Love the old skeeball and yea I remember the dime era really well I didn't however know the trick about getting your dime back 😂 which is probably good for me and the owner of the machine! I hate the newer ones they have today they are really short and one near me you have to buy what looks like a gift card and everything in the place is one credit each which comes out to one Dollar. Big joke for 6 balls that look plastic no less. Great video Randy keep up the classic nostalgia as long as you can!!!

That was wonderful. Thank you. I never made the transition to electronic Skee-Ball. When they took out the old wooden machines, i just quit playing 'cause the shorter lanes looked fake, and they just didn't have the magic of the beautiful wooden machines, polished smooth by years of people playing them. You are so kind to show us how they work but i still miss the old Skee-Balls of my youth, with the pull-back handles.

I was the guy who hacked skee ball at my local arcades. Only took 4 tries. But you gotta hack different for every machine. To do this complicated task, you need... a doorstop. Just... a wedge of wood.
Put it flat against the side rail, then roll the ball down the rail. Dial in the trajectory. Once it curves to that bullseye one, you're golden. You removed all aiming. Now its just rolling it at the correct strength.

I was wondering why the wooden balls are now rare, now I know. Thanks, great video.

That was us at 2pm. Thanks for opening early for us. Kids had a blast at your arcade as always. Leon 3 years old "sabotaged" your skeeball unintentionally. I mentioned to you that he got a few balls in the machine to the left. Glad you found them. Sorry about that. He did score a 50 right before we left. We will be back to play more if you will have us. Thanks for being a good sport. The kids really love your arcade and it is interesting to learn about all of your arcade machines and your history. I didnt even realize you have Randyland until i checked out your channel. Hopefully we can check out Randyland someday...looks like a ton of neat things inside Randyland in addition to Retro Arcade.

Hi Randy. Good episode. I love skeeball. I enjoyed learning of the history of this game. It was nice to see your friend. I know him from his comments. I didnt know he worked a water race game. My dad probably played it. As i mentioned before he was a pro atvthat game. I remember the stuffed dogs in plastic bags. Sometimes they were plaid and sonetimes plain. They all had soft plastic ears. We had many of them on our beds.

I used to play a lot at Joe's Playland at Salisbury beach. I figured out that if I rolled the ball along the right side, almost touching the wall, it would hop to the middle.

One feature I always liked about ice ball is that it counts how many balls it despenses at the start of a game, and counts each ball that comes back after it's been scored. If the game knows it's short on balls, it will re- dispense balls that have already been played to make up the difference. For example, if the game only has 8 balls, it will spit the first ball thrown back out. This way you have 8 balls again so at the end you will have played 9 balls.

@@MattsCorner-kc6pt some Skee Ball models did count the released balls and allow the same ball to return counting until the total, however, it should not be necessary.

I started playing Skeeball at Franks arcade in pt pleasant I remember it being 5 cents late 60s early 70s I remember the operator having a nickel with wire attached to it to reset the game if it malfunctioned

@@karlschmitt6231 I remember nickel skeeball too, but it was a dime in seaside later 60s.
The nickel in a wire was specially made to insert and be at the correct spot to activate the release.
Came in a dime size later when dune pricing was made.

I and my sons have always rolled the balls as intended... but my very young boys have unintentionally had a ball hop lanes or fall off due to an oops. Having all those balls lost sounds more like screwing around than a rookie error.
