    I use the nitecore TIP SE as my edc flashlight, it replaced my Olight baton S1R2 (Lighter, and better form factor). I am thinking of getting the Olight warrior mini for my bag.

    I may be pressing my luck, but I've been running a 10440 in my I3E for a year or so with no issues. Run time is shorter than with AAA, but it's about three times as bright.

    I've carried the smaller olight for over a year now you can leave on key ring for months without using and still has a charge to use. If I ever lost it 10/10 I'd buy another.

    That USB rechargeable one is so tiny all I can think is that I would need another flashlight to find the tiny one when I drop it in the grass..😂. In all seriousness the tiny one would be a great little light to throw in my top tube bag while bikepacking. I typically bring a headlamp with me but having a tiny light that I could charge off my powerbank would be a great alternative. Ordering!

    The i1R is a good little torch. I bought one in an Amazon's Daily Deal back at the beginning of October after my old faithful Maglite Solitaire crossed into eternal darkness. Haven't had to recharge it yet. It just sits on my keychain and lights up when I need it to light up.

    I have the I3EEOS and it’s been on my keychain for 4 years I think and I love it. I had the other one but gave it away to a friend. Olight has flash sales and they give away the I3EEOS as a promo just got to pay $5 shipping. I also have their M1T Raider for when I need something bigger. The clip on it lets you put it in you pocket. I also found that you can clip it to the bill of your hat and turns into a head lamp. Olight is my go to for lights.

    Hello. I have always edc-ed a flashlight and i don't think i could do without. But never have and never will carry an O-light. Way over priced in my opinion. Equivalent of around $50us for the first one you showed. i have no doubt about the quality though. Anyway sorry to rant, back to the subject. It is so handy to have an edc light, never a day goes by without using it. All the very best.

      Sweet. Yeah I’ve noticed the price of the O-lights seems to fluctuate quite a bit. Before Christmas they tend to be pretty decently priced. All the best to you! 👍

    I have three Olight i1R2 Pro lights on my car key chain, outside of my laptop bag, and attached to my Gerber Prybrid X. One neat extra function I found was to leave the head twisted just slightly in the off position and by simply squeezing the light it acts like a momentary switch. Great for one hand operation.

  • @NuManXplore

    Yup I’ve carried the Olight I3S on my keychain for years and love it. Living in the Arctic, I need a little flashlight A LOT.
    By the way, mine has three different brightness settings, yours doesn’t?

      I could image especially where you live. Even here I need them all the time in the winter months. Mine only does have 2 levels. I think the pro version has 3 as I was looking them up today on Amazon.

    Can only agree, I have started to EDC a small USB rechargeable flashlight on my key chain last 6 moths. Its really really useful just like you say.
    In combination with a prybrid X prybar/utility knife in my coin pocket. Didn't think it would be that useful when I bought them but the have really saved me at home and work many times.

    • @jeremygoertz
      @jeremygoertz  2 года назад

      That’s cool. I’ve often wondered how often I would use a mini pry tool and have never seriously considered getting one. Might have to give one a try👍

    • @Intesanoga

      @@jeremygoertz It probably depend on what type of work you do. I work as an electric engineer in public property management. Its mostly a desk job but some times every week Im out and inspecting on work that have been done or checking up on maintenance often i schools or kindegarden. I have real tools that I can bring but never do because I always think it wont be necessary. And still find myself want to check something in a breaker box or inside a light post or something. The prybar thing works like 70% of the time. Sure a real Letherman is 100 times better but its not so office friendly, we have
      strict knife laws in Sweden.
      You have your own workshop and knife making business and have better tools in arms reach so maybe its not so useful for you.
      But perhaps its fun to try it out to see if it gets used or just collecting dust in the pocket.

    I have been EDC'ing a small flashlight for well over 20yrs, was amazed how much you use it once you have one on you. Wouldn't leave home without one. Started with a streamlight mini stylist and it got lost after 7-8yrs and ended up going to an olight i3T EOS and then a i5T (i think, AA version). I have an iR1, iR2 or i3E on every key chain. Olight used to have some pretty decent deals on their sight. I have well over 2 doz lights, a bunch still in the box after 2yrs. its flippin ridiculous. Their mini right-angle head lamps are excellent also.

    Having a flashlight with me is better than having my glasses with me, because there's less fumbling taking it out and putting it away.

  • @DrStfuFool
    @DrStfuFool 2 года назад +1

    I can’t stand rechargeable only flashlights. When you need it most, and the damn thing is dead; nobody has time to wait for it to charge. Meanwhile, a battery can be replaced in seconds.

    • @thirstyear7
      @thirstyear7 2 года назад +1

      But no buddy has time to wait for you to drive to the store and get another battery. Unless you carry around spare AAs with you, in which case why not just carry a second small flashlight as back up. Its faster to grab the back up flashlight then change out a battery. With everyone and their uncle armed with a phone flashlight they will just use it instead of waiting for someone to change battery. I used to think the same but after ten plus years of EDC using rechargeable they have not let me down.

    • @DrStfuFool
      @DrStfuFool 2 года назад

      @@thirstyear7 I carry a pack of spare batteries (AA and CR123) and a back up flashlight in addition to the issued flashlight I’m required to carry as a part of my job. Working at night means a lot of flashlight use, so its impractical to charge one up when I need it. A phone light isn’t even concentrated or bright enough to be useful.

    • @thirstyear7
      @thirstyear7 2 года назад

      @@DrStfuFool I would defiantly look at using 21700 battery flashlights then. If you have that much heavy use. AA and CR123 just don’t have enough capacity.
      RCR123 =500-800 mAH
      21700 = 5000 mAH
      I live up in Alaska and during the deep winter we only get 3 hours of daylight. And at my old job my main light was a 21700 battery light which lasts 8 hours straight at 300 lumens. And it’s not on for a solid 8 hours so I get more than a days use and top it off at the end of the day.
      I just switch or leapfrog between lights. Ones charging while the other is in use. I have not had to change battery within a days use in years.

    I love all of these.Have you seen the i1R2 Pro? You’re gonna love it!
    I actually think Olight’s forte is their keychain light series.
    Haha for kicks and if you don’t mind potentially blowing out the i3E EOS try a 10440 in there! I blew out one of mine and just threw it out but the next 10440 worked fine. It’s got to be about 300ish lumens! It does get hot after 4/5 minutes but something like that you only need for maybe a minute or two

  • @wingnutbert9685
    @wingnutbert9685 2 года назад

    I've got that AAA one. Got it as a free gift when I bought something else. I really prefer single AAA ones as you can keep one or two spare batt's with you in the car, hiking bag, etc. Swap out and back in business rather then getting stuck with nothing cause it's not charged or you can charge it.
    The small USB one I've considered using as a light on my dogs collar. Keep it plugged in and charged at the door ready to go. Probably need a better attachment then the tin key ring. Dog shaking his head would likely trash the thin ring that comes with. I'm in the woods so I want a bright light on my dog. Most dog lights are dim and only take button cells which they go though like toilet paper.

    I EDC'ed a small flashlight for many years but gave up on it when I realized I have one on my phone. Granted it may not be as convenient to hold in some circumstances as a dedicated flashlight,(you could technically hold a flashlight in your mouth if your hands are full) but since I have set my phone up to activate the flashlight or turn it off with a wave of the phone it's always there when I need it. Especially since I always have a phone on me. If I'm hiking I always carry an additional headlamp in my CamelBak in case I'm out later than anticipated and also carry a solar charger and battery pack in my gear to charge my phone anyway. I also keep some good flashlights in my vehicle to help me change a tire or some in the dark. So that's kind of why I don't normally EDC a small flashlight anymore.

    • @jeremygoertz
      @jeremygoertz  2 года назад

      I hear you. I tried just using my phone but for the life I live I find too often I need both hands for stuff. I’d say half the time I use this a phone wouldn’t work. But, that’s also why I want a flashlight to be as small as possible. I’m not a fan of full pockets. Cheers👍

      @@jeremygoertz speaking of EDC'ing a flashlight, though. I once lost mine, had no idea where it might be. About a month later, I got out of my vehicle to do some trail running with my dog (way out in the middle of nowhere) and look down and happened to find my flashlight just sitting there under some sagebrush and pinyon pines/junipers. Must have lost it on a previous run. Still have it today.
