Finally someone who know how di ting go 😂 Its such an insult to tell a Jamaican that they're only African, as if to say that hundreds and hundreds of years building a unique culture that consists of contributions from all races and all parts of the globe. To completely ignore and not acknowledge that , hell naw. the funny thing is African people are telling us that we're African and are glad to take credit for all our culture, when they dont even know anything about our history. No we are not Africans, we're Jamaicans. Fun facts: Every latin american country has plantain as a staple food even more than jamaica, and Costa Rica is the only other country that actually eats ackee like Jamaicans, its not Africans.

We have our own black cultures around the world that we've built and have sustained for many years after slavery. We are not giving that up to call ourselves Africans. We are hundreds of years removed from anything African and we take on our black culture according to what our parents and grandparents have taught us. I'm Jamaican-born and bred. and so is my family. This is my culture who I am and what I was raised to be NOT African. Why would I throw away my own culture just to call myself African which I know nothing about. Yes, we are descendants of Africans and we acknowledge that, but that's as far as it goes! Leave us alone we are Jamaicans! And a lot of Africans would laugh at us if we were to call ourselves Africans so it goes both ways.

Firstly, All black Caribbean people know we are of Africa. Thats where we originate. But we all hold national pride of our respective countries and know about history. too many of us are mixed with indigenous Amerindian and European that our genetic features have been altered for centuries. However, Africa is our original home. I went to one of the French speaking countries in West Africa last year and i felt like i was at home in the Caribbean, but on a bigger scale. Haitians are the closest to original Africans in terms of genetics. But in terms of national pride, every Caribbean national holds their country dear. thats like saying Antiguans are Jamaicans, or people from the Dominican Republic are people from the Commonwealth of Dominica. We will absolutely call bullshit. But in truth, we are of African decent. we do not deny that.

I think about the slave trade it took 56 days on boat to get there and 56 days to get back Nobody will survive that journey in the woods that didn’t make it. Some of those people died off and we’re sick and the ones that did make it intermarried and bred with our ancestors in the mountains who were the natives Arawak Taino Kalinago garfuni maroon our ancestors let those Africans that came on the ship intermingle Intero tribes excepted them as one of their own even Moors made it to the Caribbean and South America description of people that look exactly like that were already living there even before Christopher Cullen

Africans are fully aware that that Jamaicans are Jamaicans and wouldn't want to force anything on anyone despite the history.
