I know this is an old video but this is for anyone that has kinked throttle and choke cables that cares about it. The throttle cable, where its getting kinked coming out of the carb, you can fix that by splitting a piece of fuel hose lengthwise and wrapping the cable to help support it. I go a bit beyond and disassemble the throttle slide from carb and slide a piece of intact fuel hose over that area that's prone to kinking. Then zip tie it in place. Might save you a stuck throttle one day. I also do that to the choke cables if they're starting to kink.
Thank you, works like a charm on my 92 Prowler, never knew this sled had that much more juice, had bog issues even after a complete carb rebuild and sync. Did this and she goes like she is brand new again. Thanks from Maine :)
i was hoping you would start it because i wacthed the resto on your sled and seen the homemade can great job ihave the same sled i am working on but its not a mountain cat and theres no motor need to find one.
Dude thanks for the explanation of the throttle related to the wires in the carburetor. This Prowler 440 of my buddies im working on would lose spark if the throttle was not pressed a little bit. if throttle is let off I get no spark. Would this have something to do with the magnets in the carb you talked about?
I bought a old snowmobile motor for a project but I don't know what the wire set up to get to spark so I can get to run so far lose wire come out motor white with red strip green, blue, black and Oregon, and yellow what wire do I need to hook on to get it to run on a gokart ply ty
would you get the same result if you cut the tss wire above the three wire pigtail then spliced it back to the ks wire leading to the common on the pig tail.( the pigtail coming from towards the throttle side not from the harness side)(if that makes sense) i believe the harness side has 4 or 5 wires whereas the bar side has 3. anyway. the reason i ask is i want to update my kill switch to the newer skidoo style switch which happens to be two wires however i need to bypass my tss. in order to make this work. in addition i believe my current problems are relates to the tss. i rebuilt the carbs, new boots, new exhaust gaskets, etc etc sled fired 3rd pull, then first ever since primed during the first start.(have started it a hand full of times since work) after the carb job revved ok and seemed to have response. i then started changing the throttle to a skidoo style throttle(my bars are smaller than normal as I'm a small guy and the bulky ac style throttle assembly was taking up all my room. anyway back to it after the throttle change i fired the sled, it idles great, starts first pull as always. just cuts out if you hit the throttle. the sled will continue to idle if you let go of the throttle before it boggles out. checked choke plungers, checked plugs not the plungers not the plugs. got spark cuz she idles oh so nice. must be the tss. its not a coincidence i believe that the problem arose after the throttle change (i have had the toss switch vacant since the throttle change so) so back to my original question three wires into two ( my machine is violet to the common black for tss and brown for other side of ks connection. will things work out if i splice toss (black) and ks common (violet) above the pig tail and still have full use of ks. SO SO sorry for the massive message
I would try checking with a multi meter, if you can trace it up the harness further either way it should still work, as long as you get it before it splits off to other accessories ...
Ok so I cut the middle cable trying to bypass the tps and now my sled wont start I taped it back toghter still wont start did I jump timing or what do I do please
I have a 1996 Arctic Cat EXT 580 EFI and when I give it more then half throttle it dies and lost spark and then a few days later spark will return. It did this twice now. Will this fix my issue?
Deegan M clean your grounds near the stator or chassis ground. You can still run a machine without the switch plugged it. You'll have your key as a killswitch.

Thank you for showing us how to do this properly man I really appreciate it🔥💯
Thanks a lot, we have a 1998 ZL with no spark because of bad TSS
Thank you so much for this video and I am not familiar with our cats and I had no clue that this thing existed and it fixed my whole entire sled
I bought a 1991 arctic cat prowler 440 and one of the 2 carbs doesn’t even have a switch the one that does the wires are snipped. What do I do??
Good video sir. Going to try that on my 97 thundercat this afternoon
Thank you! This has been bugging me crazy with my ZRT 600 -98.
Thank you for the video this is helped me a lot I appreciate the time and effort
I had the same problem with mine, I just unhooked the wires from the carburetor, never had a problem
Thank you from 2024
that was amazing thanks... I just fixed my ext 530
Thank you! Much safer solution!

Thanks for sharing
Just out of curiosity would I get the same result if I try this on a 94 prowler 440 electric fuel injection ?

Sweet! Thank you!
How can you do something like this on a 2000 600 Powder Special EFI?I have to unplug the kill switch or it dies when you dive into a corner.

Can you just unplug it and forget it or do you gotta bypass it?
Ok so I cut the middle cable trying to bypass the tps and now my sled wont start I taped it back toghter still wont start did I jump timing or what do I do please
Does that work on a 98 zl 500
Does this work with a 99 ZRT800. My machine runs but when push onto the throttle it bogs out and stalls if I hold it. Is that TSS the issue?
U find an answer, yet? I'm dealing with same issue
I have a 1996 Arctic Cat EXT 580 EFI and when I give it more then half throttle it dies and lost spark and then a few days later spark will return. It did this twice now. Will this fix my issue?
I have an issue with the right side not working. Still idles
Will this work with 2001
An even easier way to to pull off the rubber tit on the inside of your throttle lever, no wiring needs to be fooled around with
My kill switch isn't giving me a signal and I have no spark, could that be a faulty kill switch?
