I not a fan of EV’s but the only thing you have shown is you don’t understand how the software for calculating range works, it’s just an estimate. It’s the same on my Merc GLC if you go up a hill or accelerate hard the estimated range goes down, then with steady driving it goes back up. Good videos though 🧐👍

I’m a milk float owner not because I’m an eco warrior or believe in all the sh*** we’re told but because I’m a tight fisted b****rd with solar panels and batteries ,so poodlin’ round locally cost me bugger all . For me personally it was a no brainer. But it’s horses for courses at the end of the day. What works for me won’t work for the majority. As you say they are being so heavily discounted it’s unsustainable. I picked up a 2 years old Kia that had lost 17k in 2 years! So the depreciation of these cars is phenomenal . They will probably be worthless in 15 years time IF the battery survives. Just scrap value. But I was under no illusion about that . At the end of the day people should not be forced to buy them as they just don’t want them ,(quite rightly), because they cant do the job as well as an ICE car does….period. It should be a case of let the market decide and sink or swim … probably twist or bust would be more apt…….oh and I must also be far right too !

Just to rub salt into the wounds. The £4b loss will be reclaimed from previous 5yrs Corporation taxes. So the government losses the Corporation tax for this year, they have to pay back the £4bn from previous years. Almost all dealers will report losses as well, all of which will also be reclaimed 😅

In a Hyundai dealer this morning, sales guy pointed out their 650hp (yeah right) Ioniq , he said plenty of test drives, no buyers. When I asked about the effect of gov targets, he just said we can roll them over to the following months. They dont seem to have a clue.

I bought a cheap EV after someone else took the depreciation hit. My motoring is costing me 1.8p a mile on cheap night time elctricity. (That's a cost equivalence of 350mpg.) Carry on hating by all means. :-)

Private buyers can't afford EV's and niether can the government. It's all going to come crashing down very shortly.

Skoda Fabia cost me £9500 new 10yrs ago, now £23000 .Lpg 70p ltr £3.10 gallon, with petrol tank range 800miles, Manchester to Switzerland, what happened to car prices so pricey!

Things are changing. This is not just UK but globally. Petrol and diesel will be forced off the road from taxation. (japan have had strict rules for years) Much can be learnt from the BBC parliament show, just the mps and lords debating. A good five yrs ago i was watching the debate on road charging, abolish road tax for price per mile where one would need to input destination, new cars, allowing car to start, money taken from bank and if arrive before time calculated by sat nav, deemed as speeding and fined. Deviation, more money taken. The software is there, german. Talk too of satelite toll gates, english system, where toll can be placed anywhere within minutes. All that appears to have fallen by as the drive now is to get the human from driving and that is really gathering pace, eliminating crashes, deaths and emissions. The powerful Hollywood film industry, back to the future, 5th element, total recal, Wall E and so on for driverless cars----what did they all know - fiction or the blueprint for our future? How we all laughed at Captain Kirk and Spock back in the 70s talking to a device on their wrist or a hand held flip device. Those devices are here and people cant get enough of the tech. £4.5 billion in discounts! I nearly spat my breakfast out. I would also like to point out that last year fuel tax receipts were around £27 billion. Heaven knows how much they got from Road tax. So manufacturers need to claw back their investment, the Government needs to replace the income stream from ICE cars. There’s only one way this ends. Cars will no longer be for the people. They will only be for the well off. We will have gone back to the 1950s. It’s obvious we need to do something over time to replace our over reliance on oil, but the strategy and pace of change is completely ludicrous
