. You should listen to the original album version if you want one like the post Malone version
@@benl7599 Relase live Holland 1992 is great but the album version is the way to go for the first time hearing it. Album version has a much more full sound and the “hidden track” at the end as a bonus.
@@benl7599 Holland version blows and done too much. Even a more recent version from Fenway (ruclips.net/video/YroT-8tb1Q8/видео.html) is better than the crappy audio and video version from Holland.
Please keep the Pearl Jam reactions coming!!
More to come soon!
One of my all time favorites from Pearl Jam!Gotta love the crowds energy like that!
That was the best one to pick its amazing..its the crowd that makes it so special...all those fans singing like that . 😍 shows the pj fandom

So good 💛
Absolutely love your Pearl Jam reviews. Greatly appreciate the way you dig into the actual meaning of his wonderful story telling.
Thank you, I really enjoy it! Gotta bring Peal Jam back in November!
The last one was for a charity Eddie and his wife are involved in EBRP research. They raised $1 million that day
I wish I could have been part of that crowd.
Me too! 😂
I was at that Madison Square Garden show
😮
My fav band of all time. Fuckin emotional rollercoaster.

FIRE!!!!
Listen to the studio version when you get a chance

Album version starts slow and picks up as well. This version is actually even more up tempo than the usual versions of it.
Ohh okay 👌🏻
They edited in another video from a different show. Not sure why? The beginning is from MSG with the fans singing.
Post Malone did a soulful rendition with Howard Stern interview.
Its not Pearl Jams version of Betterman its Pearl Jams Betterman!
You are right. 🤔🫡

you're so pretty
Consider reacting to “Release” by Pearl Jam. It is a song Ed wrote about / for his biological father whom he never really knew.
I would say Release live from Holland. The best version that I’ve seen.

You picked good. First you hate the gf on black. Than the bullies on Jeremy and love the fans on this one
Ok so Post was underwhelming on this for sure but check out his Nirvana tribute
Post wrecked this song. Eddie wrote it.. learn before you talk
