  • As promised, some Laser Spot Tracker (LST) operations, preceded with some remote JTAC hellfire engagements. See how you can hide behind a mask and lob hellfires at bad guys, and then use the LST to find laser spots and lase targets for remote shots.

    What server are you going on now? I found a server called HeloWorld and it's really good. You can't see any of the enemy on the map unless a friendly unit is looking at them.

    The way to make sure you are pointing the right way is to get the grid from the JTAC's transmission and make a waypoint from it. Then set Direct To WP5 (or whatever) in the Route Menu and you can see it in the IHADSS display (Helmet). Then you set your Hellfire to LOAL HI and fire from 8-9km away in complete cover and safety towards the WP indicator you can see. No need to mess around with the F10 map at all.

      I’m familiar with how to create waypoints. 😂

      @@schoolio64D well then you wouldn't have had the issue of pointing the right way. The jtac gives you the tgt grid.

      @@ianboys1000 if the enemy targets are depicted on the f10 map, it’s much more expedient to look at the map, draw a line, and get the bearing. I will agree that if the targets aren’t on the map, plug in the grid and create a waypoint. But this is a game, and when you have a map of the targets’ locations in the game, it’s faster to look at the map than it is the fiddle around with the MPD and KU for 30-60 seconds. I didn’t draw a bearing line initially and thought I knew where they were because I’ve flown this map many times. I was off by a few degrees. It cost me one imaginary hellfire. Oops.

      This particular server has the ability to spawn a JTAC around the known enemy locations, and then the JTAC "calls" on your frequency with his laser code and target type. It is all server-dependent.

      I have a 3080. I'll probably try to acquire a 4090 in a few months, or if there ends up being a 4090ti, I'll go that route.

    So if the jtac is lasing at 1687 then you set CODE to 1687 since your missile has to see his laser. But what is LST for?

    • @schoolio64D
      @schoolio64D  Год назад +1

      LST is your laser spot tracker. It allows you to slave the TADS to where the spotter is looking. Why do you need it? Any number of reasons, but the one that comes to my mind perhaps your JTAC might need you to find the target quickly and then he needs to move on to lasing a target for your wingman, or even someone else. Or maybe he's under fire and can only lase for a few seconds at a time. These are more real life scenarios, but I'm sure you get my point.

    great video as always !
    do we have info about in game range of the LST tracking ? (iirc there was a fictional wall with some of the TGP, but i dont remember the precise distance where it happened)

    • @schoolio64D
      @schoolio64D  Год назад

      Not that I have come across, and I don't recall any actual aircraft limit on the LST. I think the only thing I was ever told was that it would out range the missile, so I didn't have to worry about it.
