My grandfather fought in Korea for two year as a marine. And after studying and doing research about the war and the current state of the country. North Korea is probably if not the worse place to be born on the face of the planet. Just look at orbital photos that show the amount lights in both of the Koreas.

There are over 8 million North Koreans who suffer from hunger, because there is not enough food produced ( while Kim Jong Un is obese ). Its planned economy is suffering from corruption, mismanagement, fear and top down control. This nation cannot even feed its own people, this you don't see in the capital were only the most loyal party members are allowed to live and work. Since you are not free to travel in North Korea, most don't know how bad rural life is!
