Thank you for such a detailed review. I was looking for a guitar that will be 8 string, multi scale, has splitable humbuckers and has tremolo. Only Dean's checked all boxes. After viewing your video I was hesitant, however decided to take risk - at least I know what need to be fixed. I got a heavily discounted deal on it. Don't want to mention the price not to undervalue the model. Guitar I got was just fine. Strings aligned at comfortable height, tremolo parts seem to fit like they were made for each other. Overall I love it and it's unique, because it checked all my wish boxes. Your video is great to keep in bookmarks in case I need to fix it in the future. Thanks a lot!
Yeah, no problem! They haven’t been able to move these at all, and have been selling the 6 strings for well under a grand. At that price they are worth it for sure. 🤘🏻
I bought an ml select 8 that was set up correctly with polished/leveled frets etc. I think it's a matter of qc and consistency. Personally love the guitar but understand the quality issues at that price point
You got lucky on getting a good one.
$2000 for a korean made bolt on neck guitar is ridiculously nonsensical.🤦♂️
I have the exile select 6 which was 1100 new I bought mine used for less. I love the finish it's awesome and the look of the guitar. I will be modifying the hardware though the strings buzz pretty bad. It has a cheap plastic nut, and the bridge I think is cheap as well I have the tuneomatic style. I was even thinking of changing the pickups to passive but the emgs are starting to grow on me, but I think I am going to order a jb and neck pickup. Prob put the emg 57 66 tw in my schecter c1 elite and turn it into a hybrid hellraiser.
Good work to bring that up to the standard of setup it really should have been out of the box. I never have liked Kahler nuts......
Nor have I. And thanks!
Oh man that's shite! For that type of money you'd expect perfect and absolutely should be stainless steel frets. Granted, the nickel was definitely a bit easier on your tools, but should have 100% been stainless steel.
Additionally I found the information about when you set your intonation and then each of your frets was off as you went up the neck, found that really interesting and helpful. I appreciate you sharing all that detail. Helps me with my own guitars, so thank you.
Glad I could help!
Good job,it's nice to know how to do this kind of work yourself but honestly if I were you I would have sent it back bro. Tried your luck with a replacement
Yeah, you're not wrong. I don't think I would have fared much better with a different one though. Dean has gone to shit.
Wonder how these will hold value in the long run? As for that huge fan towards the bottom it’s basically impossible to play bar chords up higher on the fretboard. I don’t know, looks very awkward to me, but you could probably get used to anything…
I’d say not well at all. They are already selling for 800-900 brand new, and that’s a drop from 2,600.
@@brutesmagootes3996 I’ve yet to see them that low! The lowest I’ve seen is the 7 string ML for about $1300.
A lot of shops where doing deep discounts over the holidays
You can get these new for ~$1400
Yeah, they had to lower the price by $1,200 because they quickly learned they couldn’t move something built like that at $2,600. 👍🏻
@Brutes Magootes agree that 1200-1400 should have been more of the price point. I love the neutral nut and the one direction fanning that you mentioned. Hope more brands follow
Hello do you have any websites that sell these for that price range? Thinking of getting one for drop tuning. Thanks
