I dyed several times with a relaxer and my hair broke off every time. After 5 years of being loose natural I dyed the top half honey blonde. It actually did well. I never experienced breakage , just a slight texture change on the dyed parts. To this day I still have the honey blonde and my hair is micro locked now and still doing well. I'm 6 months in. I wanted to re dye but I still have color, so I can wait. In the meantime I use hair paint wax to change up my color. It's great, it just transfers more than I'd like.
Still Nia Bia I’ve used Gemini Naturals hair color gel (I’m allergic to bees wax so I like gel more than wax) and I absolutely love it. No build up, minimal color transfer, lasts a long while, colors are awesome, Black-owned company.
I dyed my hair 3 months into my loc journey and it’s been a year and I am contemplating dying them again but have been Lovin my gray ❤. So we will see..
Hey Nia! When I was relaxed I used to rinse my hair jet black all the time. I really did like doing that. This time around I colored my hair right before my sisterlock establishment because I knew I wouldn't be able to color for a while and I wanted my locks to have color. So far it seems to be doing well. Thanks for all the great tips as usual. BTW I like your hair with all the different colors you experimented with.
Thank you Marcia=) Coloring your hair before getting locs is definitely a better move than coloring them after only being loc'd for 9 months like what I did lol. What color did you dye your hair before your establishment?
Hi Nia 🤍 since I had I locs I wanted to color them. I’ve done so much research and I’m so scared that I will damage my babies 🙃 maybe one day I’ll try it...have a wonderful and blessed day 🤎
Hi Casey =) I had that same fear, which is why I only dyed about 1/4 of my head the first time. It is scary. Maybe try just highlights in the front first, to see how your locs respond to color. You have a blessed bay as well Sis =)
Thank you so much :) Mary, your comments mean so much to me. I created this channel to help people and connect with others. Thank you for extending kindness to me through the internet =)
Hi =) Thank you for commenting! I'm sorry, I honestly cannot remember when I dyed my locs for the first time, but I know I had not reached one year yet.
Girl that Beyonce box has been here for us since the early 2000s lol! Sis hairstyle looks like it's straight out of a Chingy video lol! But you're right, it's something about jet black. It just makes the skin pop different!
Thank you so much. good video! I got a box of semi permanent dye that will Ade away after about 6 wash. I still hv 1 cm of hair that is not lock yet but I reaaaalllly want my lock red this summer! Do u know if the product is less strong as it is non permanent?
Love your video! I never seem to learn when it comes to wanting to get my locs lighter and lighter 🙈I still haven't tried bleach but the dyes have definitely done their damage
Hello I’m pastor Katie I just love your veido’s I’m learning a lot I’m 2 years and 5 months in , I use the natural hair dye black as well , some of my locs are thinning so I just bind them together with another loc . But thanks for all your veidos peace and blessings , Oh the first year my sister dyed my hair she used peroxide big mistake lot of my locs was very fragile and thinning through much prayer they are coming around .. Clairol natural dye is all I use now . Had to add a few extra to the 😢back of my head , peace and blessings to you .
Hi Nia, when you dyed using the honey blonde did you strip your hair first or just use the box dye. I dye my roots but would love to do my ends lighter but my hairdresser told me I have to strip first?
I’m a rebel so I went for it lol! I wonder if going to get it done professionally would give you some peace of mind. I will say dying mine myself has been a breeze for me so far. It’s gone fairly well every time, but I completely understand your concern.
I discovered the “all black” trick years ago, it really transforms the look of your locs, hides all imperfections for a uniform sleek look 💖
The “Beyoncé box….” Hahahahhahahahahhahahaha I’m immediately subscribed! I really enjoyed this video! ♥️
I think I am always going to remember that shade of Dark and Lovely as "The Beyonce" Box" .... thanks to you.
Lol 😂!!! You’re Welcome Sis !!!

I love the way hair wax paint looks on others, but I am so afraid to use it! Have you ever noticed any buildup with it ?

Thanks for sharing. I screamed when you said the blonde broke off. 😂😂

@@Niaimani92 You're welcome 😊. I highlighted my hair with a cinnamon red tone and some honey blonde. Trying to be fancy. 😆

This is my first video I’ve watched on your channel. I like how you speak and compose your message. It’s easy to follow along and understand.
Thank you 😊
Very informative for coloring sisterlocks that aren't fully locked
Thanks, I’m thinking about dying my hair. Also where did you get your glasses 👓?
You're welcome =) I got them from Amazon. They are blue light glasses. I love them.
Locs are looking lovely. How far in your loc journey did you first dye? I am 6 months in and considering going jet black
Hi =) Thank you for commenting! I'm sorry, I honestly cannot remember when I dyed my locs for the first time, but I know I had not reached one year yet.
Yes! Something about black hair just does it for me too. I used that same honey blonde dye on my relaxed hair years ago 😅

Nia A that’s hilarious. She’s really been on the box forever 😂
@@Niaimani92 That's my mom's color and she calls it the Beyonce box too!!!!!
Wonderful video! How many months loc'd were you the first time you dyed your locs?
Thank you =) I'm not sure. I don't think it was a year yet. Maybe 8 or 9 months lol! Too soon! I don't recommend doing it that soon.
@@Niaimani92 loool you got me. I'll try and wait it out.
My hair is already colored before my locks. I just want to color my grey new growth
My greys are popping out all over my head lol, I washed it and tomorrow I'm dying it jet black

Love this color dying my locs this color!
Hi Nia, when you dyed using the honey blonde did you strip your hair first or just use the box dye. I dye my roots but would love to do my ends lighter but my hairdresser told me I have to strip first?
I didn’t strip my hair first, but the color also wasn’t that vibrant. I bet she told you that so you that you could have the most vibrant results.
@@Niaimani92 ok..thank you!
Beautiful job. Thanks. Psalm 139:13,14

Your hair is beautiful ❤️
