3:31:24 that Dark Magician player was... infuriating to say the least. He had game, even with Avramax out. He just needed to Tribute Summon that one copy of Dark Magician in his hand instead of using Eternal Soul to cheat it out, and Piercing the Darkness will ensure he will have a 5500 ATK beater that Avramax can't boost himself with. Instead, he just... bunga.
He already used his normal summon with Magician's rod, plus he only had one monster in the field at the begin of the main phase. Yes, what he did after that, attack an avramax 2 freaking times and summon the dragon knight IN ATTACK, was totally stupid and grinded my gears as a Dark Magician player and i was even mad at him. Still the opponent had a nice board, that Masquerena and his monsters on field are enough for an unknown goddess that could disrupt any kind of comeback he could have (unless the opponent didnt had the goddess on his extra deck) i think the DM player knew this and thats why he Normal Summoned staff expecting a Goddess with that Masquerena. You can tell that cause he used Eternal Soul to Special Summon his DM on hand as a response to Masquerena, so when the chain resolves and a new chain begins he could use the circle on the goddess to banish her but then he got outplayed with an Avramax. If the goddess is on field you cannot use Eternal Soul effect cause you can summon from hand and GY BUT the goddess negates any intention to Special Summon from GY, just like what Eternal Soul does. At the begin of his main phase he had 4 cards on hand: a dark magician, magician's rod, maxx c and another card. Unless that card was Timaeus, it would be almost imposible to tribute summon his DM on hand. The only way to go is to link summon something using his DM on field, then use Eternal Soul to resummon him from the GY, use the effect of Piercing the darknes to draw one card and the circle to banish the XYZ just like he did, then tribute summon the DM on his hand using his DM on field and the link monster as tributes, attack the avramax and hope the card he got was something usefull to survive next turn. Other way was to make the play just like he did, but before the battle phase, Link 2 using both of his DMs (something like a masquerena), Special Summon Timaeus from hand discarding circle (Or secrets of dark magic, to keep more pressure), then Link 5 the Unknown goddess of the close world using his Avramax as material, direct attack and hope he has something usefull in hand to survive next turn. DM player had some options but he didnt had the game on the bag.
