In a film full of despicable criminals, slimy businessmen and murders, Margie is a gem of honesty and kindness. She's kooky, kindhearted, and very endearing, yet she doesn't suffer fools gladly and is sharp as a tack. Frances McDormand played the part so well.
The Coen brothers… my lord. The talent they share, it’s absolutely unbelievable. These brothers are straight-up a juggernaut of creative genius, oOoOo yAaAaAa
I remember watching that movie on a late night randomly with a friend at something like 16 years old drinking a few beers that I stole to my dad...We didn't know nothing about that movie...We were just laughing all the movie long how much McDormand character was funny has hell and well played...It's maybe just 10 years later that I rewatch the movie, knewing who Cohen Brothers were and released that France McDormand won an oscar for that role...
Having been born and raised in Minnesota, I had people from up in the NoDak/Canada/Mn corner. They absolutely talk like this. Also genuine are the flat, foggy, lonely road scenes.
I love this movie for its dark humor throughout. The female lead is definitely my favorite-there’s something mildly sexy about the way she carries herself and her confident demeanor. 😍
All this & no mention of the genius score. ALMOST outshined by so much talent behind AND in front of the camera. Still, it shines. So beautiful, visceral and oddly dark
Great compilation. It's just a police officer doing her job and investigating a murder. Just another day and by the book. With so many unsolved cases out there it's easy to forget that many do get solved because perpetrators are Sloppy.
This movie just shows you not all are dumb people in the Midwest. Margie is very smart, sets all things in motion from the beginning. Brilliant character
Minnesotan here...and lots of people here couldn't get past the actors' take on our accent. Unfortunate, because this movie is so much more than the MN accent
you're really got to go to Minnesota outside the big cities and visit some small towns, to fully appreciate this movie. The people are like polite on steroids. Optimistic. friendly. always looking on the bright side like Marge. Besides Marge, the two young girl hookers were great examples of midwestern politeness.
Realistic portrayal of mid-western crime story by all characters especially Marge. Coen brothers did a fine job in 1996 and then again in 2007 with No Country For Old Men. Chigurh was terrifying first time I viewed film. And don’t miss Blood Simple (1984)!
Me too! But…do you sleep in the same room you do your oil painting in?? That first scene when Margie gets the phone call, where they scan from the ducks and art supplies to them in the bed cracks me up. The turpentine fumes must be brutal. Of course, he could be using acrylic, as a lot of wildlife painters do…
I love Coen brothers movie. Especially the Fargo series. Especially Frances McDormand characters! Hey Sheila Ryan, do you think they sound like your mom’s dialect? That just tickled the day lites out of me every time I was around her showsI wish things had been different back in ‘71. I would have loved to live close by your family for a few years. Maybe I could have picked up just a little Norwegian lilt to my speech. Make me sound all foreign and sexy.
There seems to be a Scandinavian thing going on with the accent, all the yeahs and so on. That’s just my guess from Ireland, would I be correct in saying that ?
The greatest female acting performance in my lifetime. Only rivaled by Jeff Bridges as The Dude in the Big Lebowski. She's the smartest cinema cop ever, a modern Sherlock Holmes, but she's so unassuming.
When this came out ,I thought this was the dumbest movie I ever saw .but all the critics loved it( which once again proved to me that whatever critics like I should skip and what they hate is going to be a great movie)
once you've seen this movie you can't unsee it, the visual images, depth of characters and the people of this land. one of the greatest movies made.
Your durn tootin
You betcha
Once you see any movie you can't unsee it. the heck you thinking??
It's in your head, forever.
@@Onomatopoeiaderp The Heck, ya mean!
I forgot how great Fargo is. Time for a re-watch!
I rewatch it every 4-5 years or so. Never get tired of it.
Ya.
Movie is boring 😴
You may be talking about yourself.
@@pauld8379 It's sad that you can't appreciate a great movie.

And I found Marge beautiful. Sincerely.
Sharp as a tack!
Huge crush on her after seeing this movie. She was great.
Wrong, the best part of this film is Steve Buscemi, stop trying to force your girl power shtick into everything
Well said, the original comment not the power tsick.
Lost count of how many times I’ve watched this masterpiece…
I love this movie. Such great characters played with a grounded reality.
The Coen brothers… my lord. The talent they share, it’s absolutely unbelievable. These brothers are straight-up a juggernaut of creative genius, oOoOo yAaAaAa
I worked front desk in Deer Valley during Sundance. Had the pleasure of checking Frances and Joan Cusack in. They were so sweet. So easy to help.
What a movie. Even after all these years.
Amen Bro.
Classics don’t age!
Margie was perfect, great cast and movie. One of the bests!

This movie is such a masterpiece that it manages to make people in North Dakota interesting.
A stone cold classic ❤
my favorite, ' hun, the prowler needs a jump' and 'i think i'm gonna barf', I recite that one all the time to my wife in that accent.oh yah.
I watched a portion of this movie when I was young and impatient, I think I’ll watch it again.

An almost perfect movie still love it after all these years 😊
yes, holds up multiple viewings. we still watch it about once a year on DVD or the tv movie channel.
I just love her work.
Mississippi Burning, Three Billboards........
I like all the Oldsmobiles in the movie!
"Was he funny looking apart from that?" Yaah! Go, Bears. 😂😂😅😅😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣

Well, 😅😅😅😅I will pull out my vhs and watch this again
I do believe my favorite movie in the 20th century
P.S. I also loved Clockwork Orange
Add BLOOD SIMPLE….js
One of the best movies I’ve ever seen.
She was so great in this movie.
Norm is such a dashing fellow. The best Minnesota has to offer?
Oh for sure.
You betcha
Oh yeah you betcha
Yer darn tootin' there!
Oh gee
The music is very Nordic sounding. Hardangar Fiddle . Unique sound.
This movie just shows you not all are dumb people in the Midwest. Margie is very smart, sets all things in motion from the beginning. Brilliant character
Great movie. ..." hes fleein' tge interview"..
For a pregnant woman and all that snow .....
Priceless!
✨✨✨✨✨
Little known fact. This movie takes place in September. Hahaha!
I love this movie
I love this movie didn't have the lady cop be the strong, perfect woman with an idiot for a husband. It showed a loving supportive marriage.
Minnesotan here...and lots of people here couldn't get past the actors' take on our accent. Unfortunate, because this movie is so much more than the MN accent
maybe the best actress around
Good movie…great dialogue
I sure do miss the 90's.
A Whole Lot Of "Yeah" Going On. 😅

Love you,francis❤
Always thought Norm was a very sweet guy. Small part, but made a big impression.
Love Norm and Margie as a couple ❤
Which are the best Frances Mcdormand scenes from this movie? All of them.
" All this for just a little bit of money. And was it really worth it?"

I would place is among my top-25 at any time. This is a great movie.
Really is a great movie..
I love how in that breakfast scene, the camera never moves, even though the action goes from the table, out the door to the car and back.
this really is a great movie...
I so love this character! I can't stop laughing!
looked like the marlboro man. maybe cause he smoked a lot of them. like a subconscious thing. 😂😂😂
Hey ya Norm how's the painting going? Ya real good now, say Norm I thought Yas going ice fishing up by Menard Lake, y a h after lunch....
Great Movie
I gotta fix ya some breakfast, boy, that’s never happened to me! What a gentleman.
I named my dog after Margie…I love this film as it really illustrates the true America….
Ein großartiger Film....
There’s so much eating in this movie.😂
FARGO eh? You betcha!
See if I watch again with my smart TV ..📺..yea
Yea? Yea! You betcha!😁
What a great movie
She totally deserved that Oscar
Agreed!
I’m a wildlife painter like Norm. They got his efforts right. And his supportive love for her.

@ many wildlife artists use acrylics. When was quite young the studio was near the bed but that aspect of the movie might convey their modest living
So you went and married Norm son- of -a- gundersen😅
Margie. The sharpest cop on the block.
Watching this makes me hungry, lol
O yea
Norm real name is “Arthur Leigh Allen” he’s from lake barryessa California. Margie might wanna look into that.
Lol
A little too bloody for my taste, but still a brilliant movie. McDormand is a favorite.
I agree.
The Coen brothers are so talented, but the violence?!?
Oy!!!!!
The contrast is the point.
what happened to Jerry lundergaard's wife at the cottage?
Unless they do it different in Brainard, people dont put worms in bags and usually people dont ice fish with nightcrawlers. Waxworm or grubs, yes.
Frances performance is the only reason to watch Fargo🤧… well, maybe not the only reason, but still.
I loved her in almost famous too.
Yah 👍
GOO BEARS
She should have said ‘He’s funny lookin, in that he looks just like me’

Francis made margie such a likeable character
The most Scandinavian movie made in The US of A. Even the music

Yes. It absolutely is.

That’s just my guess from Ireland, would I be correct in saying that ?
Yaaa😂
You didn't show the best scene of the movie, when she goes to the villian 'You put your friend in the chipper, didn't ya."
Total silence….
The greatest female acting performance in my lifetime. Only rivaled by Jeff Bridges as The Dude in the Big Lebowski. She's the smartest cinema cop ever, a modern Sherlock Holmes, but she's so unassuming.
Watch Possession.
Ahhh geez.... yah.
Reminds me to rent a wood chipper, got to get rid of somethingone.
Geez, Margee.
how are you gonna keep em down on the farm once they've seen carl hungus?
When this came out ,I thought this was the dumbest movie I ever saw .but all the critics loved it( which once again proved to me that whatever critics like I should skip and what they hate is going to be a great movie)
