    As an author i find expired planners are great for story timelines. Especially for series where there are multiple story lines going on at the same time or there's overlapping events. I can keep track of where in the series each story is, make notes on shared events, and hopefully keep myself organized. If I'm working on a series with other authors, using a planner like this can also help me keep track of when their characters are at the same event or interacting somehow with mine.😁

    I saw a video today that shows Office Depot/office max has 2023 happy planners for $3.94 in the clearance section! Big & classic. Some are deluxe with metal discs! I’m going tomorrow!

    I started planning in July of this year. I have always wanted to try but was hesitant to spend so much on a planner I may not use for long. I decided to get a planner that was half expired on clearance instead of a brand new planner that starts in July. I only came to that solution because of creators like you who gave great advice. Now I am happy to say I'm enjoying being apart of the planner community 😊

      Yay so glad to hear that! Definitely those cheap planners are one reason I switched from half letter to classic Happy Planner. I mean, I JUST got an 18 month planner for $8 that still has all of 2024 in it!!! But I am eagerly looking for the 2023 ones to go on final clearance cos I have my eye on a couple of covers lol!

    Got one today that was mostly out dated for a Prayer binder/ War binder set up. Changed covers & added pages for notes & top tab divider added with vision board page from an accessory pack also on clearance.

    My toxic trait is buying an expired planner on sale, and then spending $100 worth of stickers and washi to revamp it 😂

    Great video! I totally agree that buying planners on clearance is worth it for disc, covers, and dividers. I like your idea for memory planning. I wish I could come up with more ideas on repurposing the guts. Like maybe using the monthly page (right side) for book bingo. I have lots of vertical pages & and I would love to see how others repurpose (besides redating).

    I'm a fitness instructor and the big vertical layout is perfect for outlining workouts where each box is a station or circuit. I use it for my own workouts too. I also create a template each week where different boxes are labeled as different muscles and I mark off how many sets I've done that week for that muscle. It really helps my training.

      Thanks for sharing! I've been working in the fitness industry in some shape and fashion for almost 30 years. How long have you been in the industry Kathleen? I think it's just one of the things Reenie and I have in common and talk about a lot. Being fitness instructors, personal trainers and the changes in the industry over the years.
      Funny you should mention the fitness stuff, I have a video outlined for how I'm changing my wellness planner and it involves much of what you talk about. I need something more "fitness-y" lol. I need to get myself back on track fitness wise in Q4!

    Oh yes I pick up expired planners! I will redate them with stamps or stickers. I use them for memory keeping in the classic size. I don’t use the covers because my books are chunky so I break them up into 3 months and just add an acetate sheet to the front/back of jan-Mar, Apr-June, July-sep, oct-Dec. It protects the front and back! Great video! Thank you for sharing! 😍❤️

    I'm a new viewer to your channel. The title of this video intrigued me because I have bought expired planners. I have redated to use for the current year. I've used them for journals and also for scripture writing. I use a coiled planner for my everyday planning but I've gotten Happy Planners for the other uses. I actually bought the same large floral covered HP for the discs and I thought the cover was so pretty. On to check out your playlist!

    I've started using old calendars and planner things for writing. When I need to keep track of a month's worth of events, expired calendars/planners work great for this! Especially since you usually need to do it a couple of times to get the timeline right 😅

    i try to get them on clearance but they have not been on clearance for quite a lot time in Canada. They seem to be marking down now in August or perhaps before. I like to Frankenplan...I don't really buy them at regular price. I also try to use one as a mock planner to upload my weekly spreads to social media. I keep on with all the extra dividers and covers. Received a skinny cover at a meetup on their stash table and use that as a sticker book.

    Any suggestions on when the best times to buy expired planners would be? I thought June would be but now they all are dated from July to next June. Clever of them. Perhaps December?

    • @CreativeKarmaDesign
      @CreativeKarmaDesign  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah there are two major planner releases each year, the regular starting January and the academic starting around July. But they usually release a few months before those dates. So for Jan start you can usually find some bargains around early April, for the mid year around October. Basically if you see a new release "coming soon" it's time to go and check your stores because they'll be cleaning stuff out for the new releases!

  • @butterflies015
    @butterflies015 Год назад +4

    If you are redating one for next keep in mind that next year is a leap year. So some month won't match up with others to switch the months with each other.

    • @CreativeKarmaDesign
      @CreativeKarmaDesign  Год назад +1

      I redate my monthly anyways as I hate the Sunday start. But it's so easy to just shove a sticker over the current date it's not an issue!

    Great ideas! Thanks for sharing. I make my own planners now. I can never find ones I like in Michael’s and ordering from Happy Planner is way you pricey. By the time the exchange and shipping is added on then there is often duty to paid upon delivery it is just not cost effective.

    • @CreativeKarmaDesign
      @CreativeKarmaDesign  Год назад +2

      Yeah Reenie has told me about the duty nightmare before. I will say before we got a Hobby Lobby the cheapest I found old planners was around $12-15. Now I'm waiting for the $4-5 deals! lol!

    I purchase Notebook/Journals from The Happy Planner.. At first I bought a 2 wired planner, I didn't like it, I couldn't move papers, take them out and so on. I gutted it out, cut the sides, punched new holes in them and decorated them and covered up the dates with washi tape. So then, I bought notebooks/journals from HP with the discs. I like how I can put what I want, where I want. JoAnns had undated hp planners on sale with discs. Yay me!! I bought two of them. I am a happy planner happy camper now.

    • @CreativeKarmaDesign
      @CreativeKarmaDesign  Год назад

      Yep I started with wire/coils years ago but didn't like that I couldn't move papers in and out easily. For discs I was using Tul/Arc for years before going Happy Planner. But yep I'm with ya, buy cheap and redate!

      most months have extra boxes depending day the month starts so you can swap when you redate
