this will have a couple up dates innthe recipe.
Recipe : 1 cup of butter
: 1 cup onion
: cup of celery
: Salt & pepper
2 cups chicken broth
2 cups of milk
2 cups of heavy whipping cream -or half and half
1- 8 oz. bar cream cheese
1/2 cup of sherry
1cup water/ 1 cup flour, or use (Wondra) it can be added as you need it to make the thickness you like. so you don't have to cook the flower taste out.
OLD BAY
1 pound of crab meat
Just clean it up not a big deal
There is a rumor going around that you can cook without making a mess. I am not buying into it. I always make a mess. That Cream of Crab looks delicious. I have to admit though, If I had access to fresh crab, I probably wouldn't make soup. ha ha Always a pleasure to watch your videos, keep up the good work.

Great video. Very direct and to the point. No time wasted getting to the recipe video. Ugh, I can't tell you how many people talk and talk and take nearly 10 and even up to twenty minutes to finally show the recipe. You get right into it. Also, I liked seeing the crab meat you have stored in your freezer. I always used milk but I see now that I can just simply vacuum seal it. So I learned two things from this video. Thank you

Eastern Shore Marylander all my life except for a few years working for Uncle Sam. That looks incredible, just can't figure how the chicken broth figures in?
This is a recipe I got from a young lady a long time ago, and when I made it, it was delicious, I didn't question her. Lol. Try it, the base of the soup can have just about anything in it. I am getting ready to make a batch if this real soon. Thank-you for watching!!!

If you go an
find a flower called "WONDRA" it is perfect. Once you are ready to thicken it. You add it until you get the thickness you like, because I like mine a little thick. And you don't to cook any flower taste out.
Man this is fantastic!! Just made it but didn't have any sherry on hand and in Owings Mills liquor stores are closed on Sundays. I'll just have to make another batch next week and add it to compare. Wife & kids loved it! Thanks for sharing!

Fellow Marylander here (Edgewater) and I've made this recipe at least 4 times. Everyone I share the soup with goes nuts for it. THANK YOU!! Sometimes I make the soup base and add steamed shrimp instead. YUM. PS- your videos are so entertaining too :)

I'm a MD gal & love blue crabs and old Bay! Been dying to try something like this. I am tho a bit confused about the butter? You write "1 cup" but used it to saute & in the pot? I'm more concerned about how much to add to the pot?
Yes just one cup. I only use some to cook the onions and celery. But the rest goes right in the pot. But only 1 cup. Thank you for watching
Made this tonight and it easily rivals anything we’ve had in Annapolis. We go a little extra on the sherry, but this recipe is fantastic.

Why don't you just use a emulsion blender for the vegetables
Nah! I just use the veggies for flavor. Some people would use the veggies and maybe add potatoes.

Hi, this soup looks absolutely amazing. I’m getting ready to order some blue crab meet online do you have any recommendations? I used to live on Virginia Stafford to be exact. Tim’s II in Fairview had my favorite cream of crab soup. Hopefully your soup when I make it is like it. I’m from Ohio but at heart msn yall are doing it right. Maybe my carpentry skills will take me back down to the coast once more. Thanks for the soup video been craving this soup like you can’t believe.

Just make sure the crab meat is from the USA. Maryland or Louisiana

Every time I try making cream of crab my butter ends up separating and I end up w puddles of butter.
Huh! I haven't had that happen just yet. We are thinking of doing a live stream soon, Making our cream of crab.
@@OutdoorsInMaryland I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I read that mixing the milk/ cream into the roux when the milk/cream is cold can make the butter separate. Idk

Dude, I'm a life long deale md resident and I've been working on mastering cream of crab soup for over thirty years, I will be stealing the cream cheese and onion and celery ideas. I always make my rue first, but I'm going to try it your way and see how it works out. Mad respect for your wife's crab picking abilities.

The females have Sweeter taste. For some reason a lot people don't particularly like females. I for one love both. Most restaurants or all use females meat to their crab cakes...

@@BoxieOutdoors for example, if you buy a half bushel of make crabs. It would cost anywhere between 60/80. Half bushel of females would be around 30/60$. Males are much more in demand. And I am a recreational crabber, we are not allowed to keep females. Only commercial crabbers can.

@@OutdoorsInMarylandSo I have a confession to make. I'm allergic to shellfish. Severely allergic to even the point where I can't have almost any of the invitation crab brands that are out there. However, there is a kosher version that you can buy at a Jewish grocery store which I purchased. I've been meaning to make cream of crab and crab cakes for a long time but wasn't able to find anything kosher until now. I was able to pick some up in pikesville. So I made this cream of crab soup right down to your very ingredient and I have to tell you.... It's absolutely fantastic. Now I don't know what this tastes like when it's made with real crab, but I can tell you with what I made it with..... It's phenomenal. I look forward to making this for my friends and I'm glad I found your recipe. I live in Dundalk so everybody over here loves their cream of crab soup! Costas Inn baby!! I'll be bringing this to work to let people tried who are not allergic to shellfish and regularly eat cream of crab and I'll let you know their thoughts on your recipe.
What kind of sherry do you use

Let me tell you buddy, it is awesome stuff. My buddy just made it.he says it is the best he ever had.. I am showing you all kinds of ways to make stuff with blue crab. If you want to make friends you do this stuff for them they will never leave!!! Haha

There are 2 small changes I did. 1 instead of mile and heavy cream, just add half and half.
Instead of 1 cup flower and 1 cup water, just add as need to the thickness you like a product called "wandra"

I don’t like thick soup lol and I have some health complications that might make a few of the ingredients difficult but I’ll figure it out and I’m not big on cream cheese so I’ll have to try a small amount to see how it turns out. Sounds to me you might have the next winning recipe!
You will not what so ever taste cream cheese ( in my opinion) it just gives it that creamy texture.
