  • Windows 10 Users Forced To Upgrade to Windows 11
It seems Windows 10 users are being tricked and tempted by Microsoft to upgrade to Windows 11. These popups happen during the start up process of Windows and when at the desktop. You can decline, but its easy to make a mistake and when you restart you will have Windows 11 installed on your computer. A lot of people feel that Microsoft are trying to force them to upgrade to Windows 11 with these pop ups messages like, we recommend windows 11 for your device and restart to stay up to date.

    • @Dandan-tg6tj
      @Dandan-tg6tj 2 года назад +3

Because people actually do want to update to W11 so this is why they complained about it, though there are motherboards older than socket 1155 (Intel gen 2) which have all of the requirements for W11 already built in.
People "don't want" to upgrade to W11 because they need to buy another PC so the W11 suddenly becomes undesirable.
Still, based on the history of past Windows releases, W11 can't be good.

@@Dandan-tg6tj Yeah. The need to buy a new PC was really a hype killer for some. And of course there's also the issue of what to do with unsupported PCs, just throw them away? I think there was even a Ryzen model that was not supported, throw that away too? I'd hate to be the owner of a PC like that.
But in retrospect, if I am that concerned with privacy and the privilege to make an offline account in Windows then I guess W11 isn't a loss. I'm still in W10 and I don't see the need to upgrade. I'm still playing 10 year old games.

    • @Dhalin

I'm on the fence myself. I have a win10 machine that works mostly fine (I think there's a small annoying RAM issue or something that causes a game to crash once in a blue moon, probably Silicon Lottery type stuff). My computer does not have TPM 2.0 so I will never have to worry about w11. I may or may not want another PC at some point, but which OS? Eh, I think I would want to stick with 10. I don't like how that one screen says "Some features will not be available in W11" and "Some apps will have increased requirements" ... it's like "uh, why?" that and there's the "ok, why do I need w11 when 10 is working fine?" And with how the political stuff is going on these days... newer is always sus, because they add more spyware and junk in there to track what you're doing, putting backdoors into your system, etc. Not sure I want any of that.

    • @Dandan-tg6tj
      @Dandan-tg6tj Год назад

@@Dhalin Imagine you run a full diagnostic on your PC and find out that one stick of RAM is faulty. You change that specific stick of RAM and you live your life happily ever after.
You may not even need to change a stick of RAM, it may be only the pins of RAM sticks who needed a little cleaning.
Your motherboard could have accumulated some moist dust somewhere and a professional cleaning might solve your problems.
It may be the video card who does some tricks now and then. I found out that because of the excessive heat most video cards shut down for a tiny bit or even completely.
Finally, there's a possibility your hard drive can have accumulated some bad sectors (SSDs can too).
There's a huge chance none of the above to be true but one of your drivers to glitch.
There's software to test everything, of course, but to read and understand the readings is not very straight-forward most of the times.
Long story short, you don't need another OS.
You can reinstall W10 64B anew and this should solve your problems.
Anyway make a backup of the data you want to keep and think hard if you missed any precious pictures or clips you may have forgotten where you stored them.
      Only then install W10.

I recall class action lawsuits a number of years ago over these ninja upgrades.
People would come into work, turn on their computers, and wouldn't be able to use it for 4 hours while Windows auto-updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7. There wasn't even a warning popup or anything. It just started updating upon booting. History repeats itself.

Interestingly Microsoft Update states " This PC doesn't currently meet the system requirements to run Windows 11". The interesting bit is the the word "Currently". This gives the impression that they may be forced to move the goal posts as huge numbers of perfectly serviceable computers cannot run Windows 11 and the relatively low take up will not look good. Moving the goalposts to ensure more computers are capable of running Windows 11 would appear to be Microsofts only option it also appears that a lot of people don't like Windows 11 as it doesn't appear to offer any benefit over Windows 10.

I think Microsoft forced people to upgrade to Windows 11 when they said they'd stop supporting Windows 10 by 2025. Anything extra is just the cherry on top. The main problem with Windows 11 is TPM 2.0, which has been problematic to say the least. Running ftpm on an AMD system? You probably haven't been able to pass the health check app. It's been puzzling manufacturers because TPM is basically the only requirement, aside from having a certain level processor etc.

I have one mini PC with Windows 10 pre-installed, no bloatware surprisingly, and I won't be upgrading to 11 but Linux. It seems to me that Microsoft are in league with hardware manufacturers to create as much landfill E-waste as they can. Then you have printers, scanners, and other hardware which won't work on 11 because the manufacturers are also in cahoots to force you to buy new peripherals and won't supply new drivers. The more we allow this, the more they will do it.

I tried windows 11 twice (once on launch and once months later) and it is literally worse than windows 10 in some ways including performance and even RAM usage. There's bugs i found that still haven't been fixed including one that is more major in my opinion where all icons next to the clock (and including the clock) disappear randomly and even restarting explorer won't work in my case nor will restarting my pc but if i open a specific program like task manager it will come back as if nothing went wrong. The only workaround i can find is using explorer patcher and forcing a windows 10 style taskbar and menu. Whoever greenlit windows 11 needs to be fired especially when they also greenlit releasing it soo early in development. If a year or two delay was given it would have been better and even may have more features.

What is so odd about Windows 11 marketing is how different it is from say, Windows 95. People lined up for hours before 95 was available, and many didn't really know what 95 was, but the marketing made them want it, anyway. And they had to buy it. This was the days of a rather small internet, so the marketing was by TV.
Now the internet is huge, with many channels warning the user of many Windows updates, especially 11.And Microsoft is marketing direct to the user. I was on the Insider program for a long time, from Windows 8 and up and got many more updates that the normal user. I always let Microsoft install them. Now and then there would be a minor issue. Once my PC would log me in and then stick on the screen before the desktop. Sometimes took a few reboots.
Even if you get a message with an 11 invite doesn't mean it will install, if Microsoft hasn't done a scan of your PC. I have Windows 11 on 5 out of 6 machines, and only one is fully compatible. I wanted Win 11 on the rest, so I performed the available hacks to get it. I like it. I even installed it on an 11 year old Sony laptop with a spin drive and 4GB of RAM. Once I cloned the drive to an SSD, it is actually reasonably quick, considering the processor.
I have never had a data loss by upgrading to a newer version of Windows, in spite of the number of PCs that have been updated multiple times. The Sony had a massive loss of all Windows user data years ago (Win 7, I think), but I have a feeling the person using it at the time downloaded something bad.

It's because WIndows 95 was completely unlike previous versions of Windows that were basically just a separate addon shell, a more updated version of the dosshell program that had been included previously. It brought a bunch of the stuff that Mac OS had already had, along with new cool features. At this point, there's simply not that much that could be added to any OS that would warrant that. I suppose if somebody gets VR to work properly, that might do it, but the opportunities for that level of excitement are just that much harder to find.

My computer does not meet the requirements for 11. You don't know how glad I am about this. I will very happy to wait till end of service - matter of fact on my last PC I was using XP and 8 months before end of support for it I decided to see how long I could push it. Well finally when no company supported it anymore the OS literally got so corrupt that it literally died rather quickly after more than 2 years. During the last 6 months or so I was putting in at least 25 hours/week keeping it alive. Was it worth it/YES - Would I do it again/NO. The first year was ok but I just kept spending more and more time keeping it alive - at some points towards the end I was putting a solid 25 hours/week(ug). For those that do not update, this is not the best of ideas. I've had this computer for 4 years now and any 10 Pro Update I got was just fine, with minor resseting of text etc. This feature you are explaining does not bode well with me as MS has gone too far trying to push people into 11. 11 is not ready to be available with all of the complaints, bad programming and fixes. MS should have levt well enough alone and just added proven features, perhaps calling the new Updates 10.1 Updates and roll them out slowly when they actually work. 👍 As usual

True .. true and True !! Wow talk about “them,” trying to shove it down your throat !! 😂😂
I’ve got 10-Pro fully updated on my primary (SSD), and machine. However on a separate (Legacy) mechanical drive, I have 11-Pro whereas I swap them out for comparison purposes
Thanks for the very informative video.. as always. Looking for your next video(s). Cheers my friend. !! 🍻 👍👍 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (p.s. no I have not seen these pop-ups as of yet.)

Mate, I accidentally updated to Windows 11. Don’t know what to do. Is this called in place upgrade? I want to install Microsoft Flight Simulator. Do I need a fresh Windows 11 installation or the one I have should be good?

All of or most of my steam games working on Linux can't come soon enough. Come on Steam OS!!
More telemetry is all I see. Upgrade so Microsoft can get more data from that they can't get from 10. If this was on Windows 7 or 8 I can understand, but Windows 10 is good until 2025/6. So there's no reason except shady practices.

@@basilcat3111 You might be able to buy not sure. Steam OS isn't out yet so I guess you can try when it releases.

Sounds like a wonderful time for people to experiment with Linux. Recommend Mint or Ubuntu for newcomers. Its very easy to play with without committing to a full transition if you want to test it out first. There are plenty of guides on how to set up these Operating Systems on Virtual Box and see if its a good fit for you. Thank you for the informative video Britec.

Yeah, my tower is not only not compatible for windows 11, my pc refuses to fully take the 21H2 update, goes through the whole process of trying to install anyways, then fails and uninstalls what it did.
