I really love this guy . Hes not selfish to share his knowledge about candles . I love how detailed he explains. He also give a very objective advices that is good for all . Kudos!
Well first of all, I appreciate anyone who shares info and doesn’t request money for their knowledge. Sharing is good. It also shows his character! 😉 My first video and so far he’s knocking it out of the park.
Really great video! I've taken a couple of in-person candle making classes and started making candles about a month ago. Everytime I think "I got this", I come across another problem. I love Kevin's KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) advise. I generally don't keep ANYTHING in my life simple 😂but he is 100% correct about this. You really have to keep it simple, be patient, and stay focused. I'm determined to get this right and these videos are incredibly helpful. Thank you, Kevin!
This is my 3rd video in taking a serious interest in candle making and I honestly feel like I’m ready now that you have such detailed information in a simple way. Love the info and thanks for sharing
Such great information for newbie's like myself. Now I know I am on the right track just by learning and following instructions. Thank you for this video Looking to see and learn more.
New sub. Thanks for this info. #5 is me, I have so much crap now I’m overwhelmed lol. Finally someone who breaks all this stuff down so newbies like me can understand
Thank Kevin from australia, but i think im going to wing it. When i convert to Aussie dollars its a bit pricey. Get but thanks for this turtorial, gives me a bit of a guideline…..have an awesome day/night❤
Gidday mate .I wished i came across you 12 months ago;Now i have to start all over again because i want to good at making candles not just average. Now i feel im on the right track too learn the right way.
WTH, if candle making is so dang scientific, how did all our ancestors make tons of them without all the equipment, etc? Think it's over my head, but this is some awesome, basic info to help:( Appreciate your video!!
Man I am soo soo thankyou for enlightening us with how to be cautious. I am planning to enter into this business. But I have too many questions before entering into this business. Like what type of wax we need what type of jars hold the wax about the wick, and even about the performance of the candles. The temperature they hold while making etc. I learnt more of it and my ideas are more clear now.❤️
Hi! Can you give us some information about candle making insurance when starting a business. I’m on the east coast and I honestly don’t know where to go to obtain this.
Hi there. I just wanted to know. Some suppliers say the pouring temp of fragrance oil for soy wax is always 85°C, regardless of the type of soy wax but some suppliers say that the pouring temp of fragrance oil depends on the type of house. What do you think of this? Additionally, what's your take on adding coconut oil to soy wax for a better hot throw?
I stand by 85°C from the perspective of a candle design. If a fragrance house creates something that volatile, it's unlikely it would perform under the scrutiny of the melt pool/flame temperatures the blend is exposed to when in use. Re: coconut oil - I'm all for experimentation, but I like to keep things simple if I can 😁
Thank you for all your helpful advice, much appreciated!! I have a question, when doing the test on your candle, if you have one that fails early in the test, say for the flame burning too high, can you re-melt that candle and change the wick and use that same wax it again?
Yes to all of this! Especially having an overwhelming amount of supplies! Also, I recently took Kevin’s course and it was extremely valuable - highly recommend!
new hobbyist...is it ok to pour candles into glassware, drinking glasses? (glass tumblers)? thanks. I am askign after I have done this, but I havent burned them yet. Thank you
Great video, as always. Thank you! BTW, I don't remember if you've covered this already but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the low temperature method for soy wax (especially 464) :)
I never recommend it. It's just not a good way to reliably make safe candles. Not to mention that soy looks like bad oatmeal and requires more heat gunning.
I’ve been told to add vibar etc to my wax for candles however it never melts down all the way with the waxes (in use various grades of paraffin depending upon the type of candle such as a pillar or Hurricane. In any case have you ever found it necessary to add vibar or also mottling to get a marbled look? I’m just curious if I’ve been wasting my money on those additives bc it sure feels like it. Thanks in advanced for any replies, tips, or suggestions.
It's not recommended. Essential oils evaporate very quickly when heated so when you burn the candle the first time most of the essential oil will evaporate in that first burn and when you light the candle again you'll barely be able to smell it. Fragrance oils are made to use in candles so they're the best option.
Thank for the information, as I just started making scented candle, your channel is very helpful. Anyway I got some issue currently. Could you please help me with the poor glass adhesive problem, my whole candle was came out of the glass during the delivery so many time which I don’t know why as I use high temperature glue to stick the wick and it sticker perfectly before i pour the wax. The candle look fine and I already test put candle up side down before I send the candle.
Treat it a lot like soy wax in the way you cure it, but treat it like palm wax the way you heat it. Go to 200F, add fragrance, cool to wherever you're going to pour, and let it cure for 10 - 14 days.
I am so confused as to which wick to use...there are so many to choose from. I make them for fun and I want to make them with the highest quality possible. Is discovering the best wick through trial and error?
So, I've heard that some candle makers immerse their candles in water after it's cured enough to handle, is this bad and will it achieve the curing process faster?
My gf is making bubble candles but When they’re setting the outside looks fun but on the middle it looks like it’s really chalky and hasn’t set right. What is she doing wrong and how can she stop that?
Hi Kevin, I love your videos! I am new in candle making. My candles make me cough! My fragrances are top quality from France without phthalates etc... So what am I doing wrong!??I read that limonene can be a trigger. I would appreciate your opinion
Maybe you are burning the wax too much, try searching a solution in this way, like a presto pot or a double boiler, we call it in italy "bagnomaria" try searching on youtube too see how it is made, we use it for chocolate xD
Who use c3 soy wax i need help ? My candle has a good cold throw but the hot throw not strong enough. Please i need help and sorry if my English was bad
You mean to tell me I should wait days or in some cases weeks, before I can sell a candle, depending on what kind of wax I use? Am I understanding this correctly?
Moreso that a candle is not performing optimally until it is cured. Whether you use that information in a "lead time" calculation or not is totally up to you!
Thank you so much for the information. The one issue I’m have is the best type and size wicks to use in my vessel’s. I’m looking to make 4 & 8 0z soy candles in 4&8 oz tins. I’m also looking to make16 and 24 oz soy candles . Can you please suggest a wick and a size for each oz candle ? Also are wooden wicks good for soy candles in the above mentioned oz’s
Great videos!! Question...When you say 16 ounces of wax to 1 ounce of FO do you mean before the wax is melted? If so what is your liquid melted wax to FO ratio?
Great question. Wax actually weighs the same in its liquid and solid state (or super close enough) that you can weigh it dry before melting. Or, if you're really scrappy, you can weigh it while it's wet but that's typically more challenging.
I really love this guy . Hes not selfish to share his knowledge about candles . I love how detailed he explains. He also give a very objective advices that is good for all . Kudos!

Could you include the 3 days of shipping as part of your cure time or does shipping affect the candle curing process?
Do it. It doesn't affect curing enough to matter and sometimes you just have to get things out the door when time gets tight.

Hi. Great video. What would your recommendation be for coconut wax, as a curing time? Thanks
Than you so much for you advice 🥰
I was wondering what you thought about Party Lite Tea candles. because they are in little plastic containers? And they say they use a cold wax?!
What about soy paraffin candles? Is that a safe combination? How long should I cure? Is there a specific wick I should use for that combination?
Thank for the information, as I just started making scented candle, your channel is very helpful. Anyway I got some issue currently.

And when are we seeing the result of the wooden wick tests ????
