When it comes to 7.3s and slow starting the 3 most common issues are bad glow plugs, bad glow plug relay, or worn out injectors. I don't remember if you've done the GPs or not but if not I would put money on that being your issue. At that mileage, if they are the original sticks, they are definitely in the last bits of their life. Its super easy to test the relay so I'd say that's the best starting point.
All that being said, I don't think the lift pump is a bad idea. The screens in the tank or most likely clogged too. Hutch Harpoon Mod while the tank is open. Keep up the killer work!

Mine did this same thing was the lift pump on the frame rail
I changed the starter on my 7.3 and it helped tremendously.
Little truck I learned from my dad. When your ordering gallon of paint or more ask them for it in quart cans. Easy to pour less mess

Hey Ryan if u do a jl shallow 10 in a box with ab .7 to 1 cube of air with a slot port out the side tune it to around 30 hz u will definitely have more low end rumble in the cab bc it is a bit of a confined space. A lower tuning frequency with a box that has a bit less air space will help keep the sub compliant and you won’t get to much heat. I would definitely suggest that stay under 500 watts with a prefab only because the sub may not stay compliant with a certain kind of music or tone.

after owning a 7.3 for years and throughout very cold winters, i have to say i think it’s something else besides the batteries. it seems to have plenty of cranking amps, the starter sounds plenty strong, making it seem like it’s a fuel issue that has to do with the screens or the pump in the tank or the injectors. just my take on it, but i love the videos and what you’ve done with the truck!
I got a 2001 7.3 f350 dually, and I had the same issue and it would run rough after 2400rpm. After replacing the cps, icp, ipr and the screens in the tank and rebuilt the sending unit aka the tank pump. It was the damn frame fuel pump. $500 dollars later it was a 70 dollar fix. Atleast I got all new sensors I guess

Has nothing to with the battery voltage. On A73 diesel you have to wait wait to start it even though the glow plug light goes out the glow plug relay is still engaged. You could tell by looking at the voltage gauge. You will notice that the gauge goes up after about 20 seconds then try cranking it. Your Gauge is low because the globe plugs are still cycling . The reason why it cranks so long it's because you're losing your high pressure oil pump Prime. That's that's why it's Cranking So long. If you put it on a scanner check the high pressure oil pump pressure pressure you will see it takes a long time for it to build-up oil pressure which is what fires fires the injectors

Btw…testing the glow plugs is really simple…checked mine and I have 2 faulty ones…takes longer to faster the volt meter and climb in the truck than actually testing them…good luck boss…great content…love the Powerstroke!

I love the pink truck so much, but I definitely think color matched mirrors will look amazing, looks good either way but think it would look so good!
That paint is right around 450 a gallon, but is the best paint to use. And I am super excited about the cobra project.
You'd could be surprised with the filters in the tank. My truck had 375xxx on it and it's filters were completely fine. Swapped them anyway along with the pickup foot (known for breaking off) which should do as well and put a hose clamp on it

Ryan , that is a big difference in paint. You should do a deltron to Sikkens! Hands down sikkens goes on much smoother! Run you a drop coat on the last coat of base. That was 20 years ago so sounds like deltron stepped up their game. Either way, nice work!
Have you tried glow plugs and or the relay for it?
Ryan, Mario g and Brandon at night shift diesel can really help you out with this 7.3. Those guys know there 7.3 inside and out. Worth making a call to them. Also putting a scan tool on it will help you further diagnosis they long start issue if the battery’s don’t take care of it. I wouldn’t do a fass. Put a irate return style fuel system on it with a sump

Ryan…have you checked the glow plugs? You might have a bad one…or more that need replaced. Just a thought…David.
Have you checked or changed the oil cooler? May not be getting correct oil pressure to the high pressure pump. There are a lot of variables on the huey systems. I'd almost bet it's oil pressure causing your hard start.
I’m going to say the problem is not in the tank. The sending unit on 7.3 doesn’t have a filter sock like a gas fuel pump does. It’s a “pickup foot” with a metal screen almost like a strainer you’d use in the kitchen. It would take some serious trash to stop it up. A sump and fass wouldn’t hurt though because the plastic foot is bad about breaking apart and causing you to run out of fuel at a 1/4 tank
There’s a fuel kit that adds 2 more fuel lines to increase fuel. 7.3 has 2 extra ports on cylinder heads so you can add new lines. I’m finishing up the truck upgrades I’ll get company name

i own a e99 extended cab. 7.3l im in middle of restoring a cab that should be replaced lol. but dont feel like spending the money for one. hopefully itll be done by 2023

Yes change those things you said for the starting issue and use hotshot secret products stiction eliminator and diesel extreme and that truck should feel brand new!
Get a hydra with custom tunes! Will wake the truck up so much more!
The fact the truck started right up on the 2nd attempt at a cold start indicates the fuel system is losing prime. Idk anything about those 7.3s..im an industrial diesel mechanic. My guess would be leaking injectors that leak fuel into the cylinder when sitting or some sort of check valve that keeps diesel from leaking back to the tank

So there is no filters in the tank. There’s only the filter under the hood. Fast is working on getting a efuel made for those trucks. Idk if there out yet

Fuel system I eliminated the pick up tube and put in a sump with airdogs pump filter warter separater run flawlessly
On A 73 power stroke, when you start it it will show a low voltage because that's like a low plug's coming on.. If you watch it after about 5 minutes it should be in the middle.
I would rebuild the alternator as well
I grew up watching my uncle paint cars, he was originally the the head paint guy at a Ford dealership and he did all the body work and paint, I used to always see him use this shaker thing, it would put 2 cans of paint and shake them super fast, I was just a little kid so I don’t really remember what it was for. Is that something you’d use to mix paints or what is that for? Do you know?

In those year 7.3s the filter on the fuel pump falls apart and plugs it.
You should test your glow plugs. Could cause a delayed start.
