Looks are spectacular and a modern Classic/Harley blend. I am a bit concerned about the suspension travel. Your reviews are BADASSED and Fun as Hell! Always a bright spot to see a new one!
Sporty's I've always had very short suspension... That's why I sold my first sporty and bought my first big twin. When this engine or when HD releases a bigger version of this engine into one of their full size bikes the result will be a AMAZING BIKE with plush suspension!
Looking to get my first bike. Never even looked at Harley until now, but I’m falling in love with this bike. Japanese bikes always looked and felt so cheap and plasticky to me, so this is right up my alley. Man, this and the FTR S Indian bike are both sexy. Plus of course Triumph, bmw and the Ducati scramblers. Old school with a blend of the new (fast and sporty).. choices, choices 🤔
If they put two discs up front people would complain that they can’t see the wheel. It looks much better with only one and as long as it stops the bike, that’s the way to go.
I'm sure, that when the 2nd generation Sportster S is released, it will probably have Brembo dual disk brakes in front. Longer travel shocks! A displacement increase to 1500cc. What else would I like? An abundance of aftermarket performance parts! How about a sport fairing? Naw! What about you? What would you like, to be added?
About those who don’t like the new technology for HD, I ask What happened to Porche when they kept developing the technology for their car’s? And I hope the same will happen to HD. I have a 2004 RK and in 2020 purchased a RGS and there is no comparison what so ever and don’t get me wrong I STILL love my RK but the RG is way better in every way, breaks, handling, smoothness of the engine just to name a few. I can only imagine if H-D would come out with a RG with this level of technology. BTW my wife also traded her Breakout for a RGS and she absolutely loves it. We thought we wouldn’t need a new bike after this BUT if HD comes out with something like this or the PanAm I think we will go for the new technology. Good job reporting, I also liked the report you did for the PanAm.Danke👍
I'm really happy to see that you can stand strait up with the mid controls. (end of video) That is one of the most necessary features of a moto that I would own. This is also the best looking Harleys ever made and the Pan's engine and clutch are butter smooth. Sportster S has everything the 2021 Ducati Monster has except for the quick shifter New Monster has everything the 2021 Sportster S has except for cruise control Guess it's too much to ask to have it all lol
These new designs have me liking Harleys for the first time since I was a child. I especially love how quirky the Pan American looks. Could still never afford one though. 😊
I'm very opened mined about the new Sportster S as well I want one! I think they look bad ass too! And Black hell yes the Black is the one ! Although I would probably go for the mid controls and changeup the pipes to 2 into 1 low slung exhaust . I got to test ride one of these !
Fantastic review. I have seen pictures of this bike prior to the review, but didn't realise the 122hp! Wow, that really surprised me. What a change from the original, looks great!
It looks terrible, that tiny seat is terrible, 2 inches of rear wheel suspension travel is terrible, single disc brake up front is terrible, double can high rise, dirt track inspired exhaust is terrible, heavy wheels is terrible, no rear seat or pegs, comes stock with forward controls is terrible
Greetings from Bangkok Juliane, excellent review on the Sportster and your reviews in General! I was never a Sportser fan always liked Fat boy, Street bob, or the Break-out for the more sleek shape, but this is a nice new look on Sportster, new technology, and design. Really good to see they are going with the times on many models, at H.D. I am sold! The weight reduction is impressive! Not sure if this is my favorite one , would love to customize it , then it will look amazing .
LIKE THE BIKE AS A MODEL OF THE SPORTSTER BUT WOULD LIKE TO SEE OTHER MODELS BESIDES POWER CRUSER GOOD JOB JULIANNE AND NICE SHIRT KEEP COMING WITH GOOD VIDEOS
Great review! Usually the dual discs on the front have 2 calipers each, this with the single disc has 4 so that will be why it felt more than adequate.
I’d look at replacing those bars for traffic filtering and that standard tank with a Pan American tank to give the bike some decent range. The windshield sounds like a good idea.
@@ronlheureux7623 Actually I've been told by Harley people who made a video / review it would fit with only very little, if any changes. People were fitting 3.5 gallon tanks to Custom version of the previous model Sportsters.
Nice review Juliane. The thing that lets this bike down is the lack of suspension travel. 51mm on the rear is just a joke. It's going to crash over rough roads as you found out. I would change the rear shock for one with more travel if I bought one but you should not have too. Harley dropped the ball with this. Ride safe.
Harley Davidson is going in a new direction with this new revolution max T engine, also liquid cooling is something that v twins have been missing out on for decades. HD has stepped into the Cadillac smooth riding arena where old schoolers and old MC clubs don’t dictate the direction, after this there is no way Harley can go back. The days of those hot air cooled engines are over as the days of a huge shift clunk and a huge problematic primary chain rotating in oil.
When Japanese bikes took over in the 80s, people said that was the doomsday for H-D. 40 years later, air cooled V-Twins still exist. No doubt they will be here for a long time still.
Brilliant test ride review. A balanced, interesting, informative and professionally presented review. Luv your comment, don’t get mad if you like the old style buy a used one. Way to go girl. Thank you great work. Mind how you go Juliane. Neil x

After market companies will jump straight onto rear shock. Actually Happy it has been updated know the chapter's Will discuss but this would be awesome topic.

I think the reduction to 228kg attracts a lot of people, who are scary about heavier bikes. The only question for me is, why they don't go below 90 db of noise, because I am afraid, that more strict regulatins could be possible in the future. You see it in some frequently used roads in Tyrol / Austria. Bikers who bought a Rocket or a Ducati from their honest and with hard work earned money, where ditched from these aerea. Only a reminder: In 1983 a Honda CX 500 C had 79 dB in the papers. Nowadays more than 50 years after the first landing on the moon, the industry is not able to produce lower noise emissions, straight out of the official version of a bike ?
Auspuff finde ich eigentlich ganz geil, aber der Sound muss besser werden. Kennzeichenhalter + Rücklichter muss man definitiv was machen. Freu mich schon drauf was da so rauskommen wird :-)
I'm kind of jealous now, since Harley riders will actually know what it feels like to ride a real modern motorcycle. Everyone knows someone who says their 70 horsepower, 700 pound Harley is extremely fast. I've snickered and laughed behind their back, but I can't anymore. The new Harley bikes are *actually* fast.

In my opinion, there's never been anything sporty about the sportster until this bike. If I had to put the sportster into words, it'd be "obese, yappy, mama's basement". Evidently, Harley designer's are finally starting to realize the definition of the word sport... Keep it up!
