Running this on esxi server with 1gb ram (my "server" is a dell sff with 16gb ram :), and it runs beautifully, sometimes though I have noticed, after an upgrade, it does not automatically come on, a manual kick in the VM is needed. but besides that, its heaven.
One of the nice things of running this in a VM such as stupendously easy disaster recovery etc. is that in my particular HA instance (70+ devices and nearly a thousand entities) the VM operates smoothly on 1 (1.4Ghz) core and 1GB memory. So the resource flexibility (I started out with allocating 2 cores and 4GB) is quite nice instead of just bluntly using a multicore SBC with 4GB memory. ps. The DS918+ (upgraded to 16GB) also runs an additional 40 docker containers!
I have been running HA little over a year and a half using Synology VMM (both DSM6.2.x and DSM7.1) and it works flawlessly including USB dongle (TI CC2531) support.
Amazing video. Thanks for the tutorial . It was butter smooth. First time when i installed i was not able to assign the cores and ram . second time i was able to . dont know how . have a great day
This error is displayed on the VM :-"The configured guest OS (Other (64-bit)) for this virtual machine does not match the guest that is currently running (Other 5.x Linux (64-bit)). You should specify the correct guest OS to allow for guest-specific optimizations." any suggestions.
I cant seem to get this thing installed no matter what I try. The error I got now is the VM hardware not supported. I tried downloading the ovftool and it doesn't execute. Crazy how much hiccups I'm having. SMH

Thanks for your assistance Frank! Much appreciated!
