Hi Gary. Thank you so much that was such an incredibly helpful video. Thanks for teaching me how to remove my work easily and pull the threads though to the back. That was something I didn't know. 🙂
I have watched the video a few times and I don't understand what happens to the top stitches. The video shows Gary leaving a tail on the front of the fabric when he cuts the needle threads, but then they disappear. Any tips?

Hi, I need something easy and not intimidating, trying to decide between this machine and the janome 900... any advise? i am brand new to coverstitch... i have a singer professional 5 and i cant figure it out
Both the Juki MCS-1500N and Janome 900 have their own strengths. The Janome 900 is known for simplicity and ease of use, which can be great for beginners. The Juki MCS-1500N, on the other hand, offers more speed and stability, which some users find helpful for professional-looking results. Consider factors like brand reputation, price, and video support.
Hello! I am having trouble with my left most needle (yellow). It skips many stitches and it almost seems like the looper just won't grab the needle thread. I've double checked the threading, put in fresh needles, and it still struggles, particularly when it goes over thicker parts (such as side seams when sewing a hem) and it just skips many (4+ ) stitches. Do you have an idea what could be the issue? Thank you!
@michiko8395 Check you are using the correct type of needles and if using a four way stretch fabric or super stretchy fabric, use Super Stretch needles: www.echidnasewing.com.au/schmetz-super-stretch-needles If using a polyester thread, try using rasant (a poly core thread) as this reduces friction between the thread and fabric. If you are still having issues, if you are in Australia you can call us on 1800 000 360 and we can try and help you over the phone.
Hi Martha, thank you for your feedback. This is a commercial grade binding attachment including mounting hardware provides a 10mm clean finished double fold bound edge using a 36mm fabric strip or bias binding tape. Which means it only does one size. Hope this clarifies it for you.
Thank you so much for this excellent clear video. I bought this coverstich machine in October 2020 and I love it so much, you have confirmed I made the best choice and the engineering behind it. I don't know if it is my imagination and that a machine can really be so sensitive but the looper seems to go really tight on the tension and really hard to pull through and out at the end on some reels of thread though they look the same as my others to me. But as I havent changed the looper tension dial and I check the threading is correct several times, I can only think it doesnt like the thread. Have you come across this? Thank you
Hi Lid - if all of a sudden and the thread is pulling tight it can be the way the thread is coming off the reel, it is not uncommon for the thread to be wound tighter towards the end of the cone. You could lighten the tension off towards the end of the reel will alleviate this!
I’ve been a SewTech for decades. I watched 2 or 3 before this and thought I had tuned into the twilight zone. (That old!?). This was the only one that made any sense. 😂

Thanks for the video! On this machine can you take out two needles leaving the center one to do a single needle chain stitch ? Also can you take out the center needle to do a two needle coverstitch ? How does this machine handle bulky fabrics or is it meant for more lightweight knits?
Thank you for your feedback. Yes you can do the chain stitch on this machine and it can handle different weight fabrics. Yes you can do a two needle coverstitch as well. :)

Hi Colleen, the Juki MCS-1500N doesn't require you to oil it. We suggest you have the machine serviced every 12 -18 months. The machine will be lubricated during this service.
Why don't domestic coverstitch machines seem to have much room on the right of needles? The seem great for hemming but to coverstitch a whole side seam on a t shirt looks to be either difficult or not possible? Many also don't have the ability to put a sleeve hole over the bottom like on a sewing machine. Doesn't this make it difficult to do sleeve hems?
@benandmichelledotnet Yes it doesn seem to be a design feature they could improve on but it would have to do with the size and features of the machine as well as costing. It wil be a matter of maneouvring the fabric to stitch where you need it to. It would be an adjustment as you are feeding the garment being sewn through the machine.
