Yeah those honey golds looked a bit under ripe. But they are probably my favourite mango that I have tried so far. Followed closely by the mahachanoks but they are not super consistent. The asian queen which I also think is choc anon is really nice, but I think the texture is not great and as you said, almost too sweet and the fibre. Awesome video, I do recommend trying honey gold again though, but get one that has a nice aroma even when not fully ripe :) I only buy mangos that have a strong aroma.
That's a good tip, I should definitely smell before buying. I assume that indicates higher sugar content from being tree ripened more. I'll probably just stick to buying off farmers at the markets now. Can't trust the supermarket bought ones. I saw they sell R2E2 as 'crunchy sour' now next to ripe ones at the Asian market. My guess is once the greens don't sell they become ripe R2E2 would be even more bland.
Great review. Carabao Mango, the sweetest variety is from Guimaras, Philippines. It should taste very sweet with a bit of lemony twist in it. I love mangoes and I'd love to try other varieties from other countries.
I do have India in my bucket list, when is the Mango season there? I would like to tour some farms to taste the hundreds of varieties you guys have! So amazing.
Don't need to water everyday, they like a bit of dryness. Prune the lanky branches so they thicken branch out. Stick it in ground if you can and you only need to water once a week for 1st couple months. If it's grafted, make sure you prune off any growth below the graft. Good luck!
Great review thank you mate. The best mango Ive ever tasted is the Lemon Meringue mango also known as the Po Pyu Kalay. Does anyone know where I can find one in SE Qld?
I 2nd Will's comment. Asher is his name at Tropical Planet Nursery located in Kingston Logan. He is the 'Mango man' as he is saved in my phone. Has over 60 varieties and he did have that variety when I was last visited his nursery couple months ago.
@@mytropicalfruitforestlife yes sir we have many super varieties. But iam collecting different varieties mainly polyembryonic category that so iam searching kenningston pride here r2e2 and all available but this variety cant get that so if u have seeds please send me bro 🙏🏻
@@griffinc3263 well I appreciate your input :) If only the sellers would use the correct names then we wouldn't have to 2nd guess like the Rambai / Burmese Grape haha
@@mytropicalfruitforestlife Yeah, fruits that have a large amount of varieties (like mangoes and bananas) are also commonly either mislabelled or not labelled at all. I also agree that Choc-anan/Asian Queen is a very tasty mango and it also apparently fruits in Winter.
@@mytropicalfruitforestlife Yeah, I've heard that. Not sure how it will act in the subtropics but will have to see. Carabao - a very similar mango - is said to be not as prolific as other mangoes here but it should at least fruit
I wish Australia would export some of your KPs and Honey Golds to the Philippines when our mangoes are off season. I've always wanted to try the KP. The Philippine mango industry has a protectionist stance but it just doesn't make sense when Carabao mango season is April-June while Aussie mangoes last from September-March. Hopefully, the recent RCEP free trade deal of which the Philippines and Australia are participants will pave the way for mango trade between the two countries.
I would love go get all kinds of Philippines mangos here. We get a few Thailand mangos in, and I've seen mangos from Mexico. Don't see why we cant get them in.
@@mytropicalfruitforestlife Just like japan, they ban the philipine variety except the dried ones, and other variety because the mango industry there is threatened.

The big chain super markets destroyed fresh fruit in Australia. Their produce managers have no idea absolutely no idea. They think fruit should be the perfect shape and colour and they force farmers to pick fruit super immature so they can ship them and store them but the result is fruit has zero taste abd less and less people want to eat fruit.
Where are you located? Calypso are a more light bright yellow with some red blush, KP are mostly light orange with many having some red blush on them. Definitely will try a riper Honey Gold as a few people have told me they are better then KP's.
But in Australia Market shop picked too early, the mangoes are not yet fully ripe. the mangoes taste not really delicious, sweet and not full flavour example R2E2 mango the biggest fruit can be 600g1kg very very sweetness if you correct out enough i was very lucky i have nearly 600g last year, on your video not even 300g, they are young fruit still . My eating Khiew Sawoey Thai green mango I have a little cry not even flavour yet to young but people here say so yummy if you go eating from your own tree pick on time you say the same I am , sometime mango taste like a water even though popular name on the market
Thanks for a fun video, I’m growing a seed grown from the Piñata Honey Gold & Perfection Pearl Golden Pride.

Philippine Carabao mangoes are the most fragrant and sweetest mango for me. Super tangy when green, but when ripe, it’s super sweet. Best for juices.
Of course filipinos will praise their stuff eventhough its just piece of sh!t!
Glad to find your channel
Thank you, same to you great channel!
Come to India . Just taste 2 mangos . One is MOHINI and other is SARENGA . The tss value is whooping 28 bricks . The sweetest

Sarenga is very rare mango. I purchased 2 plants from one nursery in WB. I am from Karnataka. WB has lot of good and rare variety of mangoes.
Peak mango season runs from May through September in india

Does anyone know where to find 'Kook Lom Krong' & 'Brahm Kai Meu' mango varieties in Australia, or a retailer that would sell them?
Very good information
Honey gold when perfectly ripe is without the best mango. The perfect sweetness and zing. Texture is great too. Shame you couldn’t try a ripe one.
I'll do a follow up video with a ripe one ;)
Have u tried any of the Zill varieties?
Where do you get these mangoes?
Check your local Asian fruit and vegetable shops.

Aussie bush mulch aka rural fines.
