A Lamborghini Huracán with an 80L fuel tank, costs £112 to fill up (£1.40 per litre), and delivers about 330 miles of range, or 33p per mile. The depreciation costs after 3 years for the Huracan is about 15% (£40k), for the E-Tron S the 3 year depreciation cost is about 60% (£60k) Slight road tax reduction for the Audi but insurance costs for the two cars is broadly similar for many. Replace 'E-Tron' with (bank balance) 'Taycan' for a true horror show... losses in excess of £60k in ONE YEAR.

@hectorshouse7348 I've seen vintage voltage they do classic cat EV conversions, the main guy is an expert and said the battery efficiency after 100k is around 90%,so my thinking is if you buy a 3 Yr old EV it's depreciation is massive but you can buy it at around a third of new price, then have s good few years at least left of usable driving battery wise, but tyres are another thing twice as dear and don't last due to special compound, but at a third of new price imo thsts possible bargains at least short term.
Paying just $50k for a car is crazy to me
@@hectorshouse7348 yes bargains - Depreciation is bad when new, but that makes used purchases cheap. I bought a two year old Enyaq for the same price as a same year Merc A class with one of the shit engines and it's far far nicer to drive and has saved me £3.4k in the last two years. I had an independent battery check before buying with no degradation. The problem is people getting their info from the likes of Trevor who's grifting to make a few qiud to keep his Alfa diesel on the road.
OMG, two and a half tons!
Depreciation? With you all the way. My MG 5 estate was £34k eighteen months ago. Carwow will give me ....wait for it ....£14,700. What shit! At least it's lighter than the Audi, and, the sat nav is positioned on the MG so you don't need to look at your croutch. Repairs to date: central control unit failed at 7k miles; passenger door release failed at 1500 miles; drivers door seal dissolving as we speak. So, I plan to run it into the ground/wall. Cheers.
I am sure Peter would nor want you lookin there...............................crotch
Chinese cars are also unpopular secondhand.
Looks like a Cavalier would look in 2024. 🙂
Excellent business opportunity for those willing to steal and burn out these things for insurance purposes.
34 pounds a day
Or about £1.30 per mile.
1100 £ a month 🎉😂
The only thing in our house thats run by a battery keeps the wife happy ,,,,😂😂😂😂😂
Toothbrush?
RUclips need more milk float killers 👍😆
Interesting. Just a few points:
1. You are not forced to buy it, could have bought a different - far cheaper model.
2. Why not just keep the car for 10 years ?
3. I don't think anyone has bought a new car as an investment
4. Fantastic news if you want to buy a used EV.
5. The best car is no car
The Value of an EV is linked to the 8 warrantee of the battery . Essential EV's are a disposable car . The replacement of the Battery costs more than the value of the car .
As disposable as toilet paper it would seem.
About right chap, well said
It’s not worth £25k!
I'd offer 500 quid and strip it for the batteries.
soon as it's 5 years old it'll only be worth it's scrap value. as most dealers wont touch it-
only an utter moron pays this much for any car let alone an ev.
bought a Subaru Forester Premium in 2020, it is still worth over 70% of what we paid for it depreciation of less than 30%
DEC 25th 2025 a wake up call to e.v. owners and potential buyers. Transport for London (TfL) announced that from 25 December 2025, drivers who previously paid £10 for a year's exemption from congestion charges will have to pay the standard £15 daily fee.
That is an increase from £10 per annum to a maximum of £5,475 per annum if you used it everyday in the congestion zone(s). An increase of 547.5%, whoopee.
I have lost all respect for these "famous car brands" that are making these stupidly huge, heavy and expensive trash.
That 2.5 ton milk float crashes into something like a flimsy built fiat 500 it will crush into near nothing and nite nite all inside, stored kinetic energy and all that disco never mentioned by the ev lovers ever imo
What about those 3 ton 4x4s
@@stevewest131 which ones are they ? As most SUVs are around 2.2-2.4 tonnes and the eletric ones are 2.5 tonnes+
@@stevewest131awww, still all butt hurt about the depreciation of your EV, little fella? BAHAHAHAHA!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
@@stevewest131 the average weight of most Landrovers and Rangerovers( new one) is 2.6-2.7tons ealier ones are lighter, most 4x4 pickups are around 2.0 to 2.85 tons. so which ones are you talking about??? Incidentally the weight of ev's is on average between 2 tons and 2.5tons...
@@hudsonbear5038 Weight of a tesla 3 is 1800kg. So Land Rovers are much heavier and really guzzle the gas. There are much heavier vehicles on the road, buses, mini-buses, lorries, tankers, bin lorries. EVs are not the heaviest vehicles on the road.
Wouldn't pay more than £500 for it .....and then I'd have to think about it 🤔 😅
that would be 19 grand trade-in against another EV i would expect
Cakey tea ! you are the real poldark I thought I'd heard that voice before
Good review , here in Sydney (aus) I have been researching secondhand Tesla 3 in the local Carsales . And they are not selling , some cars have been advertised for over six months , and if you go into price insights they are dropping price every month , I reckon if you offered them 5-10k less than advertised price you might get a bargain. Or maybe not , take care Mate
That’s half a ton more than my LWB sprinter !
i have to ask but would leasing be a better option if you want to avoid massive depreciation
Bloody hilarious. Me too got a weight problem mate.😊😅
I renew my car every 3 years. last time 2022, I got the same money trade-in for my BMW as I paid for it in 2019! I was gobsmacked. AND my M8 who works in the Service Dept. at the dealership told me not to touch a BMW EV with a barge pole. I drive X3's and the price margin between a mid-spec ICE X3 and an IX3 is about £20K...................£20K!!!
2.5 ton of depreciation 37000 mile cost 50,000 perhaps 55,000 so with no charging costs - is 1.40 a mile. With charger costs almost 1 litre of petrol a mile !
That's ridiculous lol. I has a 6.5 litre do 16 mpg 😅
@@dn744 We live in a Post Ignorant Society. UK is now just 28th ranked in the world and falling fast. It makes nothing, no iron no steel no plastics no cars no nothing much any longer. All we do is sell each other old bricks using debt crested from thin air and think that is an economy.
If you bought a used model for £25,000 and after a year the batteries started to fail the cost of replacing them would be unaffordable. The cost is therefore £25,000 for a year's motoring then you have to find another, there is not even any scrap value, you would probably even have to pay for recycling. Marvellous.
These EV owners will try to convince you they saved so much money on overnight tariffs that they were smart. 😂😂😂. I think they only say that so they can get to sleep somehow.
Our neighbour has just got a new cherry red Tesla. Has had to install a smart meter to charge it on Economy 7. Mental.
my ev costs me 2p per mile to fuel, octopus inteligent, actually this not quite true because this is a ev tariff so i can also use this 7p per kw tariff to power my home, so fueling my ev costs me less than nothing..

Brilliant news
And the UK electorate have just voted in a Party who will bring back the all EV future by 2030, just six short years away!
Lots of people have found themselves financially upside down thanks to the EV cost saving narrative. Frequently, the total cost of ownership for some EVs can even outweigh that of a bona fide supercar, for example:
The 2022 Audi E-Tron S has an 83KW usable battery, and costs £64 to fill (public UK rapid charger at 80p KW), and delivers about 190 miles of real world range, or 33p per mile.
A Lamborghini Huracán with an 80L fuel tank, costs £112 to fill up (£1.40 per litre), and delivers about 330 miles of range, or 33p per mile.
The depreciation costs after 3 years for the Huracan is about 15% (£40k), for the E-Tron S the 3 year depreciation cost is about 60% (£60k)
Slight road tax reduction for the Audi but insurance costs for the two cars is broadly similar for many.
Replace 'E-Tron' with (bank balance) 'Taycan' for a true horror show... losses in excess of £60k in ONE YEAR.
Tony, IF Geoff and Lee were to invite you to join them on an American road trip - say Route 66 or Alligator Alley, what would be your cheap car of choice? It would be comedy gold imo.
Chevy Blazer. Would spend the entire time pretending to be Jack Bauer
I'd check in boot to see if among the equipment there's a defibrillator maybe?
There's no point. You need power to charge one of them 😂😂😂
@@martinf8508 Good question - do they need plugged into anything to do their job, or is there a powerpack inbuilt? Not something that crossed my mind with the appearance of them on shop walls here and there. There's one on the local butcher's door post - asked him if it was because of his prices.
I drove a 20 year old Honda Civic which still did 500 miles to a tank up until when i scrapped it. Drove it every day.
Advert after was for Anderson ev, home chargers I believe. Lol
I'm wondering if these heavyweights will have to be restricted to 10mph slower than most cars on dual carriageways like commercial vehicles are? My transit is 3.1 tonnes gross and some of these evs are approaching 3 tonnes and can accelerate at crazy speeds. Albert Bridge in London has a 3 ton limit enforced now will they be ticketed if the exceed?
That's an interesting point. I've been stopped in a double cab pick up towing 3.5t braked trailer weight. Fortunately, I wasn't carrying a tonne in the load bed as well. But I did have 4 passengers on board. Police politely and respectfully wanted to see if I was exceeding the stated weight limit on my license. If I did have a 1-tonne load in the back, I would have been exceeding my standard car license.
@@TakeResponsibilty I'm sure it will need to be looked at. Was just checking some new EV weights, the new Roll Royce Spectre is 2,975 kg. Add a passenger or 4 etc and we are well over 3T. Range rover PHEV 2,810kgs. These are unladen weights. My transit is 2.6t or 3.1 gross. Surely they should be restricted from 3t limit bridges etc
great intro
The red cross thing is wild 😂
I have a Mazda BT50 Ute (Rebadged Isuzu) with an agricultural 3 Litre Diesel. It weighs 250kgs less than the Audi, cost less than one-third of the Audi in 2021 and is worth 58% of purchase price with a whopping 79,000 miles on it compared to the Audi. For intercity running it gets 1,100km or 683 miles per tank meaning I can easily go from Brisbane to Sydney.
I am not against EVs or new technology but hell, they have a bloody long way to go to match an older ICE vehicle let alone a modern efficient one.
It's going to be Hobsons Choice for everyone under Labour. Almost certainly they're going to rapidly accelerate the push towards EV's and heavily tax combustion engine vehicles.
EV = No thank you very much. 😊
Well I have a electric kona second hand saving loads getting over 300miles range from it costing £7.00 to fill up on cheap over night tarrif how's that for cheap motoring
I am curious as to why you got that Audi EV considering the rate of depreciation ?????
Folks are throwing away their money on those things. Madness
That's a heap of money to lose 😱
I’m gonna stick with my nifty little C3 as long as it keeps going, thanks all the same.
I would love a link to a cheap ev. Any link at all.
Reminds me of macmasters Porche tincan , £120,000 new , now worth about ,£40,000 ,OUCH!!!
I don’t know at what point the lease companies wake up and start to realise this by way on increasing the money payments on it from new to make up for its respective value at 3,4,5 years etc. it seems atm the payments are quite low for high value EV’s but they are worth nowt after this time. The manufacturers won’t be taking the hit for much longer surely? If the payments go up the leases will dry up, then it’ll really begin to unravel.
I got my dad a brand new Hyundai i10 with 150 miles in 2012 for £6900. It’s done 80.000miles. Only spent £600 on problem. Otherwise just MOT and Service. £20 a year tax.Does 230 miles on £36 of fuel. And just about to part ex for another one for £1500
Bigest thing i have thats battery operated is an ebike and that was a gamble really,
Rc toys are good on ekectric though , i remember nitro engines and the mess and noise, though my first electric went up in smoke on a lake way back in 2004 so i was well warned..😂
My little BMW i3 cost less than £10k, it weighs not a lot, it has a range more than that Audi, cost zero to Tax, is fun to drive and comfortable.
The thing is this.. if you want to spend stupid money on the latest and greatest then you have an issue. Don’t bang on about depreciation, you let someone else take the hit.
Motability apparently have been pushing EVs onto their clients. What's going to happen when they are handed back? Can see the up front payments going up a lot.
Do all EVs have the steering wheel on the wrong side?
That’s heavier than my 80 series LandCruiser… wonder how long tyres last on that Audi, that’s something to take into consideration for running costs
You seen the new BMW M5 it also weighs 2.5 tonnes🤣🤣🤣
After another 4 years it will be hard to find a buyer at all whereas my 20014 diesel Q5 is still running in at 60000 miles.
My 2002 Suburban is 5100 lbs and you could just about park that toy in the cargo area.

Being on a low income i obviously can't get fiance for such cars. I have 09 golf diesel . Hopefully i can keep it till i stop driving in 3 or 4 yrs . Roads busy now too busy
Are we petrol or diesel drivers subsidising the EV’s drivers insurance costs?
What happens if/when uk government enforces fines for car sellers that sell non EV’s?! I’d prefer to walk then be forced to own a crappy ev
Could you tell us what you really think of second hand EVs.
Why does everything have to beep? If you don't realise your door is open without an annoying beep, maybe you shouldn't be driving and get your eyes tested instead.
I took the programming tool for my car and turned it off in my vehicles including the stupid, nagging seat belt warning! All theses beeps and warnings have gotten ridiculous over the years. I think the only warnings most people need is when you leave the headlights on leaving the vehicle or backing up into an obstacle.

EV’s have been a CON of colossal proportions and I actually feel sympathy for the people that have been duped into believing they were the best thing since sliced bread. I’ve now heard that Toyota, Subaru, Mazda and even the Chinese are investing heavily in developing small ICE engines with mild hybrid capabilities, makes you wonder why governments were so keen to push EV’s over recent years!!!……..
My mate won an escort in 87 it was 8K in the showroom, he asked how much they would give him, 5K! I would love to know how much Audi would give you now after driving out and straight back in again, if they would actually have it.
they probably wouldn't want it. they have to sell so many new ev's by law now. why would they want to try and sell on this pos thing?
