- What makes the Philippine mango one of the sweetest in the world? Chef Martin is in Guimaras in Western Visayas to taste the freshest mangoes in the country and to learn more about their origins. There is a lot of research that still needs to be done in terms of cultivating this golden produce of the Philippines and we are putting in the leg work to discover the answers to our many questions.
This is gonna get a little nerdy, so get ready to dive in as we eat and educate ourselves about the national fruit of the Philippines!

I recently had classmates who were french exchange students and it just so happened that my family received a huge haul of mangoes from my uncle’s farm. I decided to bring them some to have them experience it and when I saw them again, they told me that it was by far the best mango they have tasted.
unfortunately I did not get to taste Guimaras Mangos . Sadly Guimaras not sold on other islands where I was. You should market them in PINOY international airports davao, Cebu, Manila, etc. .
A Portuguese guy once told me way back in 2000, the sweetest mango he've ever had was from the Philippines😍Proud Pinoy here☺️🇵🇭☺️
The mangoes in Guimaras gives more "pulp" than most Philippine mangoes, as it has a thin seed. Makes it more cost-efficient for export. The soil is equally mineral-rich ( people quarry limestone in some parts of the island. The soil is reddish too, especially when it rains). There are traditional ways of harvesting and hastening guimaras mango trees to flower. Thanks for the cool stuff!
I thought I liked mangos, until I went back to the PH with my dad. It was my first trip there, but his first time back after 35 years in the US. The food was amazing, all of it (except the balut, nopenopenope), but what really sticks in my memory is the mangos. I wish Philippine produce was more available in the US. I want to buy fresh dalandan and calamansi, and yes, mangga.
balut tastes like chicken broth it's good
I know that in one memoir on Princess Diana, it is said that she used to order big baskets of Philippine mangoes.
Nakakainspire naman si Ma'am Rebecca. Her gift in growing a business didn't stop in making profits, and she saw an opportunity to help her community as well. Sana lahat ng big corporations can learn a thing or two from her. The LGU is doing their job in preserving the quality of their produce too. Ang ganda at ang galing.
Ang daming yaman ng Pilipinas! I will visit Guimaras soon!
Let us know when you do!
Lived in The Philippines for years and the mango is one of the things I miss the most :o
Thankyou sooooo much Feater!! Maraming2 salamat sa pagpunta at pagfeature ng aming pinagmamalaking Mangga..Proud Guimarasnon here! Ingat ang buong team and Godbless!!
I grew up having the luxury of enjoying Guimaras mangoes especially during summer vacations. We used to sell them, too. Up to date, I have not tasted any mango that has surpassed the quality and sweetness of mangoes from Guimaras. Thank you, FEATR, for featuring Guimaras mangoes. I hope everyone who gets to watch this video also gets the opportunity to taste Guimaras mangoes and come visit Guimaras as well.
Thank you so much for featuring Guimaras Mango, one of the best sweet mangoes in the world,
Proud Guimarasnon here..
Thank you so much to all your team
GOD BLESS!!!
Thank you too!
May mga ibang countries claiming sweetest. Maybe true but if you factor in the shape, color, thickness of the skin, amount of fiber & aroma. I'd think hands down our mangoes 🥭 Trump the competition.
Yes, India claims the Alphonso is the sweetest.
@@lawrencebautista1 Alphonso has a very sharp aroma. It's sweet pero yung flesh nya mas identical sa pico mango. Plus, even when it's ripe it's still firm.
Kahit Alphonso di kayang tapatan ang Ataulfo ng Mexico (which is a descendant of our Carabao cultivar). What makes Guimaras mangoes the best is its exquisite fragrance, ibang iba talaga compared sa ibang cultivar. Plus it's one of the sweetest. Prolly second to Sweet Elena of Zambales.
My Columbian boss claims too that they have the sweetest manggo in the world and so with the avocado.😀
Nothing beats mangoes in the 🇵🇭
Californians get their mangoes from South America. I’d say the Philippine mangoes are better. Dried mangoes from Thailand sold at Trader Joe’s just taste “sugary”. The Philippines should also consider to massively make dried mangoes.
Im an ilonggo and im proud of guimaras 🎉🎉
I absolutely agree with you, I went to Jordan, Guimaras to really check and see by myself how, where it planted …I’ve noticed that the elevation helps a lot in creating the sweetness and the quality of the mangoes.
The condition and its nearby landscape is suitable to its growth…
Lastly, the type of soil since its an island and surrounded by sea water it makes the soil porous which is more adaptable to its growth.
Love your content… Thank you.
Unforgettable Mae
I don't eat any other mangoes if it's not from the Philippines and from Panay. I love it the sweet and sour taste not too ripe. Man I miss eat all you can during manggahan festival. 😋
Don't forget the paho and mangga wani. While not from the same species as true mangoes, they are nonetheless also common and native. A cherished childhood memory of mine is throwing sticks up at very tall paho mango trees, boomerang style, aiming at fruit clusters. Then scrabbling to get the fruits that fall. Unlike true mangoes, they have tougher skin and ripen while still green, so they can withstand even falling from like 30 feet.
I remember when I was child my lola would buy tons of guimaras Mango in Iloilo , and till this day my taste memory is still there and nothing comes close to the texture and sweetness of guimaras compare to other countries .
💯
We had this project in advertising arts where each student in my class had to create a vector art off color print based off different fiestas in the PH and I got this one! Really fun reaserching and editing.
I was in Guimaras just yesterday and i was going to visit the Mango farms but it would have been too muddy because it had been raining... the people there are so super friendly and helpful very warm and welcoming too!!! I'll definitely be going back there next time to check out the island properly next time ❤
Thanks FEATR Team for featuring Tul-tul & our Mangoes 😊
The Best and Greatest mango all over the world is Philippine Mango. I absolutely observe and taste that. I taste all Indian Mangos, Thailand Mangos, Egyptian Mangos, Mexican Mangos but Philippines Mangos are different and taste taste to others Mangos all over the world. Love here from Kuwait. Well-written episode!! So happy to see Guimaras being FEATRed! :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
More than the Guimaras Mangoes feature, really appreciate how you guys were also able to include short discussions on climate change and intellectual property/geographical indications. Keep up the great work that you guys are doing!
YAY! NEW VLOG! THANK YOU FOR THIS FEATR! ALWAYS WAITING FOR YOUR VIDEOS!!!❤🎉😮😮 THE BEST! KUDOS TO THE WHOLE TEAM!!!!

Thank you FEATR for scoping our products, main stream media untapped resource and etc. These are the content that we need to talk about, focus on & ones that needs to go viral as this will potentially increase our country's GDP.
Wow... This is wonderful! I like mango so much
Nothing beats the sweetness of Guimaras mangoes. I miss my hometown
*Haha, you have not tasted a Zambales mango yet.*
I live in South Florida, and I have quite a few varieties of Mangos from different regions predominantly from India.
My most favorite is a Philippines variety *Nom Doc Mai*!
I'm from Guimaras and my lolo is a mango grower/farmer, kaya nakaka proud lng 😭
*You have not tasted the Zambales mangoes, have you?*
Guimaras Island, added to my bucket lists but only when it is mangoes 🥭 season 🥭🥭🇵🇭🍀
I remembered my dad once tried to incorporate mango puree with dinuguan 🥰
Living just a small ferry away from this island. I miss it so much as I am now in Canada for the past 13 years
The timeline of the release of this feature is not inline with the peak season for Guimaras Mango. You might be confusing people to visit the place now. I believe this was taken around Apr-May.
I love Mango shakes only in the PHILIPPINES!!!! LETS GO TO PHILIPPINES!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Unfortunately, the carabao mango (which includes super galilia and sweet elena) is not a perfect variety, due to its number of pests and diseases. It might take decades and trial and error dahil selective breeding ang gagawin. I really wish na meron na gumagawa nito ngayon, kahit sa UPLB man lang. The government does not seem to see the urgency of this problem na nanganganib ang mango industry naten ngayon. Time is running out. Sa Australia, meron silang tatlong bagong varieties na wala pang pangalan, more than 20 years nila dinevelop, that are set to replace their main varieties the Kensington Pride and R2E2.
Done subscription sir🇵🇭Watching from Al khobar KSA but i am a local from Butuan City CARAGA
We went to Guimaras just this month of Sept, we tried their Mangoes and its like 500 pesos per kilo! And juat found out reject pala yun hahaha
My father is from Guimaras.❤❤
Mango that’s closest to common Philippine mangoes is the Thai honey mango (I mean the common Philippine mango not Guimaras mango. The latter is incomparable.) Almost similar texture and taste. That’s the mango commonly sold in Singapore. Reason is longer shelf life and cheaper while Philippine mango shorter shelf life plus more expensive.
I buy mangoes to eat it immediately and not to store it.
Yeah as in Legit talaga na napakasherep ng Mangga jan sa Guimaras. Like super sweet, nag-aagawan pa kami during our Area C Assembly 2014 siguro yun 😊 (Architecture Stuff) 😂
Ang galing galing mo Neng Bec. Congratulations 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ilove Guimaras island sweetest Mango 😍🥭 ever my home province
nothing like Philippine mango periodt.❤
I hope you can also feature coconut.
True!! I the best quality mangoes for me is the Guimaras Mangoes! Super love it
The best!
Try mangoes from Leon, Iloilo.
Compare the taste with other mangoes. Leon mangoes is the best ever👍
Philippine Carabao Mango is not just the sweetest, it has that right amount of exotic tangy sweet taste.
The best. Also, Im so earlyyyy HAHAHAHA
Oh look, an Erwan cameo. Oh wait....
Also, I think another lesser known variety would be the Pajo.
Yes. Pahutan in our province
Guimaras mangoes certainly are the best! 😊
Zambales was rated the sweetest mango in the world.. by Guinness book of world records 1995 with sweet elena from masinloc zambales..
I miss our Phil mango…..we have an American friend who went to Palawan and told me the best mango i The world is our Phil mango…he said he really pigged eating the mangos..
It would normally take more than a week just to harvest it all. Back then tiklis pa yung lalagyan, made from bamboo. We'd spend our whole vacation as kids playing and eating mango from breakfast to dinner due to the volume of the harvest back then, just like what sir said wat back 2000's. Unfortunately, naubos na yung plantation dahil sa dami ng bagyo na dumaan, and also due to the volatility of our climate rn. These days, almost all of our mango farms are now replaced by mostly Calamansi plantations.
lol what a 'cameo' 3:27 😂
cute naman ni chef
where to buy that merch?
Walang tatalo Guimaras mangoes!!
If only the government actually does something about this for improvement and not for confidential funds 😂
380/kg in Guimaras! whoa!!
Katchamita? That’s a nice name for a mango.
❤
Zambales mango are sweet too....
I need Himsagar Representation.
Im not sure if Ive tasted Guimaras mangoes. I have yet to try. Sa mga mangoes na natikman ko yung from Pakistan so far was the best kase yung size nya is twice the size of our average mangoes, golden yung color, super sweet and di rin fibrous masyado.
Personally like Leon mangoes more. As someone with a heavy sweet tooth, they are by far the sweetest.
😋😋😋🥭🥭🥭
Have you tried mangoes from Leon, Iloilo?

Can we easily find Guimaras mangoes in Iloilo fruit stands??
Sadly no po. Yung ibang vendor po kine-claim na Guimaras mangoes Yun pero not all po. Better talaga if here sa Guimaras bibili.

@@Jessica-zt7ohit's best to go to Guimaras itself, it's just a 15 mins boat ride from Iloilo City if you want grafted seedlings you can go to BPI Guimaras (the one featured in the video) for free seedlings.
They don't have Guimaras mangoes in iloilo airport.
@@Jessica-zt7ohyou cannot find it easily in Iloilo although a lot of fruit vendors claim that it’s Guimaras Mango. Best option is to buy directly from someone who’s from or lives in Guimaras. You cannot bring in any mango seeds or mango saplings coming from other places outside the island, it’s prohibited in order to maintain the quality of the mangoes growing in the island and also to avoid infecting the trees and fruits from diseases which could possibly come from other mango plants and fruits which were not cultivated in the island. It’s only a few minutes ride from the city of Iloilo and definitely worth the visit. Guimaras also boasts its white sand beaches and some marine sanctuaries.

Manggoes from Zambales is not consistent in its taste. May matamis and may maasim but Guimaras manggoes is very sweet basta tama sa number of days. I have tasted manggoes from Luzon but Guimaras manggoes are far more sweeter and jelly like ang consistency.

Sweetness of fruits are linked to lime and minerals of the soils. Guimaras is rich in limestone. The sweetest grapes are from Afganistan and Greece...... countries with a lot of lime in soils. Just an opinion.
Guimaras mangoes are the best in the world
Some say they have the sweetest mango, but those mangoes, they can cost you an arm and a leg. Meanwhile our Philippine Mango are not just arguably sweeter, they are also far more sustainable and abundant. Even if we give their claim any credence its like theirs is 10, while ours is 9.9 is sweetness. Ours still win.
The sweetest mango in the world is called manga wani a native mango found here in mindanao.. small with many fibers in its flesh. Try it its 3x sweeter than any mangoes you tried.. but youll end up with dirty mouth or tshirt because you cant just stop .. have you tried it?
