Does your large paintings sometimes feel lifeless or dull?
Chances are you need more texture and layering in your work. Take a look over my shoulder as I work on these two paintings. See some of the many options you have available - what household items you can use and what texture effects you can create that will take your artwork to the next level.
The tools and techniques used in this video are:
    MIXED MEDIA MARK MARKING:
Using Ink Tense sticks (by Derwent) and Woody pencils (by Stabilo) to create lines and expressive mark making on the canvas.
SCRAPING & SCRATCING into wet paint using a painting knife and an iron scrubber
SPRAY BOTTLE with water: try it on wet paint and half-dry paint.
This is the second video in the series. See the first video via the link here: • BEST Texture & Layerin...
I invest a lot of time and love in filming and editing the videos so I'm happy for your support. Please consider leaving a comment, a thumbs-up or subscribe to the channel if you would like to see more videos like this one :)

Shared with my friend who has been painting for 50 years. He does large abstract and expressionist seascapes and is 3 galleries in Newport Beach, California. Interested to see what his comments will be. He might already use the techniques you teach, but he might still learn something new. Will have to wait and see. Me, I am a beginner.

I have watched many, many of your tutorials because I love your style. I am curious to know if you work on small paper and larger pieces at the same time, or several small paper works in preparation of a larger work.

Thanking you. They look fantastic. I never know what style to use. It seems with art one needs something that is unique to yourself. And finding this is not easy. My art is on bluethumb in Australia.
