extremely underwhelming on style power and price. 30hp less than the pan america at 120hp. im sure you can get a 10 k sportster add 5k horsepower kit and get around the same power .

@@red2432 we agree that the looks are not for everyone (even some of our guys are not in love with the new look), and that you might be able to get close to some of the new Sportster figures from a stock Sportster but they would be totally different beasts. The new Sportster S has 6 gears, is liquid cooled, and has ride modes just to name a few of the huge differences. The Sportster S is definitely not for everyone, but it is definitely more than a suped up stock Sportster. 🤙

Looks like HD has finally made a real effort instead of coming up with a different paint job every year. I wonder if opposition from Indian had anything to do with that? I’ve got a ‘91 1200 Sportster I’ve owned since near new, the new Sportster S looks like a vast improvement right up there with the latest V-twin sport bikes. If they made it more “sport” with more conventional wheels and maybe dual discs I’d be seriously looking at one.

If i can compare it with triumph rocket 3 (new generation) this is thicks all the boxes. My god i cant believe i say this but i would actually test ride this harley and may be even buy it. I am assuming because the bike is low the centre gravity is quite good so i am assuming the bike handles quite good. Not too sure about single front brake and very small suspension travel but thats the part needs to be test ride. For my like i think the rear suspensions 2 inch travel is a little insane. Any potholes or bad roads you will get a smach on your ass, could potentialy hurt people with back problems, i am thinking the suspenision must be quite firm. Would have be a perfect bike if the suspension travel alittle more and double front brakes. But again it needs to ridden and find out.

There is no doubt Harley Davidson had to start producing Cadillac smooth motorcycles with no old schoolers & MC’s dictating their direction. It appears that HD has designed any and all flaws out of the revolution max to move them forward because the days of those hot air cooled engines are over.
HD cannot go back to the old way of doing and building engines for their motorcycles after this, 1950’s/1960’ technology like the big primary chain rotating in oil, pushrods, rocker arms, pushrod lifters, and the loud shifting clunk. This revolution max engine has 150hp in the Pan American & 121hp in the Sportster to me means with a slight modification this engine of some type similar will be in touring models sooner than later. Full counter balancing and a liquid cooling is something v twins have been missing out on for decades not to forget single hole oil fill and oil drain.

Looks cool, finally a modern motor in a Harley... Should be pretty quick, but I have my doubts about the handling with that front tire and the lack of ground clearance...
I really wish that they had built the Bronx. If they dumped a 150hp liquid cooled motor into a streetfighter chassis, Brembos and proper suspension... I would be at the Harley dealer in a heartbeat.
They need to get with the times. Nostalgia only gets you so far. The under 30 crowd today doesn't know what Easy Rider was, or care. Boomers are hanging up their helmets and moving on from riding. if Harley doesn;t offer modern bikes that people want to buy, rather than countless variations of the same 4 bikes since the 70's, they are gonna be in for a rough time.
Seeing bikes like this, is encouraging. The Pan American is weird looking, but its them stepping outside of the box, so I like it.

@@grandtetonharley-davidson8690 They need to. I know a lot of folks like me that would never even consider a Harley, consider the Bronx. My riding career over the past 26 years, has had me owning 28 bikes. Some Japanese bikes, but a lot of Ducati, Triumph and Aprilia. I ride street and occasionally do track days...
Some of my favorite bikes have been Monsters, Speed/Street Triples, a Streetfighter, Tuono, etc... Naked sportbikes with gobs of power, but precise handling, etc...
I have always looked at Harley through the lens of "Great American history, but heavy, slow... yesterday's technology at tomorrow's premium prices". They have always been a lifestyle brand to me. You don't buy a Harley because you want the best ride, performance or value. You buy a Harley because you WANT A HARLEY. You are buying into the lifestyle... You buy the bike, you buy the uniform dark jeans, orange shirt, wallet chain and bandana... haha
But seeing bikes like this and the Pan America, and maybe one day, the Bronx... That will bring folks like me in the door. A true modern sportbike with American lineage and style, and a really strong dealer network...
The problem that Harley faces, is that they are too afraid to piss off their aging fan base. Look at how the VRod, or the XR1200 was received... two of the best bikes they ever made, and they flopped because "This isn't what we are used to!"...
Ducati had the same hurdle when they ditched the dry clutch, and trellis frame from their superbikes. The wailing from the fans was deafening. And yet, the frameless Panigale took the world by storm, and in 2017 it was the best selling superbike in the world for the first time in their history. They beat Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki. One of every 4 superbikes sold that year, was a Ducati.
So sometimes, risking pissing off your fanboys, really pays off. Harley needs to take charge and be bold here.
