What is the best film in the franchise? Should we continue to 3 and 4??
Yes please, continue! All four films are great!
YES!
Every Richard Donner movie is worth watching.
You should definitely see it through
This one is the best. Yes all 4 are good. The 3rd is probably the weakest but still good.
Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 are well worth watching too.
3,4 are my favorite of the lethal series which is probably a 1st for any franchise lol
@@ChefNourhan I like 3 a lot, there's a lot of humour in it.
@@ChefNourhan they are all Great but the Fourth one is definitely the weaker one
@@mikebarratt6767 It was meant mostly as a wrap-up. It's not a bad movie, but does feel like it's missing some of the "style". Doesn't drop off nearly as hard as Die Hard did.
In 3, you REALLY get to see Riggs go CRAZY.
"Diplomatic immunity!"
"It's just been revoked." Honestly might be my favorite line in the entire series.
The "dekaffirnated" line was my fav.
It always makes me laugh when the blond bad guy say, when the boss says. ''What are you doing?'' He's glancing down and says. ''Just checking there's no plastic on the floor.'' When he fudges up! I love all 4 Lethal Weapon films. It is a franchise that totally holds up imho.
The whole franchise of lethal weapon are seriously the best. Two more to go. Great reaction
"Why is Riggs in a straightjacket?"
The real question after understanding the situation is, "How the FUCK does Riggs have the know-how to escape from said straightjacket?"
The thing to remember is that, at this time, South Africa was essentially a pariah state due to their apartheid policies. So, due to international trade embargoes, kugerands weren't allowed to be bought or sold in the US. For some very good movies about the period, I'd recommend Cry Freedom, and the more recent Invictus.
Not true.. actually many of the issues came about because South Africa was started by White people, and Zulu massacred them because of their race, and they actually were just defending themselves from another attack.. and look at South Africa now? Racist murders daily..
District 9 is way more historically accurate then those films.
Leo is one of my favorite comedy reliefs. And you have to watch all 4. If you don't it's like watching fellowship and half of two towers and not the rest of the series. It's one long beautiful story.
They realize pretty early on that what sets the series apart are the characters. So, each movie they add more characters, and do it in a way that you actually like and care about the characters.
LW3 is loads of fun, while LW4 has been described as a love letter to the fans. I definitely recommend both.
I love that when Mythbusters tested the bomb/nitrogen thing, it turned out it was WAY more effective than the movie claimed - literally gained 15 minutes.
"In extreme cases, if a diplomat commits a serious crime, a host country may ask for a waiver from the official's home nation. This happened in 1997 when Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Georgia, Gueorgui Makharadze, committed vehicular manslaughter. Though initially released because of diplomatic immunity, Georgia waived his immunity for a criminal case to proceed. After Makharadze was tried and served out his sentence in the United States, he returned to Georgia where he served additional jail time.
Diplomatic immunity gives agents of foreign governments broad latitude in carrying out the necessary functions of state business. But as the Khobragade case and others show, diplomats are placed under a close microscope when they fall out of favor with local authorities, and their actions can draw anger and embarrassment of an entire nation looking on."
.... so in theory, no a diplomat cannot just go out and commit crime. The immunity only protects them so far as it pertains to their jobs. BUT if a diplomat, like the main villain in this show, has powerful enough connections, they may expect to be initially released from holding because of the Diplomatic Status, and try and fight it behind the scenes politically. The US can always choose to just deport and ban them in either case.
The 'ask for permission' is where I have a problem. A diplomat can commit crimes and not face any penalty - the other country doesn't have to grant permission.
@@xejelah They would be asking permission from the foreign country to prosecute the diplomat for the crimes, it's not the diplomat asking permission to commit the crimes...
@@GRIZZLYSGEAR true, but a country could still refuse the request and, given the state of Apartheid Era South Africa, I reckon they would.
Yep its very much a case by case situation. As in the case above the country allowed him to be prosecuted and carried out further penalties afterwards but I do recall one case of a diplomat murdering his wife and walking away with no repurcussions. Honestly the crime is pretty much meaningless what's important is the relationship of the countries. A country that wants to maintain good relations is far more likely to grant permission for the immunity to be revoked and likewise a country especially these day's needs to be aware of how its viewed by other countries as they can face sanctions and other fallout if they don't give permission. In the case of the film yes especially with the limited evidence something probably wouldn't happen at least initially. Its just the claims of 2 cops vs the word of a respected diplomat. Now if they could prove his links to crime then south Afrika would almost certainly allow him to be prosecuted given the power of America on the worldstage and a desire to maintain good relations with them.
For lesser crimes its more likely a diplomat will just be quietly recalled and another appointed to replace them. For major ones like murder or manslaughter there need to be strong external factors to convince the country not to take action even if its a recall and internal trial rather than letting them be tried by the country where the crime took place. Multiple murders of police even if there wasn't evidence would get him recalled given the link in timing.
At the time also no south African govt under apartheid would EVER have given permission
Gotta watch 'em all - these movies are cult! And every single one is great, developing the characters further every time.
Ok great!!!
@@whitenoisereacts - Yes, 100% like I mentioned above, there is probably not a series of movies that every single one is awesome more so than this, there literally ISN'T a bad Lethal Weapon movie. But they DO keep getting better, not that they were less good before, but better in that you learn more, and see more growth each time. Is a No-Brainer.
If you enjoyed previous two movies, then continue watching Lethal Weapon 3 and 4. Part 4 is stronger, funnier and has bigger budget, but Part 3 is good too.
Y’all definitely need to watch my cousin Vinny
One of the best Joe Pesci movies
In my opinion
Not even a mob movie
Just an all around awesome movie
Joe Pesci went from Lethal Weapon 2 to Goodfellas to Home Alone. All memorable characters
Ok ok ok
Then My Cousin Vinny
I saw this before I saw Goodfellas, so I always saw Pesci as Leo, so I couldn't take him seriously in Goodfellas lol
Saw Raging Bull before all of them and he was great in it and Goodfellas and Casino
This is my personal favorite of the 4 - it's very quotable, and the set piece where he pulls down the house is iconic (and was blatantly copied in GTA V). We literally wore out the VHS of it when I was in high school. 3 and 4 are both totally worth your while, as well. Joe Pesci returns, and I'll say no more.
It's my fave as well. The Good Guys need really bad Bad Guys to shine in these movies, and LW2 has the most ultra baddies of the 4 films.
Keep going, you guys will definitely enjoy the next 2…..Great reaction as always 😀
Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 are worth watching. All these movies are well written, and they keep adding to the character development of Riggs and Murtaugh.
Guys im recomending you movie L.A. Confidential with Russel Crowe its one of the best crime/drama I ever watched
Yes!! What a great underrated film that is. It doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Soooo good 👍
Agree. One of the best movies ever made and my favorite 😊
you have to admit that the wife is an amazing woman if you think about it. she didn't went ballistic for turning her station wagon into a police pursuit vehicle and all the crazy stuff that has happened in their house. she's the ideal wife, a saint.
I think she might’ve experienced something during the early part of their marriage but now she just got used to it at least that’s what I think 😅
@@mohammedashian8094 but both of them came to an understanding and that's even a rare thing especially with most couples today.
There is a show called Mythbusters. They test all kinds of things like if a ceiling fan could chop off your head or is it possible to jump through a window unharmed, they also tested a few Breaking Bad, Star Wars, Indiana Jones moments. They also tested this bomb scene. They tested to see if freezing the C4 explosive would delay it and they tested to see if a cast iron bathtub and a bomb blanket would keep you safe.
Spoilers. The liquid Nitrogen had no effect on the C4. But the tub... Well they showed that being in a bath tub would save your life. It would probably leave you deaf or at the very least some hearing damage. But the tub would save your life.
But, they didn't use it on the C4 - they used it on the pressure trigger for a second or two delay after he picked his ass up.
If I remember the episode correctly, the nitrogen was extremely effective on the trigger, in which it delayed the detonation so long, they could have literally just got up walked out of the house. But yes, getting saved by the tub was confirmed. I loved that show.
Gotta see 4.
Two words
Jet Li
👍
Diplomatic immunity is a real thing.
Members of an embassy are exempt from police investigation or prosecution if they commit a crime, and can avoid the need to defend themselves in a civil case.
My friends dad was a chauffeur for diplomats, on a few occasions he'd drop us outside a club in a limo with diplomatic plates.
Yeah, basically the only thing you can do is have the State Department (I think) call the other country and tell them their diplomat is a persona non grata and they should get him out of your country ... of course you would expect that to have diplomatic repercussions and the diplomat to get in trouble back home, but ...
Diplomatic immunity only applies to traffic law, you can get out of a parking ticket. But if they commit an actual crime they are subject to the laws and punishment of the courts. Diplomats get arrested all the time.
@@kevinwilson140 False, it does not apply only to traffic tickets. Diplomatic immunity can apply to almost any crime including murder.
@@paulonius42 key word is can and yeah there are a handful of examples where the home country wasn't willing to wave the immunity. But most of the time they aren't going to put their relationship on the line over some diplomat. Even if the police have to release them at the time , it's not like they get off Scott free. The state department would be right there to pick them up from the cops. Parking violations are about the only thing that gets a pass.
@@kevinwilson140 Well, yeah, but like you're saying: The other country needs to waive the immunity. By default, there is immunity.
You need to watch all four films. They are all great. And they’re making a fifth one to be released at some time in the future.
You guys have to check out 1984's Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy as well.
"Is this Die Hard?" God, I wish, I'd LOVE to see John McClane team up with Martin Riggs, they would be a dynamite duo, but I don't think Roger Murtaugh would be able to handle working with two cops with the "yippe-ki-yay" mentality
They coulda taken out the Taliban in one trip.
I love when it's personal because kung-fu turns into the mythical art of beat their a** style 😁
Please watch STAR TREK! 🖖
Agreed!!
the female cop who got blown up diving in the pool is Vasquez from Aliens.
the poker cop who got blown up opening the fridge is uncle hank from Breaking Bad
- She is also John Connors adopted mother from Terminator 2
@@Arthaius yup.
As I said last week, Lethal Weapon is my favorite action movie franchise, and I’m very much enjoying these reactions so far (that said, I like always enjoy your content anyways ;)) I’m hoping you will continue with the final two parts as well, as they are simply just as enjoyable. Oh…and if you do manage to continue with part 3: know that there is an after credits scene even though it’s not a Marvel movie (lol). Keep up the great work you guys! 😊
It just keeps evolving. What both characters go through in the entire series is phenomenal. Keep it coming fellas…. 3 use to be my favorite as a kid. 4 is amazing!
Heya from France....love your movie reaction and commentary :)...please do continue the franchise as all 4 movies are great :)
"Is he dead?" You mean the guy whose head was torn off by a flying surfboard? Yeah, kids, I think he's dead. Clue? HIS HEAD WAS REMOVED BY A SURFBOARD.
To be a true Lethal Weapon fan...watch them all !...
The saga continues..👍😉...🌿🌿🌿
Lethal Weapon is one of those rare series where every movie is great.
Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 are worth a watch. I grew up watching these films. Nostalgic asf.
Imaginated in 90's watch this jewel when You was child. You in 2022 love itttt. Now every movie with Cgi, movies and movies with superheros and You love it. Imaginated watch awesome saga when You are a kid....
I tried write fine in english.
You really have to watch all 4!
Wow! Sorry I was late here .... was not feeling well . I really enjoyed your reactions and comments for "Lethal Weapon 2".... this cheered me up a lot . Lethal Weapon 2 is one of my favorite movie sequels of all.... I was very upset that Martin's wife and later his girlfriend were murdered by that same criminal.... he deserved worse than what he got but I was a little relived to see him go . Joe Pesci as Leo was icing on the cake for me and you both added so much to appreciate in your reactions here . This one is another one from your channel that is going into my favorites list. Thank you both so much for cheering me up .
28:17 - Leo is so sweet, jumping there, wanting to check on the boys!
You need to watch all 4! They are all great!
As good as it gets would be a good movie to react too
Actually that's EXACTLY how diplomatic immunity works
please do the rest of the franchise, it's the best. Opening scenes in the next 2 movies are insane you don't wanna miss it + a very sweet grand final!
The music for the Lethal Weapon movies was written by Michael Kamen who famously also wrote the music for Die Hard, and the HBO series Band of Brothers. The saxophone was performed by a famous jazz musician named David Sanborn, and the guitar is by Eric Clapton. In the 1960s Clapton was with the band's Cream and Blind Faith, by the 1980s he had a very successful solo career. Rolling Stone magazine named him the second greatest guitarist of all time.
The language they were speaking is Afrikaans it's what we speak in south Africa it derives from dutch, also half of this movies was filmed in south Africa and the white main villain and riggs love interest is south African
cool. My cousin went school in South Africa and learned a little Afrikaans too.
32:28 You're right on point man, he's burned any chance of using her as a witness, and made anything she gives them called into questions. No fraternizing with the witnesses Riggs!
47:40 "it's just been Revoked"
"We're back! We're bad, your black, I'm mad" love that line 😅
This is a good sequel I have all 4 films on DVD rumor has it that they been planning on a fifth film since 2008 but still hasn't happened
Personally I liked the fourth movie the best. But when you're done, don't forget to watch Loaded Weapon 1... it's hilarious.
Not sure if yall know this, the ending shot is of the Vincent Thomas bridge and the L.A. harbor area. The bridge connects Long Beach to San Pedro. I grew up in San Pedro. They've filmed in that area going all the way back to the 60s. You might remember the area from Gone In 60 Seconds, or The Fast And The Furious, or Terminator 2, or old re-runs of The Love Boat. Every episode opened with areal views of the harbor. In 2012, director Tony Scott took his own life by jumping from the Vincent Thomas bridge.
17:49 Don't wish too hard..,those things are a genuine pain. they jam up every 40-50 seconds or so...you REALLY feel like it's faster to count by hand.
This was the first Lethal Weapon movie I watched on TV, think it was on NBC
This movie gives people their distorted understanding of what diplomatic immunity is about. Diplomatic immunity allows you to park your vehicle in a no parking zone, and might get you out of a speeding ticket. THAT'S IT! Anything else that the diplomat does is subject to the laws of the land. Diplomatic immunity means meter-maids can't touch you, that's all.
Joe Pesci best movie's lethal Weapon Goodfellas and Home alone he ruled from 89-90
The super hot blonde haunted my dreams for many years after watching this movie.
My favourite one. Nice plot, Joe Pesci, Patsy Kensit and Roger and Martin after having developed their relationship.
Regarding diplomatic immunity you should look up the death of Harry Dunn, who was killed in a road collision by the wife of a CIA agent stationed in the UK. Anne Sacoolas claimed diplomatic immunity, fled the UK and the US has refused to extradite her even though she has admitted the death was her fault. Harry Dunn was only 19 years old. :(
I’m glad this is getting mentioned. The Dunn family deserve justice.
Of Spike Milligan has taught me anything, it's that "Diplomatic immunity means I cannot be arrested, sued, disfranchised, blackballed, guillotined, run out, left in bulk, charged, hung drawn and quartered or needle-nardle-noo!"
You really should watch all of them. The third and fourth are awesome!
Supreme sequel.
Big step up of the good stuff from LW1.
Joe Pesci is without a doubt, one of the greatest versatile actors ever and as Leo Getz, this is his funniest role.
Michael Kamen's score with Dave Koz on saxophone and rock legend Eric Clapton on guitar is still a great collab.
These first 2 films do solidify an important arc of the franchise.
Riggs & Murtaugh with their bond as friends and cops is unquestionable.
As it is a lifelong team effort.
Btw, in an alternate ending.......
Rika (Patsy Kensit), Riggs' love interest actually lived.
Anyone notice that the tearing the stilt house down scene from this movie was re-done in homage in GTA 5?
The quality doesn’t tail off- watch all of them!
Would absolutely love to see you guys react to the Dirty Harry movies starring Clint Eastwood. You would love them!
Yes! along with Steve McQueen in "Bullitt".
Definitely watch the other 2- the way 4 wraps up is absolutely perfect IMO
They didn’t worry about protecting the family with them at her sisters house. Gotta remember you couldn’t just google someones address and possible relatives back then. Think of it this way, we’d only had the 911 emergency line in California for 5 years at the time of this movie came out. And first responders didn’t have GPS to get to you. It’s like stone ages man. I wonder how I survived…. Especially considering how many times I wrecked in my friends 3-wheeler, illegal now, really unsafe.
Love the lethal weapon movies can't wait alot to watch and alot of bbq ribs to eat tonight lol
Riggs Did His Thing ,🔥🔥🔥
Speaking of Diplomatic Immunity, that's one of the things that Dr. Doom uses all the time. After him fighting against the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, he calls Captain America to escort him to his embassy. That's why I loved Dr. Doom as a villain.
Definitely watch 3 and 4, especially 4 jet li in it
Lol, I loved how you guys were trying to figure out the accent! Australian, New Zealand and South African accents get mixed up by people all the time. I am Australian, so I tend to find it easy to figure out.
Lethal Weapon is such a great series and Joe Pesci just adds to the entertainment. The writers are amazing with how they introduce new characters. The next two are even better. Can’t wait for the 5th one to come out. Mel Gibson is directing it cause Richard Donner passed away recently and asked Mel if he died to take the reins of the movie. You can do quite a bit with diplomatic immunity. If a person with immunity does any violent crimes you have to get the consulate to revoke their immunity or deport them.
Watching all four is important.. it finishes amazingly.
Definitely do three and four, especially now that you know that the Sax represents Murtaugh and the Guitar represents Riggs.
also pay respects to Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton for the soundtrack and George Harrison's superb Cheer Down song for the end credits. Sting also does the opening song for 3rd film.
Can tell you guys loved the first one with how fast you got to this one:) I'm curious to see if you agree that this one is better than the first. All the lethal weapon movies are good. Mel is making the 5th one currently
I think you guys should watch Letal Weapon 3 and 4 too. Those are really good too😊🔥
Now y'all gotta do NATIONAL LAMPOON LOADED WEAPON 1 😂😂😂😂👍💯
Lethal Weapon 3 is great, and introduces a great new character. Lethal Weapon 4 is just so fun and satisfying. And it also has one awesome moment where Murtaugh really becomes the lethal weapon.
Great sequel
This is my favorite of the franchise. Not only that, but it's also the favorite of actors Mel Gibson & Danny Glover, as well as director Richard Donner.
I really hope you watch the rest. They tie up the whole overall story in a very satisfying way.
I recommend watching the next two. More fun quirky action and cool new character introductions, more of Murtaghs and Riggs development, especially Riggs, more epic Leo rants, and it closes out the series beautifully
Watch all 4. They’re all solid. Seriously this is one of the best series films made bc all of the sequels are good watches.
In the original script, Riggs was supposed to die at the end, which would've made the movie truly memorable, but part of me is glad they changed the ending.
This movie is my favorite of the four movies. I love that this movie shows the problem with Diplomatic Immunity.
There's no such thing as a bad Lethal Weapon film.
- Facts.
I LOVE Lethal Weapon 3 & 4 as much as the first two. :)
I still, even after all this time, have a little giggle at Mels American accent. There are several spots where it slips a little and the Aussie shows through.... btw, have you guys watched Mad Max 1-3 yet? Not the dubbed version but the original? Well worth it.
The language they were speaking is Afrikaans it's what we speak in south Africa it derives from dutch, also half of this movies was filmed in south Africa and the white main villain and riggs love interest is south African
@@GameOn71213 That's not what she's talking about, Chantall. Mel Gibson is an Australia born actor so when he does these films he has to do them with an American accent. Occasionally his ozzie accent comes through anyway. That's what she's saying - that it's funny when he says some of his lines with an Australian instead of American accent.
I haven't noticed his Aussie accent in any of his American films. I know his parents are Australian but I think he grew up in America, hence he lost his Aussie accent.
Please React R2B a korean film that is like TOP GUN. Excelente movie. So good efects.
In the US you cannot be arrested or detained if you are a diplomatic agent, member of diplomatic administrative or technical staff, or diplomatic level staff of a mission to an international organization. Other levels of diplomat, such as consular officers, may be detained in the case of a felony. What's supposed to happen is that the breaking of any law, including murder, is reported to the home country of the official, and it is up to them to punish or not. If this sounds crazy, look it up, and the many international cases supporting this tradition.
what if the ambassador is from a Rogue nation like North Korea? Does diplomatic immunity still apply?
@@theawesomeman9821 I don't think it makes any difference. Basically, countries aren't going to send diplomats in the first place if they aren't fully protected.
@@theawesomeman9821 Ambassadorial protections are among the most complete.
I actually just read a story of an African diplomat who was accused of raping a woman in NY. They couldn’t detain him and he left country shortly after.
"There's no way he's THAT protected!"
No, you are correct, we are suspending disbelief for a movie. Diplomatic immunity does not protect you from being *arrested,* just from being *prosecuted and imprisoned.* You are expected to obey all the laws in your host country and if you're caught breaking them they can arrest you. Typically you get *deported* back to your home country and are tried there for your crimes. So if you do something like drink alcohol in a Sharia Law nation, you'll just lose your job and get sent home, but if you do something everybody agrees is bad like murder someone, you'll still go to jail, just in your home country.
Actually no you can't be arrested. You can only be arrested if you are a diplomat in your home country.
You can be detained. Arrested is a term for when you are accused of criminal behavior. They can handcuff you, drag you to an airport, put you on a plane back home, and watch you fly off. Beyond that, there is nothing the host country can do. Especially for non-friendly nations. Remember, espionage is a crime. This same thing happens to spies with diplomatic paperwork
The diplomatic immunity has to be waived before they can arrest you. A few years ago in the UK when the wife of a US diplomat killed someone in a collision where she was driving on the wrong side of the road and hit a bike head on. While the UK was asking the US to waive her immunity so she could be arrested and prosecuted, she used that immunity to flee the country and return to the US to avoid any chance of prosecution.
@@SadPeterPan1977 it has to be waved by the country your from. check the headlines from this week in nyc. man raped a woman and was set free because he has diplomatic immunity. he can be arrested, but has to be released after confirming his identity.
Yes continue watching these movies. 3 is my favorite of the series. This is one of those rare franchises where all the movies are good.
Joe Pesci makes the next two worth watching too, in fact Pesci has an emotional scene in four that will break your heart
They are so mean to him throughout the franchise
Definitely watch L.W. 3 & 4. They become less and less serious and more and more ridiculously goofy and funny. Don't expect any deep insights into anything, it's just for pure fun.
The accent was South African German. A lot of German's migrated to SA after WW2.
I don't know about other places but there are Subway drive throughs all over the Dallas area.
Y'all be safe.
If you guys enjoy watching the Lethal Weapon movies, then you should definitely watch The Nice Guys. It’s a super underrated buddy cop film and it’s really funny. Fun fact: Shane Black wrote Lethal Weapon and directed The Nice Guys.
Woulda been an awesome commercial for an F250
