It's wholesome to me to see that changing more and more, esp in the black community. Good signs we're going in a good direction and able to just enjoy content again. //

@@ErosNocturne there isn't an official pro-shot though :( RUclipsrs can get copyright strikes and issues if they react to a bootleg i think. thats why i tried to suggest pro shots but he could definitely listen to BMC. I would love him to react to hadestown (no pro shot but there is the soundtrack and maybe graphics?) and next to normal! they just announced they will be filming the west end revival so thats amazing. He could react to certain songs/performances that musicals do on tv shows or the tony awards though, that would be awesome to watch!
This may not be the “original” but this is the only version allowed to be on stage anywhere globally. The old version is not legally allowed to be performed.

@@liz_merr1003 because regardless of some people’s connection to Blue they acknowledge the danger that comes with how successful the song is and admit it was cheap writing for a quick laugh without much thought behind it. You can find their interview online about it where they go through each song and discuss the rights will not go back.
You can find an in depth interview online from the creators. THEY say Blue was cheap writing and the fact it does so well can be dangerous due to this rhetoric still being a very real issue today.

It's one of the more memorable lines from the original 1989 movie, along with "fuck me gently with a chainsaw" and "I love my dead gay son!" So of course it had to make it into the show!
@@elkins4406 Oooooh I see. Admittedly I have not seen the movie either so I did not know this. I just knew it as a line I'd seen on Incorrect Quotes sorts of things but had no idea where it came from.
@@SpiderRiderKya Yeah, I'm not surprised you'd heard it before. It's been around as a Known Quote longer than the musical's been in existence. I think it's one of those quotes that lots of people vaguely know, but have no idea where it's from. It's always fun to get one of those "THAT'S where that's from?" moments.

I know a lot of people don't like "you're welcome" instead of "blue" but I like both. I know they're both songs with very uncomfortable meanings but with a funny and upbeat spin (like the whole musical) however I might like the west end version more, blue is VERY catchy but I LOVE Veronica's lines from you're welcome.
I see the opposite (people hating blue for "making light" of SA but adoring "you're welcome"). I think it's just personal taste and that there's many reasons to put one instead of the other in the musical. Sadly, a lot of people mistake personal taste for moral high ground and shame others for different opinions xwx

People like YW because they agree with the message and it makes them clap....not because it's good :/ Blue was a catchy song that fit the tone way better. YW is just beating you over the head with the message it wants to convey and it doesn't even have the decency to be catchy or funny.
@@ErosNocturne I prefer Blue for almost the opposite reason: YW presents the situation so seriously at first that it then seems weird for Veronica to get out of it so easily, and for the tone to switch immediately back to glib the instant the boys fall down. I dunno. It just doesn't work for me tonally (and I also prefer Blue musically).
But I absolutely agree with you that the way people assign high moral stakes to their preference between the two is unnecessary and irksome. I think that we all understand that (a) date rape is very serious, and (b) this is a dark comedy that often treats very serious subjects glibly. I don't really see a moral dimension in how people prefer to see those constantly-duelling tones juggled in the scene.

Fun fact, it became a tradition to throw scrunchies (often in the heathers colours) on stage at the end. I know at least one of the performers, from a prior cast, made a wreath from ones she collected!
One of the Veronica actresses vlogged during the beautiful quick change, how it works is there’s an old lady backstage that helps her get out of the old one, she has most of the new outfit on underneath it except for the jacket and I believe the skirt (I could be wrong about the skirt tho)

I hate the cast in this one tbh AND the production feels way too.. polished? The annunciation on the words, the music, the acting.. and Veronica is supposed to be awkward.. not so confident, plus Heather c's death is way to dramatic
Is this a West End performance? Every once in a while I found myself distracted by trying to figure out if some of the enunciation weirdnesses were due to non-American performers trying to assume US accents.

this might be a rlly niche request but u should react to alien stage by vivinos - its like an animated music project and it has rlly cool lore and characters, also its not very long and u can easily watch it in order in like 2-3 videos or even just one big one cuz its just a few music videos 🙏🙏 also the next part is coming out soon!

This is the only production allowed to be performed. The rights are changed and the creators will not allow people to put on the “original” production. So if he or anyone goes and see it live this is the show they will see.

0:56 yeah I have this same issue after listening to the studio versions so much that it makes it hard to fully enjoy live performances.
Also to just throw up a suggestion to add to the pile, I need to recommend the Count of Monte Cristo musical. Sadly for whatever reason finding a full show in English seems to be impossible, however there are animatics by Ink Potts and the full list of songs are available to listen to right here on RUclips as well. Not even saying this needs to be a reaction or anything just something I'd fully recommend listening to in your own time.

The original cast and soundtrack is SO much better (though I do like the addition of some of the new songs) so I'd say finish listening to those songs especially since so many lyrics (like the ones in Big Fun) were changed. I'm glad there is a version (rip all the slime lol) thats able to be reacted to though because this musical is amazing!!!

I love this musical era. I recommend Hadestown, Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, Phantom of the Opera and Wicked might be good too because the movie is coming out soon!
Hiii doing my humble duty and suggesting newsies (the live recording from 2012 on disney plus). it’s really fun and stars jeremy jordan who you might know as lucifer from hazbin hotel or varian from tangled the series
i second any recommendations to watch STARKID musicals!!! after the first one the recordings get much more professional. i highly recommend starting with Twisted. i think its the best example of starkid's all-around talent: story, characters, music, lyrics, stage presence, choreo, everything. there's not a single flop in that soundtrack, in my opinion! another good one to put up front is Trail To Oregon. it's based on the old video game, and extremely funny. The guy who didnt like musicals is also phenomenal, but i kind of consider it the "end" of classic starkid era- the sequels/trilogy from the hatchetfield universe are not as good as TGWDLM for me, they just have different vibes and arent as good at hooking me. and of course, starkid is most known for their parody of harry potter- a very potter musical! that one is still iconic, though a bit dated in content and recording lol they were seniors in college just making a video for friends and fam, no one expected it to go viral! the good news is they always have GREAT captions, so even if the sound is a little bad in that first one, you still know what they say/sing at any point!
