As a Sunni, I must say that the actions of Muawiya are indefensible. It is pretty weak the defenses we give of him. While we can't certainly determine anyone's inner intentions, it is pretty obvious what he was trying to do.

If sahāba like Ammar bin yasir (RA) and Awais al Qarani (RA) were with Ali (as), it must mean that as they fought against Muawiya, the path of truth has been revealed and the path of hypocrites is clear. So evidently, anyone who glorifies Muawiya is in error.
The Messenger of Allah said: "Loving ‘Ali is the sign of belief, and hating ‘Ali is the sign of hypocrisy."

“According to Madaini the writer of the revelation was Zaid bin Thabit and Muawiyah used to write for Prophet (s) the letters between Him (s) and the Arabs”.
Similarly Imam Dhahabi records in ‘Tarikh al-Islam’ Volume 4 page 309:
وذكر المفضل الغلابي : أن زيد بن ثابت كان كاتب وحي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، وكان معاوية كاتبه فيما بينه وبين العرب
Al-Mufadhal Al-Ghulabi stated: “Zaid bin thabit was the writer of the revelation for Holy Prophet (s), Mu’awiya was His (s) writer of correspondece between Him (s) and the Arabs.”

There are 2 types of believers in the world:
1) Those who seek the truth, whatever the truth is, and a good example of this is the companion, Salman Farsi , who was a Christian until he traveled to Mecca and became a Muslim. When the Jews made fun of his teachers, saying they were destined for hell, as they had not died as Muslims, the Quran defended them by stating that they were on the path of Truth.
2) Those who have personal views and only seek evidence to back up their view, no matter how weak it is and no matter how illogical their views are. The Quran states that had the Quran been from other than Allah, it would be full of inconsistencies. The views of these people are full of inconsistencies, too numerous to mention here.
I am a Sunni and my entire family are Sunni and we have traditional Sunni views, which are very similar to Shia views, with the exception that there is a root difference of opinion on who should have been Caliph after the Holy Prophet (saw) was martyred.
The shia brothers fall into the first category of seekers of truth and Abdul Hamid falls into the 2nd category.
The Shia brothers in this video are absolutely right in what they say and what they say is in fact in line with original Sunni thinking. Why do you think that Muawiya is not considered to be a Rightly Guided Caliph?
Who in their right mind would side with Muawiya against Imam Ali, who was a Rightly Guided Caliph and if Muawiya was a Mujtahid, how could he come to the conclusion that it is right to wage a war against a Rightly Guided Caliph and in particular against Imam Ali, about who the Holy Prophet said that "an enemy of Ali is an enemy of God" (Sahih Bukhari)?
Well I suppose only a Salafi like Abdul Hamid could, but then he states that you can do ijtihad on the n umber of times you have to pray Salat.
Sunnis follow Sahabis and Shias follow Imams, but in both cases we accept Imam Ali (as) as a Sahabi and as an Imam. So following Imam Ali iis a force for unity.
Muwayia, on the other hand, waged a war against Imam Ali, a Rightly Guided Caliph; his mother, Hind, ate Hamza's liver; his father, Abu Sufyan, opposed the Holy Prophet (saw) and persecuted him (saw) and his followers for 23 years; and his son, Yazid, sent an army of 30,000 criminals to slaughter the Holy Prophet (saw)'s grandson, Hussain and around 70 other members of the Holy Prophet (saw)'s family.
Yet Abdul Hamid is faithful to the Holy Prophet (saw).
Further analysis of the beliefs of salafis will show that they go as far as defending Yazid and Marwan and they oppose the Ahl ul Bayt, following the sunnah of Satan himself, who refused to do sajdah to Adam, because of the belief that he should only do sajdah to Allah.
No doubt, if questioned further, Abdul Hamid will reveal that he considers the Holy Prophet's parents to be kaffir and he considers the Holy Prophet (saw) to have made mistakes, which is what salafis believe., even though he refuses to acknowledge that sahabis make mistakes, even when they wage a war against a Rightly Guided Caliph and kill innocent and God fearing sahabas.
Unfortunately, many sunnis have been brainwashed by Islamic Societies and wahabi books, and have abandoned their core beliefs and they look down on the traditional sunni beliefs held by their parents. My advice to them is the advice of the Quran, "knowledgeable people learn from history".
Read history and anyone with an open heart will see what the clear truth is. do not be tribalistic in your approach, otherwise you will let liars like the disgraceful salafi scholars do the thinking for you.
Salafism, is a religion created by the West to hijack Islam and this is more apparent now, as the Saudis have come out as supporters of Israel and USA. Of course, Abdul Hamid won't have a problem with that, as he states in this video that it is haram to oppose your leaders even if they are corrupt.

We sunnis do beleive Ali was on Haq, yet it was Muawiyas ijtihad that it was his right to take vengeance upon the killers of Othman due to Muawiyas kinship to Othman. His Ijtihad was incorrect, but we Sunnis still love him bcz he is a Sahabi.Even though they both fought each other, Ali still respected Muawiya and Muawiya still respected Ali.
And the Prophet said that the prophetic khilafa would last only for 30 years, Muawiya became Caliph 30 years after the prophets death, so of course he isnt from the Khulafa Rashida.
Why do u berate the parents of Muawiya? Of course they committed sins before they accepted Islam, but their sins were wiped away when they accepted Islam. And Yazid definitely committed many evil acts, but he is still a muslim. We dont love or respect him and we don't curse him either.

The Messenger said, “My nation does not gather on shadows, and the nation has gathered to follow his Sunnah or sects, for they have remained in the path.” God guides them. They accuse the Messenger of being malicious, because God said the good people are to good women and the bad ones are to bad women, and they say Aisha is an evil one, meaning a bad prophet too. May God bring down your luck, and God suffices us and He is the best agent.

Theres a difference between "not being perfect" and going out of your way to curse somebody. You cant just sweep what muawiya did under the carpet as a mistake. It was beyond a mistake, it was exposure of his true character. He hated Imam Ali(as) and the sons of Imam Ali(as). He agreed to a peace treaty with Imam Al Hassan(as) and broke literally EVERY single point of agreement in that treaty until his last breath. Making a treaty has been ordered by Quran , Imam Hassan was following that.

The condition Imam Hussan gave was that after Muawiyah death the khilafah will go to Imam Hussain. That is very well documented on both sunni and shia sources. The conflict is in Yazid, ofc no one in sunni Islam consider him a Muslim or worthy of anything as he is the worst of creation. He was trying to take khilafah by force. But we don't condemn Muawiyah r.a because he would never allow it, it was done after he had fallen ill and passed away.

Therefore, we must respect Sahabas based on the criterion provided by Quran.

Him in this attribute and whoever believes that anyone other than Allah knows ghaib then he is outsidethe fold of Islam. Now as for what has been narrated by the Shias and non Shias among the ahadith of
Imam Ali where he mentions some events which would take place in the future, so all that knowledge is
what he inherited from the Prophet who in turn was informed by Allah (about some limited future
events). So those ahadith do not at all mean that the Imams have knowledge of ghaib.

There are many other Caliphs who are good candidates to be part of the 12 Imaams. Examples include some of the Abbaasid and Ottoman Caliphs and other Caliphs like Sultaan Salaahudeen Ayoobee.

We as Ahlus Sunnah believe the twelfth and last of the 12 Imaams will be Imaam Mahdi.

Having said this, anyone today who slanders Muawiya (RA) is a deviant and anyone today who slanders Imam Ali (AS) is a Kafir. Last point, over praise of Muawiya (RA) is disliked within Ahlus Sunnah.
