I made it a point to carefully read the Ross Dellenger article at Yahoo Sports concerning the Power 4 conferences 'solution' to athletic compensation and, yikes! I have a hard time believing this will hold up when the inevitable litigation occurs. Who represents the athletes' interests, Delloite? Nope, they're employed by the conferences. Will the 'investigator' have subpoena power? Will the investigator be able to bind people under oath? Who will bring charges against alleged perpetrators and vet the veracity of said charges? Do defendants have the right to countersue for damages if they can prove the allegations were made in bad faith or are found innocent? The whole thing feels like a half-baked attempt to move the problem of collegiate athletic compensation out of the courts and into a backroom somewhere beyond public scrutiny.

Coach Grimes will do 2 vital things to help UW's offense improve drastically: 1. Marry the run and pass game. UW will always have more size than speed, which lends itself to running the ball. But if you can create deception and conflict for the defense by making your run and pass game look same-as, especially with some interesting motions and formations, it should create more open receivers and explosive plays. 2. Adapt to personnel It seems like a no-brainer to adapt to what your players do best. But it's surprising how many coaches just want to run their offense regardless of the type of players they have.

Happy Gilmore, Happy Badgers. But this final 10 game stretch will not be easy. Badgers will need a lot more out of Gilmore and others when several players disappear as they did vs NW. This team could easily finish 4-6 or worse down the stretch if they dont get it it going. Or they could go 8-2 if they play up to their potential and make a run to the Sweet 16. But last 2 games they have slowed down just enough to allow defenses to get set on them and take them out of their offense. That to me is a red flag.

I remember everyone raving about the linebacker portal transfers from the year before. How did that work out? I just will repeat what I have said in previous posts, I have been burnt by this hype to much in the past to get real excited and now I just take a wait and see attitude. If Grimes style fits more in what Fickell wants then why in the world did Fickell hire Longo in the first place? I don't pay much attention to this coach speak when they talk about the offense or defense they are going to run. All sounds so great when they talk about it doesn't it. The proof in the pudding will be seeing it on the field. I remember everyone was so fired up when Longo was hired and we were going to open things up with the "Air Raid" When I hear people say we are going to now run a pro style offense what does that actually mean? I know we want to establish the run more but I don't want to go back to the Paul Chryst predictable type of offense where you can't pass the ball and try to run against 8 or 9 men in the box and basically only pass if it is 3rd and long. That isn't going to get us where we want to go and that kind of offense is not a pro style offense IMO. Statistically speaking hopefully the run pass ratio is something like 55/45 in favor of the run. You guys were talking about if you can't run the ball your dead but against the good teams you better be able to pass the ball too or you will be dead because those good teams will likely shut down your running game if that is all you can do. One other thing I hope our two minute offense doesn't revert back to the Paul Chryst days. I have seen glaciers move faster than our offense did. Drove me nuts that they looked liked they had never practiced running a two minute offense. Took them forever to get off plays.

Well this year Jessie is right with the schedule thats a dumb question. The best Fick could do is probably 8-4 and that is not raise worthy. He hasnt earned what he has made the last two years.......and we are talking raise. If he keeps his job and salary thats enough for this year! I doubt he gets fired after this year because of the buy out. Although anything under 4-8 would have to be probable. Realistically i'm looking at 7-5.

You are making incorrect statements regarding Miami as "evidence of tampering." That's not what stated by Wisconsin. They said, "We have INFORMATION of Miami tampering." That's not evidence. That is hearsay likely made up to scapegoat Miami for Wisconsin's illegal actions of violating the NCAA bylaws of the transfer portal. The silly thing is Wisconsin was ignorant and arrogant. The transfer portal exists for student athletes to put other schools on notice that they wish to transfer. The transfer portal is NOT the mechanism for actually transferring. Student athletes are students first. No athlete can compete in collegiate sports without being a student. The mechanism for transferring to a different school is the same for any student. Wisconsin could not prevent Lucas from transferring even if their agreement was deemed legally binding (it is not). The ONLY thing Wisconsin could get from a binding legal contract is money damages. So,j moving forward, student athletes could still transfer just like any other student. They may be liable for financial damages. That it.
