    "its just a part of college football", ya well it doesnt have to be. I check the portal lists everyday, and there are some schools which you rarely if at all see on there. They keep players because they dont recruit over them plain and simple, and you guys can dance around that point all you want. The way it is now aint working.
    Fick came here saying he wanted to develop players......right now that looks like a bold face LIE! He keeps bringing in 15-20
    players in the portal who get the play time. No wonder guys are leaving for the most part. Lucas was tampered with we all know that. Maybe Lafulea who signed with msu. But for the most part they see no oppty here.....to even develop as promised.
    The D changed twice in 2 years. First they wanted 3-3 hands in the dirt, then changed to the 2-4 with 2 olb's again
    which failed because they didnt play a guy like Lafuela because Fick had a win now panic attack??
    Which totally backfired this year. I'm surprised Cheeks even stayed.
    And now they want what? 3-3 again with one OLB and 2 ILB's. This staff is a complete joke and the way they are going about recruiting players now is even more of a joke. They refuse to match their scheme to the players they have so go out and bring retreads to play over them.
    What i worry about now is our Best recruiters Pat and Max leaving because they can no longer sell a lie.
    Blow it up after next year and start over. Let the Watt brothers pay for canning Fickle.

    The transfer portal and NIL is the sad reality of college sports these days. The way they are structured now is killing college sports. Personally I am losing interest in college sports.

      I still love college sports. Hard working adults deserve to get paid. They aren't to blame...it's the greedy NCAA and schools. They never wanted to pay and thus....as always....if you fail to plan, then you've planned to fail. This will get fixed in time. Hopefully once we throw the NCAA into the garbage.

      I feel that I recently passed the 50% "check out" threshold. If 20-50% of players swap teams every year then what is the point of being a fan?

  • @markadsit
    @markadsit Месяц назад +3

    We need contracts with term and performance provisions for players just like for the NFL/NBA and we need them now. The players are no longer students, they are employees. Failing that, there will simply be no reason for anyone top continue being a fan of college sports; we already have the pro leagues and they are much more entertaining. The likelihood of that coming from the federal government, at least in any meaningful form, is poor at best. The B1G and SEC and the media companies are going to have to do it. If they do not, there will be a precipitous decline in eyeballs for all.

  • @kommandantklink5032
    @kommandantklink5032 Месяц назад +2

    Greg Gard said it well last year when Chucky left. A lot of players leaving now are making financial decisions as the reason for leaving. It's that simple. I don't blame the player for that. It's the NIL system that needs tweaking. They need an NIL salary cap. Each team gets the same amount to spend. Spend those NIL dollars wisely. Not very realistic that it will happen but something needs to be done with the current system and fast.

    Losing Lucas is a big loss because of the potential he showed last year on the field and he has 3 years of eligibility remaining. That was a big get last year getting him out of Miami. That said I get why he would transfer to a school close to home along with a big NIL payday. He is the kind of player you want to build a roster around. How do you build a roster these days when every player is a free agent every year? It's got to be tough being a head coach and trying to build a program.
    Wisconsin doesn't have the deep pockets to compete with the top power schools to retain their top players. I look at Wisconsin now like I do the Milwaukee Brewers in baseball. When your players become good your probably going to lose them to a team with deeper pockets. At least with baseball you have control over players for a certain number of years so you could form some attachment with the player before they could test free agency but in college now you can test free agency every year so its hard to build that bond with a player like you could in the past. Makes it really hard to follow and get excited about college sports these days for me.

    seems that Lucas' father has medical problems and he wants to be back in the miami area to be around him. clearly there was still some tampering involved from miami. especially odd how Wisconsin still hasn't officially forwarded his profile or whatever to the transfer portal, which is what all teams are supposed to do within 24 hours of a player announcing their entry into the portal
    seems that fickell has found some type of evidence of tampering, or he still has a shot at convincing Lucas to stay at Wisconsin

    The main reason so many DBs are going to smaller schools is because that's where their ability level is at. Don't believe me.....where did Lucas go! We just have to admit that the talent we had during the coaching transition was not at the level needed to compete in today's BIG 10.
