So its been a couple years since I did a bit of an inventory on the tools I use in my drawing practice. In this video I thought I’d go through them again ~ some are my old faithfuls that have been with me from the beginning; others are new and improved versions of things I’ve used before. I find these videos quite helpful in seeing a bit of an overview of where my practice is at; confirmation on what still works as well as, in some cases, having learnt better methods. Tools play quite a big role in this so I hope its helpful

why does he use watercolor paper for graphite drawings?
@@tino1765it holds the graphite better
Do you use a IPad to draw on or is it a tablet for drawing? What type of laptop do you use and what type of software
Thank you for the list. Appreciated.😊
Jono, Sending you lots of love from India 🇮🇳❤️
Same 👍🏻👍🏻

I’m a pastel artist, I use glassine paper to prevent smudging. You might find this more effective than tissue paper. You should give it ago. 😊
Thank you for the suggestion! 😃
As a watercolor artist I also use glassine to press my works and store them. Acid-free.
Glassine paper is costly than the tissue paper......but I find it more difficult to get acid free tissue paper
I had a super stressful day and your video definitely made the day better! I always enjoy seeing what tools different artists use to maybe try some of them myself. The makeup sponges look super interesting!
I love the smell of Fixitif in the morning. It smells like... Victory!
Watching sketch videos motivates me to finish my art.😇
Been here since the first tool video,
You’ve completed my puberty stage jono, i’m 19 now and i’m glad you didn’t stop making these drawing videos!
I want you to do more drawing tutorials as their is so much to learn for u and for us.
Thanks for your feedback 😁
I have mostly the same tools as you, but the only addition that I have is soft brushes (small round of flat filberts) that I use to add a soft layer of graphite shade of for small detail blending 🙂
Your talent is the most important tool 🤍
Lots of love
The piece in the video is stunning. Thanks for the info.
Milagres acontecem o JONO voltou ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice to see makeup brushes, been using those for years now and it's a genius way to absorb and move around graphite
You're truly inspiring a lot of people
Absolutely soothing to the ear....

Biggest inspiration
this made my day
Apart from Alan Watts.. yours is the voice that can help calm one down ..
As always !!
A fan of your Drawings ..!!
Your video editing style is professional 🤩
Great, you've answered some questions I had. When I was at Art school, I was told that hairspray was good for fixing charcoal (a little different to graphite) . I was wondering how this differs from fixing spray. Principally, it was to 'fix' or avoid smudging post drawing, I guess in a sense that is a way to protect the picture so as to not loose details.
Always dope content
Thanks for this very informative Video!!!
I love your Art😍
Nice video , jono . 👍
Finally!!! Youre awsome!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️lots of love to u,ur creativity,n ur efforts
The time right now in India is 1:12 am and i was just going to sleep and i saw ur video came and the rest everyone knows, i just watched it. That was a great video sir, i really appreciate ur idea of showing what tools u use and what is ur journey instead of just showing ur works and giving tutorials. Ur style of showing a video with the music and all the shots with perfect angle makes it more interesting and inspiring. I also have full respect for ur team that they are helping u so much and giving their best. Sir u don't know how many people u have inspired including me. Hope u can grow more in ur life and career and always remember we all are going to support with our best. Best of luck. Thank u, really enjoyed the video

Glad it was helpful, Kalila!
Your drawing is incomparable ❤️😍💯
It is!!!
Graphite water soluble blocks like Derwent are great for both washes of graphite and then combining with graphite pencils or inks etc..
Wow so beautiful
Lots of love from italy 🇮🇹
Sir, would you ever going to upload a video about like how to start pencil drawing or something related?
Intéressant outils. Bons conseils. Merci
Really informative..Thanku👏
I'm curious as to if you'd recommend a drawing course (whether it's "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" or a class in person or online) or a drawing book (or books) to anyone that is a beginner or looking to improve their drawing skills? Btw, I'm still incredibly impressed by your skill and talent.
If you are a pure beginner, then don’t start directly what he is doing. As a result u will not get good results and quit. You don’t know what you like yet. Try different medium first and then choose what suits you the most. I used to think I love water colour but after using different mediums I know that I’m best at charcoal. And go for a local teacher first. For beginners online will not be a good option and if you did drawing before then you can go for online. And books will make you good mentally but during execution you won’t be able to. As an art student for 12 years I recommend you to go for a local teacher first.
@@shashankashekhardey8786 I used to draw but haven't in years. I feel like a beginner. And I wasn't sure if I needed a class or a book to help me. Thank you so much for your response. I really appreciate it.
Keep inspiring us sir lots of love from India 💐🇮🇳💐...
Information overload but very informative. Thanks 😊
Thank You jono!
Thanx for all the info and tips. Have you ever used anything other than fixative? Like hairspray?😬
Sir love ur video 💖💖💖 sir make video on mistake for beginners like that

They are one of the best concerts, you can not go but just seeing them from the screen, I know it was surprising
💗❤️💌💘
☺️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 That’s cool Jonathan.
Fantastic, thank you Jono :-) I am looking to buy a mechanical pencil that stays sharp. I find my lines are dull and smudgy in the preliminary sketches. I liked the idea of having a mechanical pencil as I don't need to sharpen it, but that is not true of what I use now which is the Faber Castell. What do you recommend, I need neat clear lines at the start. Thanks
Thanks
Please could you explain the function of the oil and solvent? Thanks.
Cool tools.
So awesome, as always. Do you have any advice for cameras to start? I do some drawing videos, but am only using a cellphone. (I did start my drawing videos because of you) (:
Nice work. i really like it .please tell me the link or where from we get this paper
Have you tried working with Artgraf's graphite putty? It's quite dark. They also have tinted graphite, is that interesting for you?
You are amazing bro! I have a question, You don't use any type of hard bristel brush to blur your drawings?
Cooooool broo 🔥❤️🔥
What method do you use to get the drawing on paper before you start shading it in?
You should really trademark those stencils. I’d buy it
I love your videos
Thanks so much for watching! 🙌
how do you sharpen the blade you use to shape the pencils?
Have you tried Faber Castell's Matt Black Pencils ?...great if you don't want the sheen that graphite pencils leave...Thanks For the Video !!!
So do you gesso over your paper when using oil or solvent mixed with graphite?
What is the thickness of your self made, homemade or whatever you've named them, stencils. I'd like to make one of my own. I'm new to hyperrealism style drawing and have been picking up tips, tricks and most useful skills. My interest soared after seeing your Drawing tools 2022 _ Everything I Use video. I like that it's kinda floppy and not stiff. Hoping to hear back from you. Thanks.
Hi bro watching your ......skill superb...... give us lot...... Please continue the magic' s.... I'm the Follower ......all the best thank you
Im looking to have a custom drawing desk made i see you mention your friend made your does he do commissions ?
hello j venomous help, where can I buy the materials you use: leaves and that liquid to preserve the design
You use arches Aquarelle? I have a roll of that for my large watercolors. I never thought to use it for charcoal. In college I did large charcoals. I know I used the wrong paper then and I was plagued with problems reworking but it was the largest paper I could get at the time
I enjoy your art ..you have wonderful wonderful talent.. Or as I would say" Kool"..
I love you so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️
What pencils do you prefer. I always loved Tombow from 4h to 6b, then Derwit for their 9b. I also use a variety of paint brushes for softer blending than the stumps can do in some places.
Love your work, bro.
He uses Faber Castel
To stabalize my hand without smudging my work, I use my "art stave".
It is literally a sick that I attached some cotton and soft fabric at the end. Driftwood works well because the material is so light. Place the soft end on the surface behind the composition, or gently place it on the composition. Then, rest your drawing wrist or forearm on the stave to stabilize. This will keep your hands and arms off your work, and prevent smudging. It has been a life saver for me.
theres some lighter and more comfortable woods out there well depending on you and what not but balsa wood would work best squishy with enough pressure and still strong ish bass woods much stronger and the next lightest wood in the world.
Your 'art stave' is an example of a maul (or mawl, or mahl) stick; been around since 1500's - maybe earlier. Now available commercially, though of course many artists make their own.
@@johnsutherland2361 huh that's petty neat. Learn something new (or old) every day
Great🎨🎨 ❤❤❤
where do you get the large roll for a canvas from?
Which paper roll you are using for your drawings
Nice video.. ❤️
Hi Jono - thanks for the informative video. I would like to know the specifics of the airbrush tool used in the video.
Thanks!
Hey! It's useful for keeping my paper clean and in some circumstances, it can erase graphite to create highlights 🙂
I'm a painting student, i usually paint in a realistic style, but my master doesn't like it, he says it's not art if you paint from photo reference, as the photo itself will be always more lifelike.. i don'tcopy the photos tho I always change thibgs and add things.. similar to what you do with your drawings..
What do you think about digital drawing
is that Codex Seraphinianus in the background? it has been on my creative book list for quite a while.
thanks for the videos, beautiful art and simple suggestions for those working toward perfection.
Yes, it is! 😁
Could you please make a video about how you make the stencils? Thank you.
Hey! I have a step by step video and the template on my Patreon. Here is the link if you are interested www.patreon.com/jonodryart 🙂
Thank u so. Much sir
Just found you on YT and your art work blows me away! I'm curious what wetting the paper does before you start your drawing..?
Hey! This video on my channel explains why I wet my paper in more detail ruclips.net/video/8A3pqKMyILU/видео.html 🙂
@@JonoDry Awesome, thank you!
what was the full name of the codex book in the background i can’t remember the name
Hey jono, can you make a vdo on what are the legal restrictions to sell artwork. And how to sell artworks legally and how to create copyrights and all.
What grit # is the mesh sanding screen you use?
Thank you for this! I am interested in your studio lighting setup under which you work. I struggle at home since having to work mostly at night and my light looks very yellow. Any advice please?!!!
Hey! It might be helpful to look for a white light bulb or a different light source 🙂
What model was the video lighting?
