Great videos! I'm a math teacher myself and will email them to my students for an extra explanation. Just a small error at 1:22 that it has shifted 1 unit to the left.
Wow. I am extremely impressed by your teaching. Truly are. I haven't come across another RUclipsr like this that can teach naturally and where each video is a decent length. I really appreciate it, this is one of the few times where I am considering a patreon donation!

No. Go to 0:29. "h" is always negative in the vertex form. The value of "h" can be positive or negative. So, when you see an addition sign inside the parentheses, that means that there was a sign change. In order for that to occur, the "h" value must have been negative, which means that the graph shifts to the left.
@@shamirziai3061 no he didn't lol, if your h value is a negative your graph will always shift to the right. if it is positive it will shift to the left.
@@harlanpm No, he just made a mistake. Think about it! He said "shifted to the right and DOWN." You can't have it both ways, Harlan. Either the graph shifts right and up or the parabola shifts left and down. He says "right" and "down." One of these is a mistake and given that he later corrects himself and says "left," we know that he misspoke the first time.
I have done this for about 2 years but my teachers never told me that if the value of a = 1 no matter what the first 5 points will always be consistent. Seriously thankyou so much Brian!
How did you know that you had to go left one and up one, does the table of values change with each equation or does every graph look the same but the vertex decides where the actual parabola is on the graph
My math teacher always gives us Khan Academy to work from and that thing NEVER helps me understand. I always end up looking for your videos instead because they help me way more, and explain why in a way I can understand.
Just want to thank that kid for speaking up about not understanding the table of values because....I needed help.

I learned more than I do in math class in this video
I’m watching this in math class so I can learn what I’m doing
Try paying attention in math class.

i just learned more in 5 minutes than i have in over 45 hours of math class.
Bro you are a life saver 😭 I have a quiz on this tomorrow and I don’t get any of this stuff 😭 (pray for me)
anyone else only surviving their math class cuz of these videos?

i mean... if you know the material that's an easy A but ok
shhhh. No need to yell.
thanks, was having trouble with my math homework and this really cleared things up
Thanks for saving me on my test!!!
if "h" is negative, doesn't the graph shift to the left?

Why just the first 5 why not all of them?
@@ayushisavla2930 we're not going to graph all possible points because a parabola is infinite and we'd never get to the end.

I agree Khan Academy videos aren't the best.
Wait do you mean shift that one unit to the left because it’s negative right?
your the reason in passing math :D
thanks alot for this video danm
God bless this man
So when you were plotting the points where’d you get the “over one up one” from? Is it because a=1?
Nvm I got it!!
@@jadalynanaya568 what's the answer?
Thank you really helped me
you are very welcome!
anyone else cramming at 11:30pm for a test the next day??
one unit to the left
So the vertex form will always make it going up?
Patrico Martino no. If there is a negative sign at the beginning of the equation, for example y = -(x + 2)(x - 5) it would open down
KingCP08 / Chanjoo Park i’ve learned alot in a week thank you
Patrico Martino you’re welcome
Balik niyo na yung face to face na klase, promise makikinig na talaga ako
Isnt it shifted left?

@@ayushisavla2930 how I was thinking he did it wrong too

THAT'S WHY HE'S THE GOAAAATTT
how do you know how narrow a parabola is?
Matsalam Kalbs hehehe
I’m still confused on how to get the “a” someone help me
The a is the number left of the parentheses
The a is 1, it's just that he didn't choose to write it
